Thank you so much for posting this,brought back so many memories of going to see The Von Erichs every Friday night, as a teenager. The fans would always get there early, to wait for the Von Erichs to arrive in their Lincoln Continentals and get pictures and autographs. Once they went inside,we would all get in line waiting for the doors to open,get our tickets,food,drink and go to the souvenir stand to get the latest pictures of our favorite wrestlers(David) and then go to our seats to wait for the matches to start...such good times,didn't matter that it was indeed a rathole,it was SO MUCH FUN!! I cannot believe that the owner just let it get to that state,it shouldn't have been torn down,it should have been made into a historical monument, a museum at the very least. I will always have the memories and several of the pictures i bought there 40 years ago to cherish. Thanks again for posting this wonderful video.

Trey, I'm born and raised in the D-FW Metroplex, and from 1982 through 1990 that building was where you could find me, my two brothers, and a lot of my friends going to watch the matches, and chasing girls every Friday night! Some of the best memories in my life was there in that building! I still have a lot of pics of me and the Wrestlers together, guys like Kerry, Kevin, David, Mike, and even Chris Von Erich! Guys like Bruiser Brody, Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, The "Fabulous Freebirds," and 'Iceman' King Parsons! I also have a pic of me and Andre the Giant standing right outside the Sportatorium while he was on his way inside. That was the one and only time I ever saw Andre the Giant in person, and all these years later, I've still haven't seen anyone else that BIG!! 💯 Back then, that building was the place to be on Friday nights! A lot of those matches that's on YT, I can see me and my brothers sitting right there at ringside, we'd be sitting anywhere from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th row! So many great memories, and I sure do miss em'!! Great job you were about 90% right on the money I spent many Friday night in the sportatorium from 85 until the 90s after Kerry passed it was never the same all the greats either got their start or at least came thru Dallas Kamala abdula one man gang even andre the giant I saw Steve back when he went by stunning Steve Williams he was just breaking into the business it was truly magical and the place had so much history

And the one wrestler I liked he was called gorgeous George blonde air. And then when I lived in Los Angeles there was a gentleman. As far as I can remember. Awesome job, Trey. Me and my brothers would watch the wrestling shows from the Sportatorium on Saturday mornings just like Cold Stone mentioned. The Von Erichs were/are legends from that period leading into the late 1980s. We passed by that place a million times but never went to see a match. Saw it vacant for many years. Wasn't too surprised to see it gone one day going to work. It's really too bad they had to tear it down. Seems there could have been some use for it. But with bigger and better venuesw being built on better and safer parts of town, I can see why it wasn't getting used. I mean - they tore down Reunion Arena and Texas Stadium and I think both those plots of land are still technically vacant. There's a good history of the Sportatorium on PBS that came out some years ago - they mention the early years with Elvis, etc. and Kevin Von Erich did a small special where he's walking around the place and sharing memories just as they were tearing it down. I'd sure like to metal detect that piece of property. I bet people lost some spare change and jewelry on that ground as they reached in their pockets for their keys. That was when Texas was still Texas before it turned into a foreign country I don't even recognize anymore.
I never knew much abou Dallas or Memphis wrestling. In NC we watched 1 of few cable channels TBS WCW was our show. When Andy Kaufman was wrestling ladies. i watched him get slapped on David Letterman ,but had no idea who Jerry Lawler was. And thought it was 100% real and wasn't. Andy's manager thought it was getting out of control. IRL jerry and Andy were best buddies. Andy a NY Yankee did a lot for the southern wrestling sport something Andy loved with a passion. RIP Andy

Driving north on IH35 you could hear the roar of the crowd as you drove over the Trinity River and the closer you got the louder the roar

Don't know about Reunion, but Texas Stadium is now an industrial park. Trucking company owns the land now.
