  • Soldiers on a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon were given a hero's welcome at Dublin airport today.
Wives, husbands, partners and children of the 232 troops from the 114th Infantry Battalion wept tears of joy as they were reunited with their loved ones following their six-month tour of duty as part of the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL).

This is my dream job if only I wasn't feckin disabled total pain in the hole. One thing I have to say is I dont like the way you can grow facial hair now and iv seen a picture of a general and his trousers weren't tucked into his boots thats just my opinion tho slacking a bit

Facial hair can only be grown if you are having skin conditions cause by excessive shaving and this is for a limited amount of time, shaving against the grain every day of your life is actually terrible for you, that is why some have facial hair, as for moustaches, they have always been allowed in our military, so that is nothing new. Also, unblousing of boots is usually done on an operational basis, a soldiers most useful tool are his feet, blousing boots operationally can be hindering when dealing with wet conditions and unblousing can prevent water getting into the boots. Hope that has cleared it up, it doesn't necessarily mean anyone is slacking, Ireland has a very professional military, especially when the lack of funding is taken into account.
