Great takes me back, Traveled to and from school on the old Bristol VRs and Leyland Nationals . Spent many journeys in the luggage rack of a single deck National II due to over crouding on the old number 3 route. I agree with "bishbashboy" They may have been old and tatty and held together with tape but so much better than the crap we see now..
