During the time of the soviets the mujahideen had over 500-700k fighters. The Taliban had 85k and they managed to beat the US in every way. The US and it’s allies lost over 80K soldiers the taliban lost around 30k according to them and western estimates suggest 50k the Taliban also controlled 30-75% of the country throughout the war while Foreign troops hid in their bases. And to make it worse the US spent 2 trillion on the war that’s more then Vietnam and ww2 combined. And they still owe 6 trillion in debt. That’s the biggest loss in US history 😂 Imagine of the Taliban had 400k soldiers and where as armed as the US💀☠️
My uncle was a marine master gunnery sgt and served in the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. He was shot and wounded in Kandahar province and had to return home. He was an absolute hero.
Americans pulled out when they wanted, there was no pression. That war was clear business for them, it was a place where americans tested weapons and gained experience in combat.
