This is why I love my job. I'm a full-time Ramp Agent at BNA. Only been working a few months now but SWA hired me at 18 with no job experience whatsoever. Anything is possible!
Congratulations, I really want to be a ramp agent at 18 at BNA, I am currently 17. I just have a few question, like where do you park, how is it like when extreme cold hits, and how bad is it when flights get delayed.
@@geedave1maybe I can help with a few of those questions. I’m in IND so it’s a little different than BNA. Employees at the airport usually have a designated parking lot. Most stations you will have to park and hop on a shuttle bus to get to the terminal. Working in the extreme cold can be rough at times but you are provided with pretty heavy duty winter gear. De-icing is not fun in an open bucket during snow storms. I would suggest to get comfortable driving the de-ice truck so you can stay cozy in the heated cab while you watch your partner get covered with snow and glycol. Delayed flights can be good or bad depending on your shift. It can get you out of working said flights or they can give you mandatory overtime to work those late flights if they are short staffed, which in most cases they are. Double time for mandatory overtime helps but not if you’re tired, cold and just want to go home.
Excellent video!! You got some cool shots, like the one on the "luggage train!" This job looks like a lot of fun! Have you seen all the SWA special liveries?
Hope you're doing well boss, I just started as a ramper at AUS with Southwest, and made me want to come look at this video. Many I have met started at BDL, so it comes full circle. Again, hope you're doing well man 😎
Thank you! I love the ramp and what I do but my heart is still in the sky and a flight attendant may be the next step. But I do not see myself with any other employer other than SWA!
Reasons I wanna do this job. 1-I love airplanes, 2-Its the door to my future career as an A&P Mechanic especially with Southwest Airlines. 3- Im a hands on type of guy and love working outside. 4- Very good union, 5-Good money, 6- Great benefits 7- Southwest is known for treating there employees very well.
It"s Not like it used to be at all. They Luv to FUCK you over given the chance. The Union is Only as good as the Local , and or the Union Rep"s behind you.
*hey I follow you on Instagram for years now! Didn’t know you did youtube too?! I do too* just got an interview for ramp with an airline today...waiting to hear back(: sick video!
Your preaching to the choir! ITS THE WORLDS BEST COMPANY! BEEN HERE ALMOST 3 MONTHS AND ITS TRULY AMAZING AND WERE SO BLESSED TO WORK FOR SUCH A GREAT AIRLINE! LOVE THE VIDEO MAN IM A DENVER RAMPER! WAS ABLE TO TAKE MY MOM TO Portland for the 4th of July! just a quick 24 hour trip it fell on my days off for the bid and walking through DIA and seeing my COHEARTS and supervisors and meeting them she was just amazed about how happy my co hearts were to be working on July 4th! and we talked a ton about southwest on the way out and she was just in awe of how many people I knew and her personal favorite was the BBQ that I had a friend bring us up because it was the 4th the station got us all burgers and dogs and brats and I had a co worker meet us in the jetway with it!
Did my phone interview for the ramp agent Friday January 17th, 2020 I hope I get a good response from the recruiter soon, not sure how long it takes, I applied in the Houston area
Just got hired on at southwest MDW as a photographer and cinematographer myself man this is the visual I'd love to recreate. Any advice? Did you use a dslr?
Used to work as a rampie for American Eagle at BNA. Loved that job so much, but couldn't keep it because I couldn't handle working late at night and flight training in the morning. Would definitely have kept it if i worked less.
I was a ramper for American Eagle at BNA many years ago too. I got fired for wearing a Union hat on the ramp. Fucked up Management , Fucked Up Union 555 No Balls, Right to Work State, SWA can fire you for any fucking thing they can DREAM UP..
I find it VERY hard to believe that this job enables you to TRAVEL, i.e. your statement of "Over 40 flights, close to 30,000 miles flown". DON'T get me wrong... I just applied for this very gig at SAN and hope for the best... yet if it entails ANY travel perks whether on the clock or not then this DOES sound like an exceptional career choice or stepping stone within SW. Let me know...
Waooo I'm totally amazed inspired and thrill to just see this vid and the job they do. I'm already looking to apply at any Air line I could to obtain this amazing job opportunity. Bash they just asked me about work history which i had none.... Got and email the next day for orientation, Did orientation Did my drug test and now got my fingerprint appointment.

Pushback begins at 1:14, you can see a wing walker but i'm not sure if that is you or not. See if you can figure it out.
