I was there too, and I think it was one of the most soulful shows I’ve ever seen. I saw Nick in LA both in 1984 and 1985, for his first two tours- this show was just as breathtaking. Seeing Flea with Nick reminds me how deep the talent in Los Angeles runs. Nick has the most engaging showmanship bar none.

Personally, I happen to adore both of these artists. So to have Flea randomly show up to play a song with Nick Cave was unexpected and incredible for me. But regardless of your personal feelings on the performance, I would suggest that you open yourself to collaborations that may push your favorite artist(s) in a direction perhaps not to your liking but expand the artistic boundaries and that is ultimately a great thing. Plus if you really do love Nick Cave, at least try to trust his judgment...
