I enjoyed taking shots of the city at night.....the trams and the street lights, great! Hanging around the main station, I got some excellent shots of the high speed Frecciarossa trains and the guys working on them. You've got to love all aspects of Milan!
Gouphie, Appreciate your review and suggestions. We’re headed there next spring and will follow your tips for here as well as Lake Como. Regards, Craig
I absolutely love the 28 mm focal length it is one of my favourites if not my favourite! I also love the tops of buildings as well throughout Europe and the architecture it’s just so beautiful and very different than where I grew up. awesome video and awesome images!!!
Very timely! We’re celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this July. We honeymooned in Stresa on Lago Maggiore, so we’re planning to head back there for a few days. Milan is the fly-in point (although we might take the TGV from Paris). Good advice re. Lens. I’ll probably take the x-pro2 on our trip. Been thinking about picking up the 18mm f/2. Its reputation seems to be going through a bit of a renaissance!
Hey, I've just picked up my dream lens, an older version of the 28mm Elmarit (V3)! I've been shooting 28mm 2.8 forever on slr's but now I have it paired with my new/old M4. It's a killer combo for the way I like to shoot. Cheers!...😄
Hi Goughie. I love the warm orangy colors in your Images. Your pictures in fact were so good that I chose to upgrade to the M10. Could you please tell us how you edited the Images? E.g. did you mix some more reds in? Thank you and cant wait to see images from your next trip!
You should go to Milan during Design Week, there are tons of things to do around the city with lots of buildings open to the public that are normally closed. The city gets pretty busy and you need to book your AirBnB or hotel early. I haven't been during fashion week, but I bet that's fun to do as well.
I had a similar experience just last week in Lisbon, Portugal. From your video, the architecture in Milan seems similar and I had a similar photographic experience. I took a Q2 and M6 + 50mm. 28mm was probably most versatile… especially if I wanted to capture the entirety of some of the structures. Occasionally, I wanted a 35 or 50 for some scenes but the 28 was the right choice. I struggled with the 50 when I took it out for the day and found myself focusing on details and people more. FWIW, the aperture ring on my 35 summicron asph v2 is the same from near new… a little looser than I’d expect but not terrible.
@@Goughie I usually try to take just one camera to avoid constant overthinking and lens/camera swapping. That’s why 35mm is really my Goldilocks focal length. It’s what’s usually glued to my M10. The Q2 usually comes out for family outings and travel where I might be in unpredictable weather (like Sao Miguel Island recently)
Absolutely fantastic video and great travel advice. Really liked the vibe of the shots. My next lens will be a 28… but do I ho Leica or the Voigtlander Ultron 28ii F2… I do enjoy shooting in bars in low light as well as everything else… ah the 1st world problems
For the ones just getting into Leica and wanting to save money. The Voigtlander 28f2 Ultron II will replace both this and the 28 Summicron. And you won’t have that problem with the aperture ring. Much cheaper also.
Great video - loved the photographs! It would be great to get your thoughts on the M10 vs the M240. I have an M240 which I love shooting, and I particularly love the colours on it, but I do find it a bit big and clunky, especially compared to M6. It would be great to get your thoughts!
I’m thinking I might make a video on it as a lot of people have asked, in short though, I’m enjoying the M10 a lot! Mainly due to - thinner design feels so much better, it’s only 4mm but to me honestly makes a difference, downside is the batteries are a lot smaller. I find that I need 2x batteries to last an entire day, I only ever had the one battery with the M240. Colour balance is more consistent, which means sharing SOOC JPEGs is quick and easy! The app also makes this super convenient. Highlights still frequently clip, just not as much ISO performance is also noticeably better!
@@Goughie That's good to know -thanks! I see a few people saying there's a noticeable difference in the colours. Have you noticed anything? I think a video on it is a great idea! I've seen a few comparisons, but they often focus on obvious differences, like the ISO dial and fewer buttons on the back etc. I'd love to see a video where the shooting experience is compared, the output etc. the stuff that you can't really look up on a specs sheet.
@@LetterBeacon the hard part for me is that I don’t have the M240 any more, so I can’t do exact like for like comparisons when it comes to images. I would love to try Leica M. I own a Leica CL Digital which I bought used for a very good price and I must say that the image quality blew me away when I started taking photos with it. Between a Leica Q2 and a Leica M I would probably buy the Leica Q2. I wear glasses and I struggles focusing manually. Plus the 47 megapixels sensor of the Leica Q2 is very appealing to me. You took lovely photos in Milan and your videos are pleasant to watch. Manu
@@Goughie Yep! - stored it on my bag, connect to the camera prior to the pandemic. pulled it out several months later and the rings was just spinning around ...the weirdest thing

Really great photos! And thank you for all your tips and recommendation! They are very helpful for planning and packing.
Beautiful pictures and thank you for the video!
I don’t need an m10. I don’t need an m10. I don’t need…..ahhh wtf am I kidding ?! I neeeeed an m10. *dream camera*
It’s a “need”!!

Hi! I'm from Milan and I'm very happy to hear your nice words about my city :)
We really enjoyed it! Lovely place! And the fact Como is on your door step!
Fabulous wide angle scenes you captured there! Looking forward to your video from lago Como!

Fantastic video!
The photos are beautiful! The colors really give life to those incredible structures.
Cheers mate!
Hi Adam thank you for taking us with you to Milan. Great shots. 🙏🇩🇪

Most are edited with “the daily” from my preset pack which does add an “S-Curve” to the reds in lightroom
Wow, just stumbled upon your channel now. Cool pics of Milan. Wish I had known earlier I might tag along for a photo walk in Milan.
This is excellent
Beautiful photos and a beautiful location! We do have at least one brick castle in the UK, its called Tattershall Castle and its in Lincolnshire! 😁
Ahh! Might plan a trip that direction soon!
Nice photos
Proper job! Good video. Thanks. I have an M10 M. I too use the 28 Elmerit (did I spell this right? can’t remember) I like this kit too
Haha! I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s a great combo isn’t it
Hey love your photos! Can you maybe share how you edit the m10 dng in the future??
A couple people have request this! Ill add it to the list
Googling flights to Milan. How are you finding dehancer ? I am trialing for Lightroom and seems ok, but maybe better for video grading.
It makes grading flog2 super easy, I use Final Cut and really struggle with the native tools

Great pictures indeed and excellent colour style! I suspect you took DNGs and applied a common preset in the RAW converter….?
Yes, all RAWs edited with a preset of mine called “the daily” in lightroom

Thank you for the kind words! I really enjoyed my time with the Leica Q! A Q2 would have fixed all the issues I had too!
Leica M11 + 28mm or Q2 or Hasselblad X2D + 38mm is more fun to shoot?
Never tried the Hasselblad! I’d love to though!
My aperture ring came off completely...good thing it was still under warranty a year later.
Oh really! On this lense??
@@Goughie Yep! - stored it on my bag, connect to the camera prior to the pandemic. pulled it out several months later and the rings was just spinning around ...the weirdest thing
If i like to shoot everything completely in focus, shoukd i just get the 28mm 5.6 leica lens?
Or just pick any lens and stick it at f5.6, the 28mm f5.6 is pretty expensive! Could get a faster lens and have the added flexibility
"F8 and be there." Set it at F8-F11 @ 2-3 meters on a 28mm, most everything in focus. 😀
I'm easy to please, I see not in the UK and I click. 😂
Well the next video is in Folkestone… that’s close enough to France that you’ll still watch right? 😏
What the M10-P have that I miss on M10 is virtual horizon.
I didn’t know I missed it… but now you mentioned it! 😂😂
Photographs don't have always to be special...!
Are they that bad? 😂
i think that the cheapest leica lens is the leica 40mm i use it on my pixii camera
Some really nice captures there. @myleicaodyssey
写真は良さそうだから、しゃべりと顔はカットだな😁
People buy these just to take point and shoot pictures. Lmao.
At this point I'll say anything to convince myself to not buy one.
Ahaha! You had me for a minute there!
