Wow I can’t believe I got all the way through Andor before remembering his character was already in Rogue One! It’s been too long since I saw the movie. Great character and I love how fleshed out he and Mon Mothma are now
“I sense that you carry yours wherever you go.” After watching what Cassian went through on Narkina-5, that line hits hard. Chirrut could sense his trauma.
Damn the "You're not the only one who lost everything some of us just decided to do something about it" hits after Andor. He's already lost his parents and Bix, Luthen and Brasso likely die in Season 2. The only character we know lives past the OT is Mon Mothma.
It is Funny… when they announced Andor and even when I started seeing it I had no expectations… but WHAT A SHOW THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE!!! Specially on character development and story building… what an amazing series!!! They report that it has very few views… I guess we live on a time where “no story”, “senseless inclusion with no respect for the plot” and “immediate reward” have permeated everything… too sad… THIS IS THR ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE! THIS IS STAR WARS AT ITS BEST!
The reason it has few views is because of your first sentence. I too was not excited for it at all and wouldn't have watched it if it wasn't a Star Wars series. But completely agree, it was a really good series
Breaking bad didn’t have viewers till the 4th season.. I just watched it this past week, great show. But it’s not a surprise it doesn’t have viewers yet, Star Wars doesn’t have a leg to stand on. This is what they need to be doing. If the story can’t stand on its own without the force and lightsabers, it shouldn’t exist.
I think there is low views because most fans like light saber fights and mandalorians but honestly andor is a must watch show for Star Wars fans and so is rogue one…

"This is a first for me" is either a plot hole, a reference to being behind actual bars, or maybe he means it's the first time he's been locked up by the very people he's trying to help. I'm leaning towards it being a plot hole because you'd think he'd say something like "Yeah this is gonna be easy peasy because I escaped an underwater Alcatraz!".
Looks like they didn't watch the film before doing the series lol, but i guess they werent gonna not throw that part on the series just for that phrase. (This was a joke btw). The joke/lying thing you guys talk about sounds good, awesome series.
The man is a Captain in Rebellion Intelligence. Lying and obfuscating the truth is part of the job, which he seems to just do naturally. Quite a cheeky thing to say since his experience finding the ONE WAY OUT
"I've been in this fight since i was SIX YEARS OLD!" Is such a good line, so good that it lets your mind wander about what Cassian experienced. But there is more to that. That line meant something more than just telling us Cassian's backgroynd. As an audience, it led us to asking questions, wondering what he went through. In universe, it's him lashing out to Jyn after her comment on how he was no different to a stormie. It's something that insults him deeply, and for obvious reason. (Add the fact that he had just spared Galen.) *But there's more to that.* I believe it's also how the writers tell us that "these two are not so different." No way do i think we are meant to take his statement so literally. Cass acts like he have some moral highground due to his experiences. He went through a lot ever since he was so young.. *but so did Jyn.* Yes, he had lost his childhood possibly due to the republic ever since he was young. What he didn't consider when he said those words to Jyn, was that she too experiences the same thing. For her, it was just under the flag of the newly born empire. This brings meaning to when Cassian brought a crew to help Jyn's mission to Scarif. He realizes that the fight IS real for her afterall. They both had lost everything, and this is the chance for them (and everyone in Rogue One) to die for something real. Possibly burning their lives for a sunrise they might never be able to see. His history can be written after the film is done, in the context of the film, what happened when he was six year old does not really matter- what matters is that Cass and Jyn was not so different after all. Heck, this is especially true after his show came out, given that thematically they went through a similar arc. "Not a problem if you don't look up." - Jyn, in response to the imperial flags and ships above Jedha. "It's better to live. To eat, to sleep." - Cassian, denying Luthen's offer to fight for something real. After Andor, this line hits a lot more. I understand that it may feel like a strange retcon or even a missed opportunity, but i have to disagree. Andor added so much to this line, and to Rogue One overall
This is a fine headcanon, but if you honestly think the writers even put as much thought into it as the time it took to simply write this, you're wrong
Cassian locked in a prison cell was not the first for him, small pl;ot hole for Andor but still the best star wars ever created even better than the original trilogy
I think he probably just meant that he hasnt been actually barred up before, as the show he wasnt technically locked up. Just heavily incentivised not to touch the floor at certain hours of the day lol. So it was a first for him to break out of an actual cell and not open one like in the show
I will never get over how much I love Jyn and Cassian! Their chemistry throughout the whole movie is so good. I wish I could see more of them they make such a great team ❤️
Whether he was exactly 6 or slightly older during the events of the Andor flashbacks, his birth parents clearly were not around by then, as a result of either Republic/Imperial mining accidents or flat-out persecution. Then when Maarva rescued him, he had to change his name and learn a new language and leave his native culture behind, being the last survivor of Kenari. As Vel says, “everyone has a rebellion.” Cassian’s entire life, his very existence, is a rebellion. The events of Andor are what drive him to rebel directly against the Imperial regime itself and ultimately join the Alliance. But the show makes it clear that he has always been rebelling all his life as a direct result of the Empire’s rise. Even when it was still the Republic, it was ruining his life and taking things/people he loved from him.
This was exactly what I was thinking. Either this line was in reference to him being on his own since that age, or that he was fighting the rebellion which the latter doesn't make sense
Not necessarily a lie, I'd say he's being hyperbolic. One could argue he's had a dog in this fight since he was a child. Considering everything he and his tribe of orphaned children lost, the desolation of his home world, and other aspects of his early childhood that we glimpsed. Obviously he wasn't a rebel at six, but he's lived in this reality, this struggle since childhood. We also haven't seen all of his childhood so there could be more coming in the future.
