What is the best weighted vest to buy? Which ones have you tried and which ones do you like the most and why? Thank you for your response. 5’6 @ 175 Veteran with, Knee injury and recovering, need to do something other than upper body. Thank you.
I’ve really only tried the 5.11 and I had a great experience with it. The 5.11 are really designed to as body armor sometimes it makes it hard to breath just the way the plate covers a lot of the upper body and your belly. I think there are some that have shorter plates so it makes it a little easier to breath but also easier to get lower on a squat. There might be some great floor exercises you can do to build the legs without too much stress on the knee like gout bridges being one of them. Hope this helps brother 🙏.

@@roycelaguerta Thanks 👊🏽 I created myself this one year From Average to Warrior -Challenge last November to get into best shape of my life, 80ish days to go, lot's of work to do though 🔥
@@roycelaguerta heyy seems like I can’t dm you on Ig so here’s the msg: Hey Royce! In a tiny nutshell about my Project From Average to Warrior -Challenge. I turned 44 last November and decided to get in the best shape of my life before I turn 45. It definitely has been a rollercoaster 😂 Pretty soon we (me and my wife ❤️🔥) thought that this kind of a challenge could help other guys as well to get a grip of workouts and life overall and we started building a community around this movement, but it’s been freakin hard to get people excited. I’ve always been looking ways to help others, but I’ve also seen many times before in our earlier businesses that many people would need help - but only a few actually WANTS it. Anyway, that’s about me and our stuff, how’s life? Henrik
The longer workouts I had some electrolytes and some days I took Protein shakes but for the most part I just eat pretty much normal. 3 palms of protein, 3-6 fist size of carbohydrates, and 3 cups of vegetables. I do a lot of meditating and I was lucky to have a great massage guy once a week to work the aches and pains. He would also give me HW on the really bad weeks. Hope this helps a bit. I think it really depends on the athlete as well. (size, day to day work, age) If you have questions I can give you a rough blue print of maybe where to start. But keep at it brother. 🙏
Yeah lol well first we did 3 Murphs a day for 7 days in a row, then 5 a day for 5 days in a row, followed by 7 in one day. 😭 that’s when I had to sit down and watch my son and wife go to the ice skating rink cramping up right outside.
@@roycelaguerta Did you have consistent gains or did you maintain the same weight and body fat at some point? Like, what kind of results did you get physically?
My first day was probably a few hours because I had to walk because of the back lol. But not sure what our last day time was. To be honest I stopped keeping track on how long it took and just did it. But if I had to say on average it took normally about 45 minutes. The fastest I recorded in that was around 35 minutes but only did that a few times because you can get pretty sore going really fast some days.
Amazing accomplishment that’s truly inspiring 🫡 Back in September 2014 I fractured my right arm and ever since I’ve been taking on different challenges shame I didn’t document my journey I’ve done half marathons bulked up doing strength training (naturally) over that time period I’ve gained a lot of patience and mental strength plus a good sense of accomplishment I am proud of myself for pushing through all the challenges and the cherry on top is proving the naysayers /doubters wrong who said I’d never achieve what I have done.✌️

When you do 100 strict pulls, how you split those? My max is 18, so maybe then after a minute rest, I could do another 10 or little more, but what about all other till 100. And I'm talking about pulls without additional weight.
Great question 80% of the time it’s just set of 5’s and the other times when I want to spice it up I’ll go 7s and 9s. I just like those 2 numbers lol. 😂 you starting to do a few throughout the week brother? 😊
@@roycelaguerta That's not the thing. It's about the meaning of "murph". Is this your individual word for competition, challenge, hard workout, performance, ...? It's not listed in any dictionary.

You kinda get bored after awhile 😂. Also did most of the longer ones during Memorial Day where we had a few heats so it helped and just wanted to do it with them so was like why not let’s go for something big. 😊 and to be honest I kinda like the endurance stuff now and I didn’t know that at the beginning.
Thanks homie I appreciate you. Nutrition was huge had to master that before the 1000 really because we were doing two a days a year before so pretty much ate Whole Foods 2x per day, fasted in the morning. Took more protein and electrolytes when the intensity was hire. Sleep was a priority and also made sure I was drinking plenty of water. Now to come think of it, it wasn’t really fancy lol.
Yeah it seems so far at the start I can see that 😭. My first Murph ever was awful lol. At some point it got a little easier and just doing the easiest rep was where it started. Maybe there’s a modification that is great for your body at first brother. I think you can do it at some point. I appreciate you brother 🙏.
lol yeah At first it feels like that brother but your body adapts and if you keep getting one percent better. Im not sure how long each movement takes I’ve never done splits on them but overall it takes about an hour for most but if your going fast it can be about 35minutes. If you attempt it ever I would start out really small maybe a quarter of it or half and maybe modify the pull ups to rows. Then as it gets easier I would upgrade the difficulty. 🙌🏽 I appreciate you brother 🙏.
Massive respect. I guess "Was it worth it?" is not a great question - after a 100 days it is just part of you? I am training to do actually do 1 Murph 😅. (I can do a lot of push-ups, but suck at pull-ups) . Thank you for the inspiration.
That’s actually where it started like 10 years ago. 😭 yeah I agree it’s just part of me now. That video was shot not knowing it would impact a single person. And if it helped one person today or inspired one person today. It’s worth it to me. 🙏 I appreciate you brother.
Atonishing effort, i guess the physical effort was really high but how about the mental part to keep going over and over.. You have all my respect. Few people can have this compromise to achieve such a record
Yeah intrestingly enough the physical part became the easiest and the mental was the hardest 😭. You start asking your self “why am even doing this? No one is really going to care? You could just rest no one will know.” You start having these very interesting conversations with yourself and another personality emerges that you’ve never met before. A stronger version, more resilient, and more faithful version. One that’s just grateful for just being. Thank you brother 🙏
In terms of physical most likely what you would expect with endurance athletes. Leaner, more endurance, stamina, recovery. But I think the greatest changes were outside of fitness at least for me because all those books I was consuming in the process 😭. Business, relationships, leadership, too many to list the physical and mindset was prolly the just the tip of the iceberg.
This would have gone from, “I’m going to do MURPH for 1,000 days” to “Pass the chips” in short order for me… very likely before even starting my first Murph
Thanks brother. Yeah the pull ups can get pretty nasty at the first st 30 days and it kinda shifts to the push-ups being pretty bad which is kinda weird😭. But pull ups are always tough. I appreciate you brother 🙏.
@@Snamify yeah pretty much as I’m answering emails, watching something, and also got worked on about once a week without team. Recovery is huge for sure 😊
@@KcinNosnik there were definitely days specially at the beginning that felt that way. But gradually improved the recovery side, nutrition, and had a team to fix me when I had a few strains. 🙏 I also think the body just adapts to whatever stress you decide to put on it over time which is really interesting 😭
I did for some of them but my day negative 7 when I was injured took almost 3 hours 😭. But when I started with the vest it was around 55 minutes at the start and last one was prolly 45 minutes. I stopped tracking the time after awhile because they were about the same. Unless I pushed it which was rare, took about 35 minutes for those. I appreciate you brother 🙏 hope this helps in some way.

Amazing brother, some day I’m gonna try this. What were the benefits? Did your endurance skyrocket? Did you get leaner/more ripped? I’m looking to get leaner I feel like the murph can help.
Heck yeah brother it was an awesome journey. Yeah for sure the first year I got really lean and arms back changed for sure. After awhile I think your body adapts so the change kinda stops lol. 😂 my legs where much bigger just doing CrossFit but with all the endurance your legs get a bit smaller I think. My endurance for sure has 10x it’s kinda crazy. I learned how to do more recovery through out it for sure and learn what foods worked well with me. There’s a lot of cool take away from it and I think everyone’s going to have different benefits. Regardless it’s a great workout and challenge. Just recommend finding a team that can help you when your injuries, sore, or just need someone to relate with that’s always nice. Hope this helps brother 🙏.
Awesome job man. What were you averaging time wise for these? Average mile times?
Most of them were pretty slow brother but if I had to guess somewhere around 9-10 minute miles. Some days were faster but I used those times to listen to a good book or podcast so I was slow 😭. Thanks brother 🙏. Hope you keep crushing it man.

Veteran with, Knee injury and recovering, need to do something other than upper body.

Hey Royce!
In a tiny nutshell about my Project From Average to Warrior -Challenge.
I turned 44 last November and decided to get in the best shape of my life before I turn 45. It definitely has been a rollercoaster 😂
Pretty soon we (me and my wife ❤️🔥) thought that this kind of a challenge could help other guys as well to get a grip of workouts and life overall and we started building a community around this movement, but it’s been freakin hard to get people excited.
I’ve always been looking ways to help others, but I’ve also seen many times before in our earlier businesses that many people would need help - but only a few actually WANTS it.
Anyway, that’s about me and our stuff, how’s life?
Henrik
What kind of supps do you take to help with fatigue and recovery?
The longer workouts I had some electrolytes and some days I took Protein shakes but for the most part I just eat pretty much normal. 3 palms of protein, 3-6 fist size of carbohydrates, and 3 cups of vegetables. I do a lot of meditating and I was lucky to have a great massage guy once a week to work the aches and pains. He would also give me HW on the really bad weeks. Hope this helps a bit. I think it really depends on the athlete as well. (size, day to day work, age) If you have questions I can give you a rough blue print of maybe where to start. But keep at it brother. 🙏
Did i hear you say you did this 5 times a day at one point? That's incredible.
Got push ups on lock I can’t do pull ups tho I need to work on that next
Heck yeah brother! Keep at it, its up next for sure 🙏
Friend, please give the timings in your next video. Timings of 1st day & timings of 1000 th day, & maybe in between also.
Yessir!
Thanks Bobby 💪🏽🙏

When you do 100 strict pulls, how you split those? My max is 18, so maybe then after a minute rest, I could do another 10 or little more, but what about all other till 100. And I'm talking about pulls without additional weight.
Great question 80% of the time it’s just set of 5’s and the other times when I want to spice it up I’ll go 7s and 9s. I just like those 2 numbers lol. 😂 you starting to do a few throughout the week brother? 😊
Please tell me, what's "to murph". I don't find a sufficient translation in the translator.
Sure Michael for the most part it’s a workout that involves 2 miles of running, 100 pull ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats wearing a 20 pound vest.
@@roycelaguerta That's not the thing. It's about the meaning of "murph". Is this your individual word for competition, challenge, hard workout, performance, ...? It's not listed in any dictionary.
The good thing about this workout is that you can do it anywhere, including on vacation.

I can’t do it for a single day. No way I can do 100 pull ups. How long does that take? How long does everything takes?
lol yeah At first it feels like that brother but your body adapts and if you keep getting one percent better.

I think things like this pose similar challenges as fasting for long periods of time. Which is what can cause it to be spiritual
Yes for sure brother I did one for 5 days during it. Which was trully one of the more exciting learnings I’ve had. You do fasting as well? 😊
Thank you brother 🙏
cool but i mean besides mindset what changes do you see? what benefits ?
In terms of physical most likely what you would expect with endurance athletes. Leaner, more endurance, stamina, recovery. But I think the greatest changes were outside of fitness at least for me because all those books I was consuming in the process 😭. Business, relationships, leadership, too many to list the physical and mindset was prolly the just the tip of the iceberg.
This would have gone from, “I’m going to do MURPH for 1,000 days” to “Pass the chips” in short order for me… very likely before even starting my first Murph
😭🤣
I don't think most people realize how crazy this is

Its the pullups that kill me. Great job man
