Tips from someone with super straight hair that does not hold curls if i do not do the following: +Washing hair with a more aggressive shampoo to get all of the former products out and NOT using any conditioner (weighs hair down and was a main reason they didn't hold curls for me ) + applying curl mouse that also protects from heat in damp hair and brushing it through. + Using hair dryer without the use of a hair brush in hot setting until hair is completely dry in then brushing it through once. + Wrapping the completely dry hair in whatever overnight curls i want and can sleep with best (they need to be tightly and close together to look curled and more than just a blow out) Fixating ends with a big scrunchie is easier than a small hair tie. + Using the cool setting on air dryer all over the hair to set them (fan should work too) and maybe a tiny bit of hair spray, to much will again weigh them down. + after sleep or some hours taking everything out and softly running finger through and maybe working a few drops of silikon hair oil in the frizzy parts and to give them shine. If i do all of this my hair that usually goes straight again if i simply brush my hands through, will stay completely curly for at least 4/5 hours and then will be beautifully wavy at which point i brush through them and they look more like a blow out. If i put them in a twisted bun overnight again they might still be a little twisty at the ends in the next morning. Hope this helps someone 👍😊
My hair is wavy but never looks nice naturally, ive always heat styled it but using this method for a few months now and it looks so good! With some practice it feels effortless and love taking it out in the mornings to see the curls. No more heat for my hair!
When I scrunch and style my naturally 2c hair, the waves always look messy and extremely frizzy, no matter how careful I am and how much product I use. I tried this method tonight... My wavy hair looks so incredibly smooth and the waves are so even and defined!! Your har absolutely does not need to be straight for this method, this is officially the best way for me to define my natural waves!
I saw your video yesterday. If have that same tool, but do far my curls never looked so good and they never lasted. Last night I sprayed some water in my hair, used a curl mousse and wrapped it with your technique. The curls look amazing 😍 only my ends don't look as good, but that's from the scrunchie. I'll see how long they'll last, but so far I'm impressed! I have a job interview in two hours, and I'm happy my hair looks that good 😍
Many years ago and I mean many years ago my mother would use old bed bed sheets cut into strips to curl my hair before I went to bed next day curls that she would brush out similar to what you do. This method is something that I will try. 👍
Have been watching your channel for years now. Totally enjoy your honest opinion and insight. Plus you and your husband are totally a blast when he's on with you. Blessing on you two beautiful angles. ❤
I like the Dutch braid method to this. This is better than just grabbing hair and wrapping it around. It can get heavy and make the product slide back and cause hair to loosen but with your method it secures both the front and back of hair to ensure a perfect curl from front to back. Approved 👍✅
Thanks for this video. I've seen this method before (twisting hair around in both directions) but your the first one I've seen to actually turn your head so we can see how it looks in the back while you're adding sections of hair! 👏
I’ve been using a curling ribbon for about a month now, and I am obsessed! I just wrap it all away from my face with completely dry hair (or sometimes slightly damp hair on hair washing nights) and I get very curly curls! Keep in mind if your hair is not 100% dry in the morning, your curls are not going to last, at all. This is why I prefer dry hair. It comes out super curly for me.
Is it the same curling ribbon that she's using here? My question is what is it like to sleep in? I remember those pink foam clip-tight overnight curlers... So uncomfortable!
@@chandae17 I have both….one that is soft satin and squishy, and the other one has a metal wire in it. I’ve decided I like the soft one better. Curls are nicer and it’s more comfortable. Honestly you can feel it somewhat when sleeping, I’m a side sleeper, but it’s really not that bad. Mine was only $11.99 from Amazon. Totally worth it. It’s nowhere near as uncomfortable as the old fashioned curlers 😁 I’ve been wrapping my hair every other night, the curls are so pretty. Lots of videos out there on different ways to wrap your hair, too. I highly recommend - it’s so quick and easy!
How does it feel to sleep with this though is it comfortable? I have trouble sleeping already so I’m worried I won’t get any sleep. But if my hair looks anything like hers it will be worth it lol
I can stand by silk vs satin. I’ve tried several satin products but the only one that works for me is the silk one I have. Definitely worth investing in a real silk version
I have really fine hair and I can never style it apart from just straightening it.. I keep watching all your videos and wish if I can style my hair like you do.. I wish if I could get styled by you someday ♥️
This is the best heartless curl method that I’ve tried yet, and I’ve tried too many at this point. I tried this method this morning and left it for 2 hours. I see that it needed more time to set better but it looks pretty good. I’ll try it overnight next and I think it will be great. It’s definitely better than the way most people use that rod, on me that method comes out too curly, in a bad way. I’m really hopeful for this method because I want to give my hair a break from heat
So im watching ur video cuz it showed up on my Google feed. So watching a few of these now, I definitely think this satin tube is the best and I found them on ebay for $6. I think tho the videos of the version that wrapping it around works best, not crisscrossing cuz that's getting too complicated espbfor those that have hand issue, especially us getting older and arthritis, but my arms always get tired having my arms up too long? So I think it would work best and easiest to take sections and wrap each section. Prob best to start with section closet to face cuz those are the face framing ones and will be curlest & tightest by being protected in place by sides & back of head. Just like if using curling iron, start from front and work backwards. So do section and tie down with small thin pony tails u can get 50 for $1.00. So then grab next section and wrap over it w new ponytail holder. just keep going to have back of head. Finish holding all with the scrunched, or even use the DT thin scarf and wrap all around to keep it held tight while sleep. Then do other side the same. Also I'm thinking to buy a 2nd set to do the back section split in 2 for tighter curls on back plus each of the sections would not be so full of hair esp thick hair or real long hair. So try this and see if the curls are better and fuller and maybe even last longer and let me know.
I know I’m 5 months behind but I am using the kitsch version of this for the first time right now.. I didn’t twist my hair this way so wish me luck!! Haha I guess I can try this in a few days when I try again!!
Of all the heatless methods I've tried, this gives me the best results, but I almost never do it. Partly I find it really fiddly, which would probably get better with practice, but I'm lazy. But mostly because I'm a sensitive side sleeper, and could NOT sleep on this, even though it was smooth and padded. So I only do this occasionally when I can wear it during the day and take it out before going out to dinner. (If you sleep on your back and can do a french braid, though, I highly recommend this method!) My second-best method is a similar idea, but uses a padded tool that makes a donut bun on top of your head. (It's like a short section of your tool that closes into a donut with an integrated scrunchie.) This gives lots of bouncy curls and volume, but the finer details of the style aren't quite as good as the tool you show. You can't alternate the direction of the strands, so you don't get as much direction variety, and it sits on top of your head, so the curls start lower on your strands and the top doesn't get as much volume. (I'm going to try it with two smaller space buns and see if that helps.) I can sleep in it, though, so for me, that's a good trade-off. You can also do this method with a donut bun form (although that is rough and gives me frizz), or just by wrapping your hair around the second twist of a scrunchie, which will give you much tighter curls. Regardless, I highly recommend experimenting with the dampness level to see what works for your hair. Mine is pretty low-porosity, so if it is more than *just barely* damp, the center will still be wet when I wake up, and the curls fall out quickly. I got my best results ever the other day by letting my hair steam for a few minutes in the shower right before I put it in the bun. That gave me very light but very even dampness.
I've been practicing that wrapping method.. eventually I'll get it lol. I would like to know what you do to your hair at night. After I get great curls, I never know what to do to make them last as long as possible. Thanks in advance 😊
My goodness your hair is beautiful it's gotten so long you've always had very pretty hair but it looks gorgeous I love it and jealous lol and congratulations on your new baby girl I know she's already a year old and I have a grandson who's also born about the same time as elodie Houdini Jackson
Hello, could you please provide with another link to buy this product.. when I clink on the link, it gives me a page not found message. Thank you an God bless!
As usual your hair looks flawless 😍! I was curious to know if the cheaper satin versions of this type of product are just as effective as the more expensive 100% silk version... would love to see you do a comparison!
Hi, Malibu. I always watch your videos. I think that's the best heatless in your hair. I would like to know where you bought that heatless silk ribbon that you just demonstrated here?
Girl listen!! I saw the thumbnail and said to myself, “whatever that product is, I need it.” I’ve used a curling ribbon before, but it was not like this one! We’ll see how it goes. 😊
Beautiful!!! Which ribbon did you use that was blue (at the 9:50 mark)?? Since blue is my favorite color, I'm far more likely to use it!! Great video, great technique and great results as well!!
I finally tried this for the first time last night, and I had to take it out before I went to sleep. It was loose despite my best efforts and just moved around so much that my shorter layers had fallen out. Trucks to getting it tight enough to sleep in?!
I love this method too but the only problem is it’s very uncomfortable to sleep on. I’ve come to the conclusion that there IS no method that is comfortable to sleep in. It may depend on how long your hair is. It’s probably been a year since I tried this method, my hair has grown so maybe I could shove it aside so that I wouldn’t have to sleep directly on the ribbon. Maybe if I found some huge, curved, snapping pin curls that I could use on big chunks of hair?
The most comfortable way for me is sock curls. They’re the only way I actually get any sleep because they are only small and I can just push them behind me.

I dont know why this is so hard for me. The right side always looks amazing but the left side is always too loose. Doesn't matter how careful I am or how tight I think I'm doing it. 😭
Do you have to leave it in for a certain amount of time? Meaning, can I do this on dry/spritzed hair at say 4pm, and then it be ready to take out around 8pm? I have seen others use a dryer diffuser on the hair to speed up the activation of the curls as well.
That thing has broken all the hair at the front of my face, every time I use it. I use those black and white spotted tubes that I can wind my hair around and use the hook and loop ends to close it up.
Bahaha so I have one that's thinner and I did it the other night. (Btw my hair is just past my shoulders). It worked a little too well. I looked like Shirley Temple😂. I realized the pieces I took were too small. I needed to take larger sections for the more natural look. But if you need perfect coily curls, just do what I did!
Question!!! I have very thick heavy hair and I've found no matter how "dry" it gets before wrapping it that it never dries over night. Will this only work on dry hair? If that is the case, that doesn't really make this process quick as my hair takes forever to dry 😭 Just looking to see if anyone with my hair type uses this and if they found any tips/tricks?
I bought mine on Amazon for under $20 I think. Absolutely no problems, I use it all the time. I also have one with the wire in it (it’s called the curling headband) which I also like. It makes curlier curls.
How do you sleep with them? I just cant find away to sleep comfortabel. My head isnt even really touching my pillow when i sleep on my side. Is my thing to thick? It isnt that squisie, does that thing become softer over time?
This method works MUCH better than how everyone else does it because having the hair go two directions prevents it from falling out.
Tips from someone with super straight hair that does not hold curls if i do not do the following:
+Washing hair with a more aggressive shampoo to get all of the former products out and NOT using any conditioner (weighs hair down and was a main reason they didn't hold curls for me )
+ applying curl mouse that also protects from heat in damp hair and brushing it through.

Great video, thank you x
The link is not working for the hair ribbon!! It says page not found.
Hello the link to product is not working do you mind updating it please?
But how do you sleep comfortably with this? How do people sleep with this on?
My question exactly! Apparently no answer to any of those comments 🤔🤷♀️
We used to use socks in the 80s lol. Ohh, it was sooo uncomfortable to sleep in, LOL 🤣 but in the morning, it left some serious curlage 😁
I have naturally wavy/curly hair. All I have to do for wavy/curly hair is wash, style, air dry.
Unfortunately, in the morning there is an ugly parting on the back of the head that cannot be removed
If I make a zig zag parting ( at the back) a few times- with a sharp tail comb, you can remove it! :)
Beautiful
Where is the link please to buy ?
Thank you!!! ❤️
I have that one need to practice
Ooooooo new camera quality!! 😮
I think it's very uncomfortable for sleep with it, doesn't it? Anyone has any advice?
How do you not end up with a weird line of straight hair in the back? I can never get the back to look as nice as yours. 😢
