I was surprised to hear Cillian say he went out of his way to meet Ben and ask him to be in one of his films. He did the same thing with Steve Knight for Peaky Blinders. I always assumed that when you are as talented as he is the roles must just come flowing in. Just goes to show that even the most talented still have to work at it. Success is like 10% luck, 20% talent and 70% perseverance.
That, and it puts him on top in roles he is actually interested in. There will be roles he's invited in for casting, but as he said in the other interview, if you reach out, it's more personal, and it helps.
Thank goodness, in a way! Scarlett Johansson has done a similar thing. Anyway, I think your maths is spot on (tho I'm crap at maths, so that doesn't necessarily mean much, sorry, lol!) xx
Well I think you read my mind, coming from the previous interview I was wondering the same thing ... He said that he doesn't do this often to reach out but Cillian earlier mentioned that he got the role for Disco Pigs the same way, he auditioned for batman because he wanted to meet Nolan somehow . & I think it's not a bad thing if you're talented enough and confident in yourself.
I actually admire his honesty-- to his craft and to going for what he really wants in terms of movies and people he wants to work with. For sure he gets tons of scripts, but having the confidence to pursue something he's passionate about is something else. And the humility to reach out is even more remarkable. And we can see it actually served as a huge compliment to directors like Ben (given he had already written something with Cillian in mind), and Nolan (whose attention he caught with his performance in 28Days Later). On the other hand, those who initially didn't have him in mind would definitely remember him for it. It's refreshing to see talent + passion + will + authenticity in their industry. Having these great qualities pays off.. Not at all surprised he landed Disco Pigs and Peaky Blinders -- both he pursued and became massive hits! ❤️
Worth mentioning how good the sound mix was. See it in the cinema with the best possible speaker system in order to appreciate the sound of those guns.
Just watched this a few days ago and was so pleasantly surprised. I didn't even hear of it in the States. It's hilarious. I was dyin laughing through the entire film. 😂

It also shows his integrity and the passion he's got for movies

I just can't get over the stash on Cillian. haha
Bloody entertaining film.
Especially Sharlto Copley as Vernon. His lines will constantly be in my head for the rest of time.
cillian murphy is beautiful
You're not so dissimilar to him, which means you are a beautiful soul too 💌💫🙏

yes I have to agree, I loved the sound of the AR when arnie hammer uses it and when cillian gets hold of it... cinema FTW.
So excited for this movie and Cillian!
Thomas fookin Shelby
Such an excellent and underrated movie. Free Fire is a gem of a film, with very subtil things going on all at the same time. One of a kind! Loved it!
The humour is approached in such great fashion. The cinema where I watched this allows you to bring in pints, which I highly recommend!
I've been watching this film over and over again.
i saw Cillian Murphy ...i clicked the video😘🔥
Saw it and loved it, well worth my money. I'd highly recommend it.
Saw it yesterday. Great film.
I saw the film yesterday and it was a very enjoyable guilty pleasure. Also reviewed. Regards, Goat at Ruthless Reviews.
Best comedy action movie I've seen in a while (I feel like this sentence doesn't sound English but you got it)

Ian Curtis, Captain Marvel, the Lone Ranger, King Stephano, and the Scarecrow together in this film.
La mejor peli
This film is a masterpiece by Ben. Just loved the movie.
Ben, this film killed it! Well done!
Effing Vernon man.. "Protection from infection" xD
God damn it was is that song played at the beginning of the video
Bro is Oppenheimer
This movie so good and funny everyone should see it 🤣😍
@7:40 so that was not brummie? 😅😅
Who is responsible for the subtitles?! They are so inaccurate, it's ridiculous! The interviews were great and i'm looking forward to seeing the film
Joanne Nolan I believe they're just automatically generated by UA-cam based on sound
Fuck, I hate that I live in the U.S. I'm gonna have to wait till it leaks online
It's out in the States later in April! freefire-movie.com/
aw sweet! thanks!
What is the second film that Michael Smiley mentions at the beginning there?
He talks of "the Serpicos and the Peckinpahs" - so the second reference is the films of director Sam Peckinpah eg The Wild Bunch.
Hope this helps. :)
Exactly what I needed, thank you!
livin the dream
I'm jzt here for Cillian
LMAO same sis
I fucking love this movie!
Cillian was great. The movie itself - not so much.
Great movie......
😫😍😭
The Action sequences strike me as very good but the characters and dialogue didn't connect with me.
Too bad Armie was being a creep and playng BDSM and destroyed his career and that took the movie down.
cillian not looking hot ahhhg
So Unsure really? How is he not hot?
U must be blind. Cillian's divine!!!
