    The confusing thing to me about this “7%“ is there is not one food item that I’m aware of what the price was that only went up 7%. For instance Walmart brand spaghetti sauce had been $.88 forever and is now $1.28 that is more than 7%. Another item at Walmart that used to be $2.50 it’s now $3.54 again a food item. Shrinkflation is Israel - there are four food items that I used to purchase at Dollar tree for a dollar that decreased in size and are now $1.25 that is 25% of an increase of every food product sold at dollar tree. The struggle is when you already only purchased low price items non-brand-name items you can’t go any lower than that. Even the vending machine at my work went up 25%! And when gasoline was $1.56 in 2020 and is now $3.99 that is more than 7%. I do realize these are averages but there is not one item that I purchased that has not gone up- and that includes household bills

      They lie with statistics, it's one of Bill Gates favorite books. Because I know eggs were 2.50 this time last year, now they are 4.45 for the cheapest carton. That's more than a 50% increase.

      No ur wrong and i work in a manufacturing sector. The primary cause of inflation has been the rapid increase in the money supply by the fed to subsidize the federal govts massive deficit spending. Inflation is always is caused by credit created from thin air. It didnt help to pay people not to work. Wage inequity has been going up since nixon keft Breton woods and the fed started money printing snd deficit spending. Wall street got rich, middle class was destroyed.

      You've got this! We have cut way down on meat consumption. I buy chickpeas in bulk, soak 2-3 cups a week, cook them, then use them in recipes to stretch the meat or go strictly vegetarian.
      Last night we had turkey-chickpea-vegetable soup with turkey stock and a handful of chopped meat. Served over basmati rice with a dollop of greek yogurt this is a tasty, filling, and satisfying meal. The tube of you is a great place to get frugal vegetarian leaning meal ideas and sauce recipes. I make everything possible from scratch, including sauces and condiments.
      Another favorite meal is a Thai inspired coconut-chickpea curry made with dollar tree coconut milk, peanut butter, Thai inspired curry spices, a sweetener, some ACV, chickpeas, and vegetables. You can make it hot with red pepper flakes or keep it mild. I usually get 8 servings for less than $3.
      Another soup trick is to save broccoli stems and dark green cabbage leaves, chop small and freeze to add to soups. Freezing improves the texture. Onions, scallions, celery, carrots, cabbage, greens, and herbs are enough to make a variety of frugal meals. Then there are lentils, barley, oats, masa, pasta, rice, beans, and canned tomatoes.

    • @vshah1010
      @vshah1010 2 роки тому

      Small landlords are not a monopoly and they can't price gouge. Expenses include Real Estate taxes, which may be too high and which the landlord has to pay, and that keeps expenses high. The city raised the RE Tax, even while they were closed for the first year of the pandemic. When expenses are high, the landlord has to charge more rent.

    You know, I have heard from some Conservatives the reason why we shouldn't increase the minimum wage is because it could lead to increased inflation. The problem is price inflation happens every year, which is why nothing costs the same today as it did a decade ago. And yet, because the federal minimum wage hasn't increased in over a decade, anyone who works a minimum wage job has far less spending power today then they did 10 years ago because of that same inflation.

      I did that living overseas and they are delicious. I also made cheese crackers. Another easy bread-y thing are flour tortillas (They don't have to be perfectly round) and English muffins (made in pan on stove top). I also make cornbread. I make my own "mix". Then it's quick. Muffins too. I also made a solar oven out of recycled materials. It is great! Just look up solar cooking recipes. They need some adjustments.

    Why does no factor in corporate greed? Corporations earning call suggest companies are making tons of money off of inflation. Companies (many that are basic monopolies) are raising prices higher than needed and pulling in sometimes near record breaking profits. They are doing this for the profits (obviously) but also to frame inflation as being caused be the increases in wages some workers are earning. I am unsure as to why this is not explored and highlighted be the media and why no action is being taken by governments to address this. I believe it has to do with corporate money in politics. It's interesting to reflect on how much would get done for the average American if corporations were unable to buy politicians on both sides of the aisle.

      Because the corporate media is reporting. All these news channels are owned or sponsored by the same corporations that are making record profits. The news stations won’t report on their bosses.
