Risen Valstrax is something else! The attacks look super sick, but do so much damage. Thanks for these tips, I think after a couple hunts ill have his moveset down.

Great vid as always Nox, me and my friend Yin have been using these tips to help others with the quest. We've also been using a combination of Bow to target the wings to knock Valstrax out the Risen state quicker and a wide range Hunting Horn set along with his Palico having shock tripper, healing horn, and the anti monster mine to stop some of Valstrax's moves
also if possible we try to have earplugs or defiance 3 to block roars from other monsters that might show up (almost had someone cart because Bagel showed up and stun someone with a roar right as Valstrax did it's spin move)
That's awesome! Having some Hunters actively go for the wings for a quicker risen-break can definitely be a game changer !
I know exactly what you mean! Getting roared at by random monster X is super annyoning in this fight xD Anjanath damn near got me killed twice so far!
very solid tips. it's worth the fights because imo dragon conversion is insanely good for weapons that don't use frostcraft much like charge blade.

I use 4 of those 5 skills you recommend for this fight with guts being the only one that I don't use.
As for additional tips, if you have a spare level 1 decoration slot, spiralbird caller (I think that's what it's called) is a good perk to have as it gives you a free buff every minute or two.
Also, if you're using an elemental weapon of any kind, remember to hit any of the ensnaring bugs against the walls to give them your weapon's respective element. Literally any element other than dragon works fine (though thunder might be slightly more desirable as it opens CG Val up to getting KO'd) as it's weak to all elements.
Save one marionette bug for when it's close to death/blue "capture" icon appears. CG Val seems to move quicker and hit harder in that final phase of it's life. I have been a part of a few failed quests with randoms because we're down to a final cart and it'll 1 hit cart a player. It'll power up in this state before going berserk. That's usually when I'll Marionette bug it to a wall and keep hitting it while staggered until it dies.
DO NOT do this; I usually do carve the tail while it's still in the area. (Yes, I'm being judged; I know.) I always have 2 trap bugs on hand when I do it though and will drop one or both on and/or around the tail before proceeding to carve. I've yet to cart while doing this but your mileage may vary.

The Spiribird Caller skill is such a good addition to this! Thanks for mentioning it here Paula! No clue how i missed one that is so obvious! 😄I usualy use it in combination with Chammy Blessing Lv (if i have the room for it) to get the double Spiribird effect from the free ones that come flying over every minute.
Using trap bugs if you go foa Tail carve mid fight is a good call 👍🏽
What got me was that this dude just rushed up to the Tail as soon as it was cut, with his own health being at like 40-50%. I was sitting there like "please..no..Gog have murceeh.." Hunter X Instantly got bodied 😂😂
Ah well..happens.

@@YokaiNox I'm legit laughing at the tale of the tail fail. I hear ya. I sadly impulse tail carve (at 3/4 - full health of course) as during my days in Tri, I'd be on the hunt for plates/gems from a particular monster and tail would get severed but someone would final cart without my carving the tail before said final cart. Oh the frustration was real. Since then I've learned to either flash bomb, place a trap, or in the case of Rise/Sunbreak use trap bugs if I have them before carving the tail of a monster or Barroth's head.
I am going to see if I can add Chameleos Blessing to the set alongside spiralbird. I also put cornerstone in my sets (every set I use has gold Rathian chest armor and I gem in lvl 3 or higher when necessary) just to avoid roar staggering if I'm unable to wirebug counter the roar.

@@DP3com Close! Switch, PC, and even on PS5/4 now. Yup, the time-sink is real
😅 Though i switched over to PC from the Switch quite a while ago, so the bulk of my MHRS time is spent there right now (Havent played the switch version in a while now) And the Playstation version is kinda sitting still at the moment aswell to not burn myself out.
Wich Platform(s) are you playing on ?
@@YokaiNox Gotcha. Definitely time sinks if you're multiplatforming. Lol. I only play on Switch as I don't own a PC or XB1/Series and I don't want to pay again on PS4 if I can't transfer my Switch progress over when Sunbreak releases on PS4/5 & XB1/XBS. That and the portability of the Switch is convenient when I want to get a hunt or two in or work on putting a mixed armor set together while traveling via public transportation.
Oh.. nice info. I'm still on MR 139, still a long way to fight Risen CGV. I hope i can handle him, with friend of course, and not be the first one to cart. Still can't upgrade my armor to max because money issue and the last time i play is Risen Kushala so let just say i'm lagging behind. At least my skill is still there, so i'm sure i can manage, hopefully. Hahaha
139 isnt that far away, you'll be there in no time! Perfect opportunity to get back into it 😄
If you're having money trouble you should try one of the event quests that drops the sellable items. You can get alot of cash realy quick while still leveling up that way 👍🏽

I know this is a few months late but I wanted to ask if you remember, what build do you use for the Velkhana hammer?
That was actually just a Layered Weapon. The weapon i used was the Goss Harag Hammer. You can find Builds for both Element & Raw Hammer on the Channel 😊

The only change it has now is the Risen Valstrax Legs once you've crafted them + 1x Intrepid Heart Deco. Everything else stays the same 👍🏽

How does one easily get Wyvern rides in the way to a target? Is there a specific method?
The fastest way is to use a high DPS or Multi-Hit Silkbind Attack (doesnt matter wich weapon). Depending on the map you'll also have easy access to Puppet Spiders or Stinkminks, wich get the job done pretty good aswell.
@@YokaiNox Appreciated. Well that explains why I see greatsword users get it so easily. Its weird. Recently gotten all the way to risen Valstrax and I have no idea how Skinkminks work lol.
@@SumThingFawful Stinkminks are pretty easy to use. When use one your hunter basically spray himself with a pheromone-deodorant 😄(You'll have like a glowing white Aura with small bubbles around you) All you have to do then is go up to any Monster and it will follow you anywhere! So you can easily bring it to the target monster to trigger a wyvernride, since they will attack eachother. (Carefull! The Stinkmink will make the monster you pull pretty aggro and it's gonna be on you! lol)

Managed to get a Rizen Val map with 4 faints, a Velk and occasionally Furious Rajang. Guess I will be building that dragon conversations build after all.

Yes, Poison is good on him 👍🏽 Doesnt matter if he's enraged or not.

Down side is I don't hit 1-3kon this thing lmao I hit 2k if philes do 243+but God damn people using dual blades suck so hard same db legit carted twice an left mission so what's the best dps for using damage for ko repeatedly ik hammers but I rather just ko it my self so people also let the thing do what ever. An die to it 3weeks now an hasn't died once fuck iv ran out of time befor we killed it...

Kinda suprising that the DB user got rekt by him so hard, since DB are actually one of the easiest weapons to use against Valstrax 😄But we all start somewhere..
