Emma did not try to break Nikko, She did not tame him. She blended with him and earned his love. That is why they can move together as one. Congratulations Emma.
What a beautiful statement. Man, where are my tissues.
And his trust...
No mate... She "Joined Up" with him. That is what the non-violent form of Equine training is called. Breaking is the violent abusive practice of mentally and physically breaking a horses spirit until they are compliant. It starts by not looking at them and just standing there until they choose to follow you like they would the wild herds leader or alpha. No treats, no words, and no eye contact. Too many people see horses as an accessory to their existence.
@@stoggyreturns what does it matter?
@@M.Elizabeth2002 one is informed the other is not.
He's beautiful, and such a heartwarming story. I've said this elsewhere and on my other channel, but I have been afraid of horses all my life (I'm 52) until my wife decided to fulfill her lifelong dream of getting her horse. He's an old guy, and we bought him from some people who had rescued him from an awful situation. He was just one skinny, malnourished, clearly abused horse out of about 30 or so. I hear tell the woman who abused him said "Well, I feed my good horses." I will make her pay for that if I ever meet her.
Anyhow, though he isn't exactly what we would have chosen, we both felt we had to take him even if he wasn't the ideal animal for her. The day they brought him home, I met my wife where we are boarding him to support her, even though I didn't want to be within 10 feet of him. However, they needed to look him over and clean him up after a long day of travel, so I plucked up what little courage I had and held his lead. While I'm standing there, he looks me in the eye and proceeds to lay his head on my chest like it was the first kindness he'd had in a long time. I don't know how it happened, but I fell in love with him on the spot, and wouldn't you know it, I'm not afraid anymore. He's my buddy, and he knows I've got treats in my pocket 😆
I don't know what he saw, but he's changed my life. I want to care for horses in need for the rest of my life, even if it's only one at a time. They are beautiful and wonderful souls. Their capacity for love and forgiveness is proof of that.
I love your story!
So wonderful to hear! Thank you both for saving him ❤️

No, he was meant to be free.
@@shaleyvale272 where do you think domestic horses started?? We have been domesticating horses for centuries. Starting with the Native Americans.
@@thatsmalltowngirl4Obviously. All beings were originally free.
@Shaley Vale
Horses became extinct from North America ~10k years ago. The wild horses we have now come from domesticated horses-they are feral, but not wild. They aren’t meant to be free any more than a homeless dog or cat is. You can argue the morality of domestication if you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are in fact domesticated creatures now who don’t need to be-or even should be in some cases-free to thrive.
Also, just a note, the Native Americans weren’t the first here to domesticate horses. Horses were first reintroduced to the continent by European settlers, starting with the Spanish.

Love helps animals just as much as medicine.
When my Shih-tzu was a puppy, the vet said he had a kidney defect and wouldn't live over 3-4 years. I gave him the best life i could. My roommates helped care for him, the neighbor's son walked him when i was at work. My friends all were great with him. Even my family welcomed him with open arms.
He made it to his 6th birthday.
Love truly helps.
I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for him to one day just wake up and not find your person around you for comfort. This made me cry.
I know I was like balling when she found him again, my heart legit dropped when he was sold.!!
Couldn't have said it any better - totally agree! I cried too. 💖🐴💖😇
She was only visiting once per week.
@@pattygould8240 Well, just because I didn't see my Grandparents every week does not take away from a strong and loving bond. I miss them still even though they've been gone for years now. In the past when I still had dogs and had to board them while traveling for weeks at a time, that did not make us forget one another. They'd try to leap into my arms and kiss me. Etc. One can form a strong bond of love with people, pets and animals and such a bond always remains in the heart. Animals and kids especially deeply feel and know it when they are given unconditional love. It is both rare and wonderful in this world. I hope you can experience this one day - wishing it for all others too. This beautiful horse sensed total acceptance, safety and love with this young lady. Horses are deeply feeling and sensitive creatures and have been known to remember those who have been kind and those who have not.
Why didn't she bring him home the first time? No one told her where he went? Glad they eventually found each other.
I'm 44 now, and I was in a foster home at age 11 and it was a horse farm. There was a yearling they brought in named Cubie and she wouldn't let anyone near her. I fed all the horses twice a day every day, water and hay. I would put several horses in stalls to feed them grain, while I put their hay out and fill their water troughs. But I would let Cubie stay loose and she would follow me wherever I went and watch what I do. So I always had a pocket full of grains just for her. She would eat from my hands which was surprising, so I just gradually got closer and closer to her every day and was finally able to touch her and then we were like best friends. Nobody else could even get within 10 feet of her without her running. But I was sent away to another foster home less than a year later. I was promised they would keep her, but I found out she was sold, and I have never seen her again. She was beautiful. Red coat, red main, with a white streak down her face, one brown eye, and one blue eye. I'll never forget her. She taught me more love than anything I could have taught her.
I'm sorry for your and Cubie's loss of each other. I know she missed you as much as you missed her, only she could never understand why. This story made me weep. You were an angel to her while you could.
Cynthia. I am so sorry. God loves you and He loves Cubie. That horse is in Heaven and she remembers you and loves you. Every instinct that I have wants nothing more than to take away the hurt you had to have suffered. As a human being, I can do little. God can reunite you with your horse though. Accept the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for your sins. Invite Him to be your Savior. That’s all there is to it. You will be with Cubie again when it’s time to go home and you will never have to say good bye again. Please think about what I said. God bless and keep you and heal your hurt.🙏🏻❤️
Awww
Cubie's job was done with you when she taught you real love, now she had to go teach someone else. May she have lived a long and healthy life.
🥺🥺🥺🥺
I don't think people realize how big their hearts are, you cannot trade them out like an old pair of shoes.

@@soookimbo6571 Most always, horses are very gentle around small children. I grew up with horses as have all 4 of my daughters.
My mother always told us, if a child or animal doesn't like someone, watch out, there's somethong wrong with them, they are not nice people. Over the years I have seen she was right.
That is spot on! If my dog won’t come near you, then there’s something wrong with you.
I used to live in a trailer park and this one guy around my age came over one time. I never liked him but long story short, my cat was scared to go near him. Not long after that, found out he was a dog fighter who inbred pitties and abused them to the brink of death, would let them chase people around the park off-leash, and I was warned by a cat-loving friend at the time to keep him away from my kitty because he said to her once, that if a cat got in his way around his feet and tripped him he'd kill it. :/ Never let him near again. I've seen those poor dogs. Watched a puppy he had go from a sweet little thing to a violent, malnourished creature that was set on attacking everything around it. And the little county I was in didn't care; animal control wouldn't do anything, even with evidence, they wouldn't take action against him and his degenerate family. It's been a year since I left, no clue what's going on by now. I have to be honest, I rarely think this way but I hope their dogs turn on them. I just hope they don't turn on the 3 or 4 little toddlers they have.

Hello Bonnie how’s the weather over there
He looks like he is filled with love when Emma holds and comforts him. Animals know kind-hearted people.
No they don’t... Whenever i see someone post this i have to point out that hitler and his dogs had a “special bond”. That way of thinking also put my friend into a bad situation with her boyfriend at the time. Animals just like certain people, if they feed them, show them affection, don’t hurt or scare them, that doesn’t mean they are “kind hearted”. There are plenty of assholes on this planet who are terrible people but love animals.
Not really. Animals can like anyone who show them kindness and can pick anyone they like. Even if people are kind-hearted, they still might not pick them. They can choose anyone, even bad people, if they trust or love them.
@@ericaallisonc Animals are smart enough to know when a person hates them. You have to be pretty ignorant not to know that. It is true that animals DO know kind people who love them. Hello Coralee how’s the weather over there
damn.. this almost made me tear up, my grandma used to own a pregnant mare. that mare gave birth to a gorgeous little foal. that foal was born literally the same day and year as me. unfortunately my grandma had to sell both of them when i was around ten years old. back then i wasn’t much into horses, but now horses are literally my life. my grandma said that she sold the foal to a riding facility like 5 cities away but never gave me any names. i’m now 15, still looking for the barn where he would be at. i saw pictures of him on some website where all horses are registered, he was 7 yo in that photo. all tacked up. it made my cry, that could’ve been me if the horse wasn’t sold.
I feel like there should be some kind of paper trail left behind? Like, the facility had to have given some sort of receipt and have some sort of record on file, such that if you were to mass email all the facilities that might match up with where you think he might have been, that one of them would be able to dig up your grandmother's name since you have a good time frame to give and say 'ah, right, this guy. We've sold him to so-and-so.' and you'd be able to move forwards from there.
Although judging from what I've seen of these horse reunion videos, paper trails with names and time frames are nonexistent.
That being said, I sincerely hope that one day you find him.

@@Capsacininthebasin Not only technically, but biologically, we members of the Genus Homo, and of the species, sapiens, are a higher primate and are part of the Animal Kingdom.
Those folk who say we're not animals, must be members of the Plant or Mineral Kingdoms. Though they are more likely lesser hominids.

Lucky Mikko that you found him and are giving him a safe and happy life. So beautiful to see your little child leading him. Mikko is a special horse and good on Emma for training him herself. She knew what Mikko needed and her patience has paid off. What a lovely horse she has saved.
Aw, this is such a sweet and beautiful story! I’m so glad they found each other again and now he can live happily with his person! Those two were meant to find each other. Horses are such incredible animals! The way they connect with humans is pure magic ❤️
Heaven only knows what that poor horse has been through before meeting this kind person.

This just made me pour tears 🥹🥹
Beautiful horse! Beautiful story Emma! God bless our animals!
Him walking with the child...damn, that touched my heart
People like this change the world with small gifts of love.
Horses are my favorite animal of all - majestic, noble, goofy, playful and ever so soulful. God bless this young woman for saving this horse's spirit and giving him a life full of love.
Hello Michelle how’s the weather over there
This one makes me cry. Such a heart warming story.
My friend just found his horse from 9years ago at an auction sale. She remembered him, I think horses remember their owners. Glad you found yours.
That’s amazing
In Swedish we have a saying
"minne som en häst"
To have the memory of a horse. It means to have a very good memory.
Did he buy her back?
Who's heart sunk when she went there and Mikko wasn't there?! 🥺 Then who cried happy tears when he got to go home with Emma??!! 😊
i didn't cry... that's not tears, i had something in my eye... ;)
@@LBrobie My allergies are bugging me.
I have a Kiger Mustang from Oregon. It is amazing the relationship someone can have with one of these horses. It's much deeper than other horses. Mustangs are extremely smart.
A little kindness, affection and patience goes a long way. It works that way with horses too!
such a mama's boy. it's nice to see that he's willing to work with his little brother. they're going to have a great bond , maybe big brother Mikko will be his little brother's horse teacher as he grows.
Iv always trained my dogs this way, slowly and with mutual respect. Yes it’s quicker to train them by making them fear you but when an animal does something you want out of respect and love rather than because they fear the consequences of not doing it the relationship is happier and everyone wins.
just like parenting.
@@jeelam590 Exactly. That's why i hate parents who beat their children up.
I've had several dogs and I have never, ever hit one of them. I didn't force them to do things they were afraid of, didn't take things away from them, didn't even shout at them. I just never had any need or desire to do so. Yes that sometimes meant things would take longer or that I would have to change my plans but there always was a deep level of mutual trust. If they were misbehaving I'd just tap them on the side with two fingers and say "Hey, don't do that." My last dog was extremely good at reading body language and facial expressions (yes, dogs really can do that) and with her I'd just have to raise a finger. Conversely I could often tell what she wanted just from the way she was standing, position of her ears and tail, etc. People also say you shouldn't put your hand in your dogs feeding bowl when they're eating but if I did that, they'd just sniff my hand to see what I was putting in. If your dog really trusts you it's perfectly alright to do that sort of thing. People who think their dog should fear them will never develop such a deep bond and as a result miss out on so many of those beautiful little things.
@@JC130676 my little doggo Tamashi is the sweetest thing ever. She's so obedient and respectful and I've never ever hit her. The closest thing to hitting her was giving her a pat on the head whenever she did something dangerous, but nothing more. She understood and stopped doing dangerous stuff (like crossing the road on her own).
@@JC130676 I’ve never had a dog I wasn’t able to take food right from their mouth.
Even a badly abused rescue I saved, finally learned after almost a year, I meant him no harm.
You should be able to take their bowl away w/o issue.
Although I know many dogs do have food aggression. Which is too bad.
I know more than a few that were put down, b/c kids went for their bowls when they were eating, or when food was in it & they lunged to stop the child from what they thought would be taking it.
That’s all it takes, to take a poor dogs life. That’s the owners fault. :/
So glad Emma was able to locate Miko again. Such a sweet horse! Glad she's happy again.
today was the best day of my life. my mom bought me my first horse and i promised my horse i always will treat him like royalty. this video just made my day even better
Another horse whisperer. And she’ll pass this on to her son! Beautiful story.
There are two ways of taming a horse: With kindness or with cruelty. Kindness is always the best option! This is the proof.
I would like to correct you.
There was only 1 way to tame a horse. With cruelty the horses never really tame. It doesn't matter what kind of an animal you're trying to control or tame.
When a bond of trust is created the results are the most rewarding. Having raised Arabian horses and Chow Chow dogs during my 72 years of life I've learned some of the best approaches to training.
You first have to have that bond of trust.
Horses don’t need taming
@@mogheen uhm yes? how do you think we ride them, just hop on and gallop into the sunset? BAHAAHAHAH i wish
Yes
Exploiting horses to ride them is abuse of power.
Mikko with the baby melted my heart 🥹❤️
Aww, Mikko and Emma and little Brian made me tear up. Wonderful story ❤
My horses all have a loving home for life. I found my first horse, Marti, in 1964. Had to board her because we had no land...I was 14 years old...she had a rough history, and after we had her for several months, found out she was pregnant! She behaved like Mikko...always thrilled to see me, and followed me every where. We had to move to another boarding stable, but she adjusted fine. One day in August Sunni was born. She was 3/4 Arabian and absolutely adorable. After two more boarding stable moves, I achieved one of my dreams...purchased my own farm, and it was strange that it was less than a mile for where they were boarded! I was also able to grow my own hay, raise some sweet pet turkeys and geese and I totally loved the place. Marti was 4 when we found her. She lived to age 35. Sunni lived to be 30. They are both buried under glacial boulders. I have since moved to New Mexico on a small ranch, and it is pure horse heaven. Of course my two Arabians, who I found after losing Marti and Sunni, came with us, and are wonderful. If you have the means to rescue a Mustang, or any horse, .PLEASE DO IT! They need love and care, and will be a faithful friend for life!
Reading this made my eyes well up. Beautiful.
