Whereas the ones from countries like America are there because they like Korean culture but don't feel as much pressure to learn it perfectly, especially since more people in Korea speak English but probably almost no-one speaks Persian
Personally I don't believe it matters how long it takes someone to learn a language to sound conversationally fluent or native like. I lived in Korea for 5 years, studied on my own and learnt from youtube and talking with people who only spoke Korean, but by the end of my 3rd year there, I could converse with taxi drivers and by the end of the taxi ride they would turn around and be shocked that I was not Korean. It was basically because I had practiced talking on specific subjects for that specific amount of time during a taxi ride. I still could not converse with the IT guy at my school about why my computer was malfunctioning. Fluency is subjective. Just in the same way I could not talk about certain subjects in English such as politics or economics. The Iranian girl sounded like she had great rhythm and more native like speech pattern. The irony is that once I stopped trying to sound like a native and simply listened and imitated then over time I sounded more and more like a native speaker. My goal was never to sound native, but to be understood. I wish I had studied Korean formally and got a better grasp of Korean grammar, so I could make better grammatically correct sentences.

I know?! I’ll see people make fun of Non Koreans for not being great at Korean, but will applaud Kpop stars for being ok at English, like as long as you can understand the basis of what they’re saying, I think that’s pretty freaking cool, especially if it’s not your first language
I'm sure if it was the other way around, the American guy would also say that they don't have a perfect pronunciation in English (to be specific, "American" English).
Phuong Ngo I'm American and I thought his gestures when they critiqued him showed he was offended (especially the finger across the neck thing, that's a violent gesture). Cucumbers blessings. He’s a koreaboo for speaking Korean and looking a bit upset when he probably thought his accent was good, but they quickly spotted him?

I just noticed he even rolled his eyes slightly at one point. 😅 It's just a matter of perspective, in my opinion he's just over exaggerating his reactions (maybe so he can get more screen time, because Korean TV, reality shows, audience in general love the type of exaggerated humor). Don't take unnecessary offense, it's really not a big deal.
@종이비행기 I thought it was jokes at the start, but his gestures were exaggerated and too much... Edit: I initially just agreed that he was too much and my comment got more likes than expected. wowww, they're pronounciation almost sounds like a native's one- and I laughed every time they called david (kim kyungsoo, youtuber from dkdktv) a foreigner lmaooo
I love listening to people speak in different languages, the way everything is pronounced to the tone of their voices is like so beautiful to me and so interesting too.
All of their Korean is nearly perfect. Grammatically perfect, and pronunciation is perfect too. The only one with a noticesble foreigner accent is the American guy but his Korean is grammatically perfect too. the rest of them speak perfect Korean both grammatically and in pronunciation. I am actually amazed by the fact that foreigners can pronounce Korean as perfectly as native Koreans. They must have studied really hard
There is another side to be able to speak a language without accent (which is really the dominant accent, not accent free): the ability of all the muscles etc involved in speaking to adapt. It's why some people can imitate voices and others can't. I can't do anything outside my own voice. The only two languages I speak besides my native Dutch without a heavy accent are English and German, i.e. from the same language group and the direct neighbours. Even speaking Dutch, while not accented (I come from the dominant accent, Hollands), I don't have a varied tone. My 'speaking system' (so to speak) isn't flexible. I could train 12 hours a day, that won't change much. Some people have a greater flexibility and will have less of an accent in a, to them, foreign language. Accents brought back to their basics, are nothing more than how you place your tongue, use air and air flow, open or close your mouth, speak from chest or throat etc.
nope. i'm korean american and the girl who sits on the right to the american guy (5th female) is also pretty noticeable enough to tell they're definitely not korean at all especially when she did the introduction

That American dude was pretty annoying, he kept rolling his eyes and showing attitude.
Lachimolala • lol
fr like hes mad that he sounds foreign lmfaooo like dude
Thats what i thought aswell, i was like boiii can u stop it’s annoying
He was a weirdo
I stopped watching this because of him, he was getting on my nerve
I am so impressed with the language skills of these non-Korean students. Excellent job.
The guy is so funny lol he spoke about coronavirus and then stopped and then trying to promote his restaurant and then got cut and then asking about Parasite only to get "It was good" as an answer 😂😂😂🤣 I was like,, lmao
why is the american guy getting pissed for being called a foreigner? his skills in speaking obviously shows it and his attitude certainly doesn't help
Because he was picked out so fast he was disappointed in himself after studying so long..
That was just his American humor
@@ellie5017 That was not humor
It’s how Americans act. He could be more mindful of being in Korean atmosphere, but as an American it isn’t intended to be rude, instead to be lightening the mood.
@@sienarodriguez8703 i don't think its cause he's american, i think thats just his personality
I love how everyone’s bashing the American guy in the comments
I didnt even notice him expressing himself in the vid. He barely spoke.
Filip Petrović he has his legs and arms crossed and around 4:16 and 4:26 u can see him making annoyed faces which he does throughout the whole time. His legs and arms crossed can be seen as arrogant to some. I’m not sure ab his personality but It’s clear that he was annoyed that ppl thought he was a foreigner. And the ppl in the comments find this stupid and call him a Karen for that since he’s acting like they are wrong for not praising him. I agree, I mean he’s a foreigner with an accent ofc they will know
@@filippetrovic845 you can tell by his body language
@@Yami-ss4xi I know, and i think he has some mental issues but he handled it atleast.
I know because i am also korean language learner and i am anxious when someone asks me to speak. I would be pissed off if i met non native speaker that speaks better than me.
무지한 노력을 한 사람들 이네요. 전에는 외국인들이 한국말 하면 어눌했었는데 어학당에서 잘 가르치고 있는것 같습니다. 모두 한국에서 행복하시길.
I love how they just couldn’t take anything for face value and kept thinking of like a 100 conspiracies which eventually derailed them loool
@acquaintanced with a blender 😂 chill, no one said it was bad, their paranoia/overthinking was totally relatable & hilarious
acquaintanced with a blender
Wrong.
I would be worse. I’d be screaming at the camera guy that there are no actual Koreans while sweating my balls off shook at every other word they say...
Ceren totally told kyungsoo the hanja for his name!!! Lol and to see the faces of them all while theory spout theories was very entertaining. Except the american. I was scared of him.
the american guy was annoying not gonna lie. He was rolling his eyes at literally everything

The American guy is weird lmao like why was he acting like that
Because content. He was told to act up for views, comments algorithm, drama...
I think he’s just joking it feels kind of normal in America for people to be overly dramatic and pretend they’re offended and mad to be funny
He looks like your basic weeboo
Because he's American
The sense of entitlement, like everything should be automatically handed over to him, even if he doesn't deserve it
I clicked because I saw david 😂. Poor him he was really roasted 😂.
I haven’t watched the whole video but the guy in the middle needs to calm down 😬😂 It’s very hard for any foreigner in any language to sound completely native especially if they didn’t learn it as a child. He should be very proud of himself!
Lowkey scary with that look at 7:05 and the hand gesture 😳 it ain't that serious
At 4:31 he was having a *fit* in the background why was he so mad?
grey king Yes, I honestly found his gestures very odd and threatening
종이비행기 ok but like he never once mentioned his sexuality why do you have to bring that into this and why do you assume it?
@@something6510 He is inmature. How could he get so mad at them? They didn't said nothing disrespectful to anybody, they are trying literally to guess if he is korean or not...I would kick his ass when he did the gestures on 7:05 as @grey king appointed
Question for native Korean speakers: I saw in another video that Kim Kyung-Soo speaks perfect English, which makes me think he lived in the U.S. for a while. Often, if someone lives in another country for a long time, their native tongue can become slightly accented. Does he sound a little bit like a foreign born Korean?
네. 어색한 억양 또는 발음간의 미묘한 차이가 존재합니다
sorry i can't speak eng TT
Don’t worry I used google translate! That’s so interesting! I guess it makes sense that they thought he was a foreigner
Yes, he sounds like a typical Korean American I think
His name Danny kim .He runs a youtube channel by the name DKDK tv..He is foreign born .
저는 완전한 한국인처럼 들렸는데 사람들마다 생각이 다르군요

Lol the western guy seems offended at everything they say haha
I saw that too. He keeps rolling his eyes as if you say “that’s a dumb question”🙄.
he was so annoying
@@gay4vivi294 ok.....
He didn't like being the worst and he handled it like a baby. It's the white male American way.
Juliet Tyler haha yeah he seemed annoyed by everything they said and at the end he even said “Japanese is not” and then they cut it because he probably was acting like a baby. Like what is wrong with being Japanese. I’m sorry not sorry but he really is disrespectful to me...
