      Yeah, congrats!
      I need to get my act together, once the house renovation is done, and do more instrument stuff!
      Totally agree on the time one has (or has not, or spends differently) as a dad. Cheer up, the kids will join you in the shop! The little one (3 1/2 years) loves planing with my little Japanese plane. And drilling holes :)

    Congratulations on the new house and new shop! I'm a little late, just getting back into wood working and checking back on channels I use to watch.

    I wanted to let you know that your videos are wonderful. You should keep up the great work. Many times people look on youtube and see massive shops with thousands in tools. And you manage to take rex Kruger level of simplicity and add a distinct japanese flair. Keep it up! Those skills you've developed with such limited tools, space, and time show your dedication.

      Thanks! I have stepped away from making videos for a while but I might get back into it as time permits

    I just bought a new house too! I've gotten myself a little office I'm starting to bootstrap a little shop inside the office and I want to make a few pieces of furniture for my family.
    If I get to a finished piece (and god forbid even a video about it) I'll have to thank you, because you've been a huge inspiration and well of information.
    Glad to hear you're doing well

    Just a little advice I gleaned from another WW
    Use like rubber backed office carpet on the floor to cut back on the echo.
    It vacuums easy with a shop vac.

    Glad to see you back. Your new shop looks to be about twice the size of the balcony you had before. Great upgrade. Yup, being a dad is a full time job and probably the most important one you can have. Looking forward to seeing the makings of a guitar. Take care and have a great week ahead.

    For autofocus: According to the manual, if you hit the menu button, the third option down should say "AF during [camera symbol]" and you can enable it there. There is no continuous autofocus tho, you'll still have to do the half-press

    Nice place! Regarding your camera, as far as I’m aware the t2i doesn’t have the ability to do continuous autofocus while taking video. You can however depress the shutter button halfway to get the camera to focus on whatever you’re pointing it at. I have a t4i and it does have continuous autofocus, but it’s loud on video, slow, and inaccurate. I generally just do the half press anyway. Looking forward to some instrument videos!

      Thanks for the info! I think I'll get used to it. The video quality is much higher at least and that does make me feel better about my content. Thanks again for the support!

    Hey, got a rather interesting question that has nothing to do with this video, but is semi-related to a previous video you made. You've probably heard of Kumiko, and I've been researching how to make the strips. It seems like people just rip cut over and over again to make the strips, but what's stopping someone from buying thin stock and just using a Wari-Kebiki/Splitting Gauge? Seems like it would save literally hours of time, am I missing something and this is too good to be true? The only down side I see is that there isn't a very good cost to wood ratio.

    • @Lemongrasspicker
      @Lemongrasspicker  Рік тому

      I'll be honest I have not ever made kumiko but I don't see any reason at all you shouldn't do that with a splitting gauge. They do compress the wood a little bit so just make sure you're aware of that.
