    With a analogue synthesizer you would generate the wind noise by filtering white noise with a varying resonance frequency. However, realtime filtering would have completely occupied MC68000 CPU. In the Battle Squadron sound track they just looped statically colored noise and then modulated replay sample frequency using Paula. A pretty clever trick.
