    I was that Bullet guy in Kari 10 years back.
    2019 is when I finally started improving a lot.
    Nowadays when I ride in traffic (after 3 years), I find I'm relaxed at any speed. I know how to break really hard, steer really quickly, trust the motorcycle, keep the powerband, shift fast. Just feels tension free

    Karthikeya's absolute childlike fascination towards everything and Shumi's brutal realism! Contrasting perspectives talking about the same thing and making the most amount of sense! So much to learn🤌

    My first and only track experience was on the BIC on the diesel Race Polo back in 2013. The 6-8 laps left me a changed man.
    I still haven't been able to make it back after all these years. Thanks for sparking the thought once again.
    Today, I promise myself that I will make it back to *some* racetrack by this time next year.

    Just the episode I needed. After the last episode of ThisConnect, I found myself searching for racing schools and how to register for one, comparing prices, noticing that most websites are outdated, and finally stopping at realizing that the cheapest school too is a little out of my budget at the moment. However, Shumi put it into perspective really nicely when he compared the prices of a racing school to hospital bills, and I also realized that there's no price tag attached to passion and experience. This day I make a promise to myself that by the end of 2023, I would have at least had spent 1 weekend at the race track and improved my skills just a bit. Thank you team MotorInc!

    When Shumi said “Race track will make you laugh but the hospital will hurt you first” I felt that. I recently met with an accident and broke my collar bone all because I misjudged my bike’s braking. Going through this podcast made me realise these are very minor/major things that you can learn by trail and error which would mean getting hurt but at the same all this can be done within a day or two once you master it on the racetrack.

    Braking distance points in emergency stop , looking in mirror at the same time that someone doesn't bump in to you from behind too :) Wet braking , so so many little things that the track teaches us which is really applicable on roads daily driving and riding. And yes BREATHE such an imp thing that clears anxiety if any that causes the panic. Thanks for such a great conversation to both of you. lots of learning to take with us.

    I attended my first track school in oct 22 and i crashed on the first day. I agree with not crashing on your first weekend. How i felt after is that it is the safest environment and everyone was like it is normal to crash and you just pickup and continue. Just imagine the scenario if you would have crashed on road. You would have been scared, your mind rush towards thoughts like what the hell happened and now everyone will come to your home or hospital being concerned. This crash changed my perspective about crash on track and it concreted my mind that this is places where i am willing to push to absolute limit without worrying about alot of things. If you crash on your first weekend then it should be learning for you about the environment and not a show stopper

    Then their fully kitted racers took us around the track leading on their stunt Apaches and us on our Apaches trying our best to follow those lines. Glad I didn't crash and had fun.

    Guess what? I won the annual membership at big rock dirtpark in Kolar last month. Was super stoked that i won the lucky draw. Have always enjoyed the fact that i can try something a 100 times in a place like this and even though you don't put efforts consciously, the repetitions make you aware of the situation you're going to be in and what to expect. Definitely agree with sighee saying that we're calmer and with shumi's video game analogy. Exactly why I like a dirtpark and not any random trail.

    I'm always bored when I start listening to podcasts but I always listen till the end whenever Shumi starts speaking. I live in a hilly town in west Bengal and the guys in my area try to prove how fast they can go on the street which makes them think they are very good riders. How do we increase awareness about guys respecting the traffic rules and not try to squid out everytime in the streets? This behaviour can cause a serious accident someday as the streets in my town are very narrow and there are no proper footpaths for pedestrians.

    Quick questions:
    1. I am 39 going to hit 40 in October, am I too old to hit a racer track?
    Personally I have been riding (doing road trips, and long one's specially) since 2006-07. Started from a Pulsar 150, moved to RE Thunderbird 350, then moved to KTM RC390, then to a Kawasaki Vulcan 650, then a Ninja 650 and a Hero XPulse since I wanted to move to Adventure tourers and now finally I own and ride the KTM ADV390.
    I have close to about 90K or more kms covered touring across India.
    2. Can I take my ADV 390 to refer tracks or should I go for a R15 to learn the tricks?
    🙏🙏

      Age is no barrier to the track. It's a lower risk environment that helps you focus on riding. As to what motorcycle to bring? For the first few track sessions, especially if you're going a school? It doesn't matter. Sportsbikes become more important and useful only once you get properly serious about the racetrack (as opposed to just riding skills)

    Great episode as always. I still have a few more doubts as a beginner on a bike regarding the topic which I honestly don't know where else to ask. Mostly about the part where you said we can take our own bikes, no matter what it is, to a track school. So can we take it in stock condition itself, or do we have to get any mods done for safety and other track needs? Like better tires, or sliders to prevent damages during any possible crashes, or messing around with the ABS system to better suit the track (heard somewhere about ABS needing to be switched off for the track?) etc.
    PS: I have to admit I couldn't stop thinking which looked more badass. Kartikeya's moustache or Shumi's beard.

      No mods needed for school. Once you start getting serious about going back to the track, a lot... then you might make changes. But TWO, for example, doesn't ask for ABS changes etc. And most people are so far from the limit of their tyres, that initially, almost any tyre in good shape is enough to come have a great weekend on.

    Ahhh...I assume the audio issue is resolved in this upload.
    Now on to the topic. A track is THE best place to push and discover one's riding/driving skill. An enclosed, controlled environment to learn.
    Unfortunately,I am yet to go to one and would really want to overcome my fear of leaning the bike into corners properly. Till that time comes(soon), maybe I would try and get more settled on the bike which has barely been ridden 3K kms since last February.
    Maybe as the odo climbs up and I learn the ways, I will become more comfortable.
    But the naked truth of one's riding does come out on the track.
    Also about Karthikeya's point of racers being conscious about self preservation in MotoGP, may I present Jack Miller v/s Joan Mir, 2021 DohaGP, lap 19 as an example. 😂😂😂😂

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  2 роки тому +1

      Haha! Good examples!
      Here’s something to try until you can come to the track. Go slower than usual (so you’re calm) and ride by looking farther ahead than usual (this is why you need to go slow - it’s not easy). Keep doing this. And suddenly you’ll realise you keep feeling slow (calm and in control) but you’re going faster!

    Hope we get different type of content... 4 podcasts back to back is slightly getting tiring to watch.. I mean one needs to take out time and watch these to really understand what you guys have to say.. I have enjoyed all the podcasts but genuinely this is slightly getting tiring... may be podcast every sunday?? and different content in mid week... This is not hate comment, just pure feedback from my side and want this channel to grow and I was really pumped since the reboot episode. But all we got are just podcasts... May be so much of different content is getting ready, and we are ready to wait for it instead of getting only podcasts... Really sorry if this comment was very harsh...

    People try to make their videos short because the prevalent school of thought is that today’s attention spans can’t deal with long videos.
    You guys are the antithesis to that premise. This is the second MotorInc video and both times, a half hour just flew by and I came away with value added to my life (except for the time when you dumped on the Dominar 😊).
    Haven’t been to a track or a school yet. Mostly because it is hard doing so from Mumbai. This city is just disadvantageous for recreational motorcyclists in every way. The additional logistics costs are hard to swallow, especially when you have other financial responsibilities.
    But maybe 2023 is the year when I will get a chance to train. What would help is if you could post links to the schools that offer L1 classes.
    By the way I hear that there is an new track coming up at Lonavala. I am not holding my breath though.

      @motorinc  4 місяці тому

      Hi @dineshsubbiah9305, there's no preferred age or motorcycle as such but sports bikes as a format or the most suited for the track. There are different levels of courses too, including a separate one for beginners, which you can start with if you prefer. There are many track schools available, if you'd like you can start with the one Shumi teaches at here: indimotard.com/two

Would like to hear from Shumi regarding this as the front end washes out almost always even at low speed while entering a curve. With good tyres! Is it the rubbish chassis?

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  Рік тому +1

      Of course! The first few times at the track, the bike is far less important because you learn so much so quickly. Front washing out has multiple components, many of which are rider error. Which is what we'll try to solve at the track
