A few months ago, I decided to purchase an oscilloscope. Since I already own (and like) some Rigol equipment, I looked at their offerings. I settled on the MSO5000 as it met my needs and fit within my budget. Then… I discovered your video series on the MSO5000. Your videos are like a customized tutorial on that model. My MSO5000 just arrived and now I can try everything you explain and demonstrate. Thank you very much!

Thanks for the update and review of the Rigol MSO5000. I love your explanation and demonstration. Am saving up for the Rigol and PLA part.

Thanks again for your generosity in sharing your knowledge without even allowing ads. It's a great service. I fretted over buy the MSO5000 after seeing the early reports like EEVlog, I read forums for hours before buying it and hoped they were just early bugs. Your videos have made me feel better about my decision. I like it alot, but don't have much to compare it too other than my DS2000 series I had.
EDIT: I think the price for the logic probe it a bit high too. In fairness it includes the license, and the cable isn't just a cable. My understanding is that it contains buffers and the scope controls it to set threshold levels. Not positive on it all, but seen X-rays of it.

Thank you so much for doing more out of it than any reasonable person could expect! May I please ask you if you think the DIY logic probe I gave you a link to maybe can be an acceptable alternative to the original and expensive logic probe?

Question: Can you use the 4 analog inputs to decode SPI I2C etc or do you have to buy the expensive logic probe to use those features?

Digilent announced the new Analog Discovery Pro series. The first in the series is the ADP 3450 powered by Xilinx Zynq SoC (XC7Z020 CLG484), which has a 4-channel scope with external triggering capability.
I wonder if you had tried one of these, and what is your opinion about the $1,300 unit?
You previously reviewed the AD and DD, and I would love to hear your thoughts about the ADP 3450 as well.
    Thank you.

Have you tested the highest frequency/bit rate that the LA probe can process.

I'm a little confused: At about 22:00 you mentioned and delay or skew between the analog and digital displays if the AD Discovery but I see a delay between the all-ones point and the peak of the sine wave in your display. Is this the DAC's delay? I thought most DAC's were nearly instantaneous given that they are a resistor network that is summed in to an output buffer. So, you are saying that if you have no device delays, that the RIGOL is perfectly sync'd? Anyway thanks for showing this equipment as well as your other great videos! 73...

I was wondering about that myself. I couldn't see the trigger setup and thought Tom said D0 was the trigger. If that was the case I don't see why the sign wave on CH1 was stable. It was getting several inconsistent values down to D2 also

So does the logic analyzer module also enable additional multi level triggering capability such that you can look for specific bit patterns across the digital channels?

Yes, for details refer to Chapter 5 of the MSO5000 manual which you can download from the Rigol website (get the May 2020 or later edition). You might also watch TTT376 which summarizes the triggers and which work only on analog channels (most, like the pattern trigger, work on either analog or digital channels).

Actually, there is a little spike on the sinewave....

It's pretty high end if you patch it
