Whenever I feel like I haven't accomplished anything or that something is getting in my way, I always come back to this song... It's so powerful! Love it! Again, I stopped the waterfall by just believin!
I've been hooked to this song for the last 2 weeks. I absolutely love how it slows down after the "again" part and then it goes into the mid tempo part "an idea calls...". That part and the vocal harmonies are sooo catchy. Great sing along section
Paul Stein make sure you have some solid psychedelics with you, I'd recommend some pure LSD or some good mescaline. Can never go wrong with Shrooms either, just make sure you keep your stash safe!
the idea for this album was always there, the seed took root over many years. indeed it did. fucking BEAUTIFUL album! i feel like it was all building up to this. :D :D
So to me, after 8yrs if analysing this song, I believe that depression is the waterfall.. the so called "downward spiral"... And whenever I suffer a bout of depression I come back here and remember 💞
Just started listening to my morning jacket a bit, and I like them so far. This song is very Pink Floyd-esque, to me at least. Vocals even sound similar!
I don't know much about My Morning Jacket (I had heard of them but they are not that well known in Britain), but being a fan of Rhiannon Giddens led me to 'The New Basement Tapes' project and Jim James, so I thought that I would have a listen. Interesting- sounds remarkably like early Blue Oyster Cult (a good thing). His voice and the slightly 'detached' vocals as well as the guitar and keyboard sound. I will have to listen to a few more songs to see if this song is typical.
+Portcullis There isn't much typical about MMJ. They are very hard to put in any category. They are considered alt rock, a jam band, alt country, psychedelic, southern rock, etc. The passion from the band and especially Jim James is part of what makes them great. Their live performances show this and that's the main thing that separates them from most bands. Check out some live action to see what I'm talking about
nice tag with Blue Oyster Cult, def some 70s proto black metal here. and as other commenter said, they have a lot of different styles, which make them pretty amazing. their early indie rock/ alt country is something to check out before anything else. you get a sense what the soul of Yames is and the band.
I believe the water fall represents negative feelings like depression or anger or whatnot, and he's saying that the feelings were always there and grew more rooted over many years, but the "water fall" was stopped because he simply thought himself out of the feelings and believed that it was all in his head, which I believe is the case with depression almost 98% of the time.
Right exactly our brains are a mystery science can’t even explain the activity occurring in our brains the neurotransmitters still communicating between cortexes after we have FLATLINED and stopped receiving any oxygen there is still major spurts of activity going on!
You all know with your hightend senses .I'm smartin up how my life went I'm waiting .give me what I want.waitih got me killed inside so I'm not waiting.
Nate watson I understand where you're coming from but MMJ has been doing this since the fleet foxes were being weaned from their mother's teet. These are the OG's.
+SilverFox Oh please stop with all this American Dad nonsense! At least tell those of us who aren't here because of American Dad in which episode they appear or are referenced! Not personal though, but it's a very recurring comment and it does get a bit annoying when people are commenting about the TV show instead of how fucking awesome these songs are.
The fact that this is almost 10 years old scares me. Time really does fly by
This song kicks 10 thousand asses.
Whenever I feel like I haven't accomplished anything or that something is getting in my way, I always come back to this song... It's so powerful! Love it!
Again, I stopped the waterfall by just believin!
My Morning Jacket is such a gem in an age where "rock bands" are something of a dying art form.
***** absolutely. A true modern rock band.
And this is such a badass song I play it on repeat
I remember hearing this for the first time in my car full-blast. I wasn't expecting to have my mind blown like that!
exactly same !!!!!!!!!
I hope you got the point.
@@johnedwardkerr7814 & I thought that Taj Mahal was magic.
Another gem from this stellar band.
Holy fucking shit, this song's fantastic.
Absolutely one band I need to see before I bite the big one !!!!
I've been hooked to this song for the last 2 weeks. I absolutely love how it slows down after the "again" part and then it goes into the mid tempo part "an idea calls...". That part and the vocal harmonies are sooo catchy. Great sing along section
chills every time I hear it up and down my arm.
Truly a gift from heaven thank you Jim !!!!!
This is an utterly amazing song. Up there with the best of the 70s prog rock!
this was added to my playlist to help me calm my nerves...totally speaks to a soulmate stepping out and betraying trust
I love this, love the 2:31 change
🔥🔥
That breakdown at the end... such a tasty riff!
Reminds me of my acid trip cause i listened to it during my acid trip back in in the summer of 2017 oh how i miss those days
I hope you had a nice acid trip sir
2:32 = Magic!
I can't stop listening to this one. See you at Bonnaroo MMJ!

I saw them in Pemberton #1, good show.
awesome. I cant get enough of this band
I cried a waterfall when I heard this.
Thank you WNCW for turnig turning me on to this for the commute home.
my morning jacket and the flaming lips should do a collaborative album
they reference Lips in some interviews. Tenn Fire and At Dawn had ton of lo fi Lips songs that seemed like a def nod to Lips
1:35 Gave me the chills man.
+tommy adler-mandile you just gotta shake your head at that beauty
My eyes started to water when that little lick hit.
2:30 for me
This song reminds me so much of classic Blue Oyster Cult.
Can't wait to have my mind blown at Red Rocks this summer.
You're not kidding. We're spoiled here with such an amazing venue. Hopefully one of many shows I see this summer.
Same! Ive loved them for 5+ years but live in North Dakota so i havent gotten the chance to see them but im coming to that Red Rocks concert!
Wyatt Torvik hey
Paul Stein see you there!

i just LOVE this band
Just started listening to my morning jacket a bit, and I like them so far. This song is very Pink Floyd-esque, to me at least. Vocals even sound similar!
I love this song, reminds me of cruisin in my car with my gorgeous old lady..
Thanks American dad for this gem of a band
Again...again...again...
Thanks

On repeat.
Amazing.
3:40 is where I start to lose it :)

Who is here in 2022? 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Dope ! Thanks
I looked them up because of American dad too. love them!
1:00
This reminds me of the STORY "the ravine"
this song is so great, they even sound like Pink Floyd on this one.
Close enough to pay homage, different enough to be completely original and modern.
For real.
a good handful of shrooms, 3h in i recommend. and a pair of good headset with this on repeat. nothing beats. your weekend gone like time traveler
1:33 - 1:50 ...or “How to make 17 seconds last forever.”
"Onion rings.... Onion rings.... Onion rings... Onion-I stopped the waterfall by simply thinking..." Such a rad song.
Uh..
What
I don’t have a waterfall near me so I turned all the faucets on in my house while I played this song.
Is it just me or it sounds a lot like Circuital album? I mean, a Circuital 2.0, same psychedelia but improved haha :3
I think this album tells a different story in a similar way. I'd agree with you.
the idea was always there.
American dad got me hip
The ORIGINAL "tame Impala" everybody 🚀
Idk man Kevin was definitely more into rock in his youth
As in like garage rock
The idea was always there...
@@MindfulMike520 glad someone else has ears ❤️
onION.....onion....ONIONNNnn
The only good thing Siri has done for me.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH SO GOOD HECK

what does this song means to you?

great song!!! sorry but at certain point i found myself listening to BARRY MANILOW.
Bernie D3000 Haaa, dude that's so funny you said that, When I try to explain these guys to people I tell them it's like a psychedelic Mannilow.
Again.....again......self awareness
🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
.........
i love it, but it definitely feels like my morning fleet foxes
Nate watson I understand where you're coming from but MMJ has been doing this since the fleet foxes were being weaned from their mother's teet. These are the OG's.
+rand42Studios My Mornthony Jacktano here.
omg I was thinking that too..but I love fleet foxes and mmj so it makes sense that this song sounds great
Like Philip said, MMJ was around for years before Fleet Foxes. And MMJ rocks WAY more than FF.
