I would totally go to a partially instrumental linkin park show. Let the crowd sing the lyrics we know the words. It would be much more respectful and emotionally powerful

@Christopher Bingham i think you're missing the point. I know not everyone knows the lyrics i was just being hyperbolic. Thing is I believe nobody could replace Chester and thats ok, and a live show with the remaining LP leaving that blank space musically might be a powerful mourning experience for the fans. Also I love LP instrumentals like a lot even with the vocals turned off

But with him making a project completely separate from nirvana, i’m sure he doesn’t want to be asked constantly about “Kurt this, or Nirvana that.” I’m sure the same thing applies to Mike, when your best friend kills yourself would you want it to be rubbed in your face?

As a Linkin Park fan, I know and understand that nobody can ever 'replace' Chester. He was one of a kind when it comes to vocals. To find somebody that versatile would be so damn hard. But as a fan, I am open to them touring again with somebody else as a singer or just them without Chester's vocals. I just want them to start playing again together.
You need to watch the Portuguese tribute band. The singer is so much close to Chester’s voice . They’ve just sold out almost an entire arena with 15,000 people. They are insane .

I love everything about Linkin Park and I understand that it's a hard choice to make.
Adding someone else to sing Chester-like vocals is extremely hard to do, because Chester really had a very unique talent, and also generates debate
Adding a hologram with A.I generated voice by the other hand, feels like opening a casket and puppeteering the corpse
To me they could tour playing "The rest of Linkin Park", the rap, the crazy mixes, the punchy guitars, it's not complete, but it's still great. Later with time maybe they (and us) start feeling comfortable with a new member, if not it's ok too
I still feel they should find a new singer, and while you can't replace Chester you can find someone very talented that can be close enough that the band can continue in that same style. I actually would love to see them add Ai Mori as lead singer. Being female she would be different from Chester, so not like they were trying to replace him with a copy, but she can sing very similar to Chester and she's a huge fan. I don’t think they would need to replace Chester with someone new as Mike is a perfectly good singer himself. Either way what ever they decide to do I’m 100% with them.
@@mranonymous1162 I think it would sound empty, Linkin Park was great at exploring a wide musical range, they need some emotional melodic component in addition to Mike Shinoda to be Linkin Park, I reckon that though Chester is irreplaceable and we will honor him for life, there is still some more Linkin Park to be had. I honestly doubt that Chester would want to see Linkin Park die, let alone be the cause of it. I think we as fans and Linkin Park as a band can honor and continue this legacy without being weird about it

in the tribute show to Chester, everyone in the crowd was singing to a Numb instrumental . I wasn't there but watched live online and it was very moving , mix of emotions but all of Linkin Park fans know basically every line and especially Chester's. I mean I'm not saying the crowd would definitely be able to hit every line through out every song but the point is fans would show up and linkin park fam would all be together again and definitely probably be singing as much as they could... I know people probably wouldn't want to go to a show to sing but it could work and be a very uplifting experience for everyone that shows up even if Chester's parts were instrumental only or his voice from previously recorded albums.
It could work in parts, but a crowd singing the whole show would be too much of an ask from any band.

@@James-hc4jd I was there too and it was crazy. It was amazing and sad but both in a good way, a very tasteful celebration. They gave us all this wrist bands and they lit up with the songs too which added even more depth and emotion to both the lyrics and event as a whole.

If LP wanted to tour with a lead singer of a different style from Chester. I’m 100% in. Sum 41 & Mike played Faint together live and Deryck’s style of vocals fit really well. Support the guy’s decision on whatever they do.

Nah. We have their music and recordings of past shows to listen to. If Mike and the rest of the guys wanted to continue making music I wouldn’t be opposed but adding another singer doesn’t seem right.

I’ve accepted the fact that the band will live on forever but they’re pretty much done now. I don’t see another tour happening. A new album is never happening. It’s over and that’s fine. The band was the most complete band in history with how versatile and genre bending their albums were each cycle. They did it all. Chester was the glue that held it all together. He’s not here anymore and that hurts but it’s fine. We just gotta move forward and appreciate what he left behind for us.
This 1 minute clip of him talking about what he thinks about holograms, and how he talks about context and that he think it's great when people try new things regardless of how it pans out, is a perfect insight into who he is as a person and what makes him such a great artist. This man has an immaculate thought process.

Why not just use previously recorded vocals of Chester ?
Adding someone else to sing Chester part would be totally a no no for many reasons starting with the technical ones. The hologram should be out of the conversation for ever: imagine a friend passed away like that, singing in an hologram form the vocals which you write down together, live together, experience together…in Mike and the team members shoes it would be emotionally weird af and sad. There’s no way
I'd go to a Linkin Park show with guest appearances or even instrumental with the crowd singing.
If Mike just sang all he could, I would go regardless of price.

Mike knows how hard its gonna be to make fans happy when it comes to getting a vocalist... and its SUPER hard to connect with someone again like that as well... This is a tough spot

Best way they can do it is either do a tribute concert show where they invite other band singers to cover songs while the linkin park band plays the instrumenals. Also allowing the audience and fans to sing the songs at times as well.
They already did at hollywood bowl 2017, but i dont think thats a solution for the next few years

I think the best move they could make is to have no replacement and have the crowd sing Chester’s parts. They have hits everyone knows and songs that Mike has performed on his own. At their final show they did that for numb and in the end and I could see it working for many of their other songs.
For me the only way is to bring in a big name from a band/artist they feel comfortable with and leave the usual 2/3 songs like in the end or numb to be sung by the crowd. However, i think that we will have to wait at least 2/3 more years

I don't know about a tour, but I had the idea that if they ever did another album that could have a guest artist for each song, similar to how Apocalyptica did songs with Corey Taylor, Brent Smith, etc.
No need for hologram, there is a portuguese band called hybrid theory,when i say the singer nails chester to the T, but chester is chester the passion is ofcourse different , but this would be epic , for some sort of collab
I think the only option here is to start from scratch, redirect the trajectory of Linkin Park and use a few old songs (like 2-3) for special occasions, while the rest of the material will be new
Does anyone remember during Hollywood Bowl they used the 2014 footage when they play new divide but they had Chester's isolated live vocals instead?
A Chester hologram would be so very heartbreaking, to both the fans and to the band as well.
If they feel comfortable by finding a new lead singer that would be great but as some people mentioned in the comments Chester had a unique voice and replacing him might be hard to do.
Who knows, if LP do really want to do future events/tours then I'm down for either LP finding a new lead singer or Mike himself becomes the lead singer, or if singers out of other bands sing Chester's lyrics 🙂

I don’t think that Linkin Park tour is possible without Chester. I saw gig they played in memory of him and the truth is that no one was able to sing the songs properly. It is very sad story, all of us get so emotional about it but please don’t ask for comebacks. The day when Chester passed away was the day when Linkin Park become a memory.
I mean there are tons of singers out there that can sing Chester's parts, just look at the memorial concert they did. I know, no one can replace Chester, but there are options out there to have an actual singer on tour with them. I'd be okay with it.
It’s an impossible situation they’re in. If they get a new singer he’s not going to be anywhere close to Chester everyone is going to compare his singing to Chester’s and a lot of the song writing came from Chester’s trauma and pain. And if they go the holograms route well then people will be upset because there isn’t a live person performing for them. It just isn’t the same. I think people still want to see linkin park live but they’re gonna need more time to figure out what the move is and find the right guy who can at least contribute enough to the band vocally and lyrically to keep them touring. I think it would be a mistake to rush the process just for the sake of letting the fans see linkin park again. Because tbh without Chester it’s gonna feel weird for the band and the fans for a long time until we’re all used to it.

Chester was unique and he cannot be replaced end of. His voice really made Linkin park not to mention the words in a lot of the songs represented him and his struggles with his mental health so that does not really work using another singer. Whatever the guys decide to do LP will not be LP without Chester. If anything give themselves another name. I am pleased Mike Shinoda does not agree with a hologram. For me that would be so disrespectful to Chester.

Let's be honest here. The only way that they can ever move on, if they even want to play shows as Linkin Park again, is to find a new singer. No hologram, AI or whatever can replace Chester, and neither can a new singer. The only thing to do do is to go the Queen & Adam Lambert route. Find a person Chester would like to hear. And the fans will eventually accept "Linkin Park & x"
The only people I think IMO that should replace him is one of his kids, Chester was one of a kind and I think he is the greatest singer that ever lived.
Could you imagine LP with Rob Halford, Chino Moreno, Corey Taylor or some left curve like that??

If they did go on tour again, I feel like they could just play around Chester's pre-recorded vocals either studio or live performances. It may be a bit weird but it could work. It's probably the only way if holograms are out of the question and of course replacing Chester altogether is out of the question.
It would be better to have a singer. I think they first should release songs like lost and fighting myself. It would be kinda farewell and then move on. Chester will never be forgotten. And many bands already did it. The previous singers will forever be legends

As much as we miss Chester, I think the right move is to find someone else. I mean, the creative power is still there, just need to find the talent for the vocals. Doesnt have to sound like Chester but it still can sound like Linkin Park. Maybe they just need a little time but i hope they dont wait too long. Its been six years and these guys are getting to be a bit older.

Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and independent singer Alex McMillan could be an amazing replacement for Chester. They’re the next best thing.
Not really. Deryck's vocals haven't been great for a while now (plus he has his own very successful band) while Alex can't really properly scream to the point of not doing screams or even slightly distorted vocals in his covers anymore. Tone-wise, yeah, they seem like they'd be good options, but neither of them are anywhere near Chester in terms of vocal abilities.
As sad as it is, we won't see Linkin Park on stage anymore, other than maybe something like that Hollywood Bowl show with special guests. And I think that's okay.

They can tour just the five of them. How they have another singer after CHESTER? If it was any other singer, it'd be viable but... Now that they don't have that hunger like before, they're perfectly complacent with no doing no more LP for the rest of their lives, and who could replace him doing new songs or covering Chester's lines? It'd be too weird, and would be more like an homage than a band continuation. It'll be pretty much have to be seen as a different band, and that's a long way down the road, they don't really care about continuing LP anymore.

Russian band from the 80's, "Keenó" (Кино) - their leader became very important, but he's been dead for 30 years now, - they did some concerts using only his vocals and some stylistic pics of him on the screen. I don't think that it's really bad or disrespectful; certainly its much better than using their songs by russian soldiers now when they kill civilian ukrainians...

I've been a serious fan of LP for a very long time.
Because of the bands persona of being kind of futuristic, electronica, linked to commuters and what not (Points of Authority music video shows their heads linked to computers by cables), I think an AI voice, with a hologram/onscreen face kind of thing would work for them.

It would be wildly odd & original for sure, and it might be off-putting for people without explanation; but in context, I think it makes sense.
Why do we create art? So that we can live forever in our work. So that after our death, part of us remains. Music is art. Every time I listen to LP, the only personal experience I've ever had with Chester is alive and well. His existence in my personal experience has been a voice in music, and if his voice returned to their music, it'd be like he's still alive. When I listen to his music even now, he IS alive. He's still speaking to me. He's still swaying my emotions; even though he's "Lost" in the matrix of the music.

Besides, uploading brains into computers, and uploading the voices of loved ones to computers so you can talk with them after death is all already in the works.
From what I remember Grey Daze trained Chester's son to do his father's vocals on quite a few tracks. I can't even tell which tracks he fills in on. If his son's that good and trained hard as hell... Why not use his son to fill in for his dad?
That might be a decent idea honestly, at least to do some shows.
I don't think I would necessarily want to see such a collaboration yield all new music, but plenty of bands have stopped putting out new music and just tour now and then to play the hits. If his son can emulate his voice well enough it might be a nice way to keep Linkin Park alive as a Touring Band at the very least.
@@rashira9610 I'm not super in depth on Grey Daze but from what I heard you can't really even tell it's his son on certain tracks. I think he's nailed it pretty well if you can't totally differentiate. I'd say my only concern is if he has the same vocal power as his dad considering certain songs have super loud and aggressive screams (and then there's Given up with that 18 seconds scream) but I'll try to dig around a bit more and see how many tracks he filled in on and for how long.

I was thinking, that perhaps Chester's kids could be a part of the tour, kind of singing Chester's parts. Would be quite interesting and would definitely go also.
There are a lot of singers out there that sound really close to Chester. If they're going to tour, they should either replace him, respectfully.
If they're going to retire at least they have to do one live show with Chester's hologram as their farewell to every single fan in the world.

There is a guy named Ivo Rosario and Mike knows about him and he is simply refusing to think about getting him in the band potentially. Sure, Chester can never be replaced but that's the issue. Bands move on and they either find a replacement or they just disband and linking park will have to make the same decision eventually
