- The Pringles Speaker was interesting enough to make me buy some extra chips and mail in the receipts to get a free speaker. It took about 3.5 weeks, but it finally arrived and you get to watch as I open the package and see what they sent me.
Does the speaker use the cardboard tube as a resonating chamber to amplify the sound? How practical is this thing? Does it work with the iPod Touch? Watch this unboxing video to find out!

Well, it was a delight to have watched your video , Carl. I discovered your channel while scrolling through UA-cam shorts videos. Yes, I live in New York state. This speaker was offered in the US market in 2011. I know they had different colors last year, so I'm not surprised they are doing lights this time

Carl you've got to put a small hole in the can to let air in and out of the tube. The speaker displaces air and this will give you a better base sound.

Many years ago I found that dropping lit mini firecrackers
into one of these makes the noise VERY directional.
I quickly aimed it out my window through the screen
and it was very good at driving away pests.
I think they've been used for directional microphones
and because of the metallized lining, as directional antennae.

12 years later and i got this on my recomended page, thank you for showing me this cool peice of lost tech
My Daughter got this and gave it to me this past January ('12).
It does not have a volume control, only an "On/Off" switch.
It uses 3 of the expenseve AAA batteries that last for about 2 weeks.
I use Re-chargables, so it is no big deal.
I've tried it with the Regular Pringles Can and the smaller "Snack" sized can.
I experimented cutting a hole to "Port" the sound and a foam "Baffle" in the bottom of the can.
The Snack can with .5" Foam and 1" hole in the Middle side makes it sound pretty GOOD.
Wow. Amazing how 8 minutes of pure review feels like 3 minutes. Very well done (especially considering that this is from 12 years ago).
I did this 15 years ago as a kid. I had a little speaker that fit right on a pringles tube. Worked ok.
This is truly the best channel I have seen in my life

Hi!To improve the bass.The speaker should be applied upside down ,and the pringles can ,had to be cutted to less themn half size,and make a hole on the opposite side.Some foam or cotton inside it ,it would be nice too.

Well, the pringles can acts as a sealed enclosure, though a very very large one relative to the cone size. Maybe it's just used as a resonator in this case.

What a nice video, I sure hope he doesn't mispronounce can of pringles!
I broght mine in a charity shop in 2016/17 lol in red. It has a bass port on the bottom of the speaker so it's not sealed and that is how the sound improves slightly when you put it on top of a Pringles can or glass cup.
I'm liking this for future reference. The first ten seconds were hilarious!

The can needs a a 1-1/2 hole cut near the bottom of the can, it makes the sound bass boosted over no hole, like a guitar, it needs a hole to send the bass frequencies out.
