Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This UA-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

I’ve gotta say I love the break 75 series . It feels like a Netflix show to me . Really high production quality . Can tell a lot goes into it, when you watch other golf content you can see why Rick is on top and his team . Also Matt fryer is just a superb fella , helped my game so much 👍

I imagine some courses like my local course it is extremely unlikely. Back to back dog leg 4’s that you are not likely to drive the green. So it would require back to back holed approach shots.
Congratulations Rick, nicely done, but have to say back to back Eagles (with a lip out for an albatross) is pretty impressive, great to see Matt on form even if you took him on the score.

Matt has got to be my favourite guest on your show Rick. Such a level headed, pragmatic bloke. Easy going but straight talking! It’s a great combo!
I love the fact that even a pro struggles once in a while validating that golf is hard. Thanks for not just showing content of great rounds with no mistakes. I like the realism.
I don't understand how he has a plus handicap and I've only ever seen him break par like twice. And he's playing his home course under perfect conditions.

@@BEEFBRSKT, He’s a PGA pro. Not a tournament playing professional. Difference in there and if you’d pick an instructor a touring pro with no other education, but transversing orienteering to teachink, I’d tick a teachink PGA pro every time.
The players really know their own stuff - at least in the beginning of their teaching carreer after retired from competition golf, but that knowledge is not enough to serve eerybody seeking improvemt in their execution and how to play the game with what we have.

How many times any golfer plays their handicap in a month? And how many does it in front of camera crew?
How many shoots their handicap or below every tournament they attend? Not many, who play the handicapping game by the rule, trying their best on every one of their handicapping rounds. Golf doesn’t go your way most of the time, so the big thing is, how much your game and shot divert from your best performance.
If a basically +6, young Rory McIlroy shoots 74 in a major opening round, is he legit +6 or a professional golfer? You go figure that!
@@PetSKi67 how many? Zero, because that's not what the handicap system is designed for. If you beat your handicap every round then your handicap improves. My critique is that the handicap system is flawed and Rick isn't that great of a golfer
This is what we average golfers need to see, you’ve struggled for a few rounds and no doubt put in a lot of work and it’s paid off ten fold! Nice round shielsy and always great honest content!

I think Matt scoring an eagle back to back is more rare than a hole in 1. I read somewhere that it only happens 2-3 times a year on the PGA which is more rare than a hole in 1. It was also awesome that Rick had back to back birdies at the same time. Awesome video guys!!!!

Congratulations Rick. And Matt, just wow! I've never seen anyone get back to back eagles, no pros on the telly, no playing partners and I've never had even a single eagle in my life.
Jordan Spieth back to back eagles at Northern Trust 2021. 5th and 6th holes. But kudos to Matt for the super Hollywood Finish.

The only time I’ve seen it is when I did it once. I drove a reachable par 4 made a putt all the way across the green then chipped in on a par 5 for eagle the next hole. Proceeded to double the next hole and only shoot even par😂😂😂
I cannot tell you how much better it makes me feel about my Golf game seeing a golfer of your incredible ability miss hit a golf shot every now and again. Thank you for including those shots in your videos. I know you have a choice to cut the bad shots out and us regular golfers really appreciate it 👏

Great Job!! It all comes down to the putting when trying to play scratch golf. Rick hit or got close with a lot of long putts today. That wasn't happening as much in the other episodes. Great work!

I’ve got a tip for chipping, u should stack all of your wait left like 80% on your left foot, and feel like your head doesn’t move back. Helped me a lot, I had no chips outside of 10 feet

I figured out how Rick can get under 75 every single round, and I can quit my day job at the same time: He hits everything except the 55 yard, full lob wedge, and I hit those. Because that's literally the only shot I can hit, and I hit it gorgeously every single G-ddamned time. That sounds like a brag, but it's actually really freakin' aggravating. My four iron goes 140 yards, most of them off to one side, but my 55-yard full lob wedge lands on the green like you'd dropped it from a scaffold.

Honestly, I use to use 3 wood and I wasn’t very good with it, just purchased a 2 iron and I’ll tell you it’s a GAME CHANGER!! I recommend possibly trying it? Don’t know if you’ll even see this comment but just a thought!

Sometimes you just gotta get back to your home course to right the ship.
A while back I was struggling. Couldn't break 80 playing a bunch of courses similar to Rick this season in break 75. Finally went back to my home course and shot +1 73. Just like Rick shooting +1.
Get that confidence back and you're back on track.

Hi Rick, great seeing you enjoy the round. I'm returning to golf after many many years and your videos are a great source of info and entertainment! I'm looking to make some serious improvements to go from higher to mid handicap. Budget is tight - aside from pro lessons what would you suggest buying first - Garmin R10 for the range, rangefinder (with GPS), or new clubs (currently playing old Donnay Evolution II) ???
Rick, you’ve insulted the whole of Wigan. That isn’t a Wigan kebab. That’s a pastie on a barm. If anything, that’s a Bolton kebab. Wigan kebabs are famously a Pie on a barm. There’s a huge difference.
Two Eagles in a row is pure ridiculousness. One round I scored a difficult Birdie & Eagle in a row. Nobody believes me. I was playing alone & hit the Par 4 in two & made the 8-10ft putt & the Par 5 I also was on in two & made a 20ft putt. It's possible.
Lots of positivity this round Rick. You know that course & feel comfortable there.

Hey Rick, happy to see you playing well. I might be the only one, but please really think about the (very hard) parts in the titles. It always sounds like Donald Trump in my mind. "I played a tour venue golf course ... very hard ... the hardest course you wouldn't believe it." But anyways thanks for inspiring me to pick up the game in 2020.
Really enjoy the Marriot Worsley Park vlogs. Played there loads of times and it's nice to see how you play certain holes.

Going to be somewhat contraversial now. Anybody who plays with a handicap of 15 or over, keep your range finder in your bag, or better still, don't take it to the course. I include me in this. We ain't good enough yet. Use your garmin by all means. Loving the Break 75 vids. Keep them coming Rick.

Would absolutely love to hear you and/or Matt elaborate on the "swing thought" (discussed around 2:59). Is that something you think about prior to playing your shot or actually during the swing? Because as I'm setting up, I'll have thoughts like "toes out, butt low, turn your hips, extend on the follow-through" and then when I'm actually swinging, either I try to correct things during the swing, or my mind goes completely blank and it's just Jesus Take The Wheel. Either way, the results are bad more often than not.

I have to say when I served in Germany a van used to come to our camp every day at NAAFI break. My go to snack was a hot pasty in a bread roll. (Well actually it was 2 of them.😛) You just took me back to the mid 80's and other than other guys that bought food from that little van you're the first person I've heard of that puts a pasty/pie in a bread roll. I have very fond memories. Good for you Rick. 👍

Nice Rick, real nice. Couple of pointers - 1) head still 2)keep turning through the shot, you're stalling and having to flip atm (watch how matt turns through the ball). Apart from that great improvement!
Rick here is the 3 wood cheat code…either a ping 5 wood 17.5° lofted down to 16° or a callaway epic max from last last 15° with the weight forward it’s crazy easy to hit and super super shallow it’s it’s crazy. (Both super shallow that’s the key)
