The Barron family (Hannah and Jeff) are without a doubt some of the nicest people on my UA-cam channels. I look forward to watching them everytime they post. Honestly if Hannah and Jeff sat on Hannah's porch and just visited and filmed it I would be happy. Our country needs more like them.
Jeff I really like the creativity of re-purposing things. I have a neighbor that fenced his yard with the slabs left from sawing used telephone poles. He saws up the used poles into lumber and sells it as treated lumber. Great idea i think. Also a great way to get rid of things like used cross ties and used light poles besides burning them. Have you already jumped to 23,000 subscribers ? If so this looks like a real winner for you. Thanks for your time. And remember to talk to the camera. LOL
Another great idea for those slabs instead of rotting away. Nice hog trap. Used to make chicken coops out of them too with the same sliding door scheme to keep them locked in at night. Also used to make and sell yard and camp chairs or furniture out of them. Easy chairs fit to size was easy. Cut a rectangle horizontally at the thick end centered, and a male-like insert from another slab to make the seat part that just slips in the hole and can be easily taken apart too. The wider the bottom slab foot is less wobble for the old folks to deal with. Nice high back chairs to sit in. There's a ton of things they can be used for. Now ya just gotta get Hannah to find that slab and board stretcher for you. Chuckle. TY you for taking the time and effort to make these videos for us all out here. This old man really enjoys them all.
Excellent Jeff! Keep up the good work. I see you always strive to ensure nothing goes to waste. That's great. That's what happens when you grow up hard. I want to see the finished result when hogs are in that thing. Preciate you and Hannah!
Love your videos. I had a 91 toyota for 17 years. Fixed the rust real good once. It lasted 5 years after that. Had 241,000 miles..Wouldn't pass inspection with the rust and bottom end of motor was going out. Miss my truck so much.
Nice job Jeff. There's a lot off people don't know how to ues the waste. You can make so much out the waste. . When you live in middle of nowhere you ues what you got. Great video from Andy in UK 👍🔧🔨🚜
Man you have learned a lot of things I just haven’t seen where I’ve been in the country doing construction. Bravo! You are a great dad and raised a great daughter, tough.
Best of luck on catchin' them hogs. I found Hannah's site recently and started following her then, when she put your site up I subscribed to it. You know, as a country boy who moved to the City many years ago, I'd forgotten some of the many life experiences I had growing up as a kid, on the farm in the Ozark Mountains. You and Hannah have brought back many of these memories. Now, I'm an old man and physically can't do much of what you're doing today but I want to thank you both for working hard to bring folks a little taste of a life, for me anyway, that I truly miss. I wish I lived in a "little house" back in the woods on your property somewhere. You wouldn't have to worry about making those late night phone calls to set them hog traps. You and Hannah could sleep the night away. I would take the Night Shift for you. Stay Safe, Stay Well.
Yep, memories come rushing in with each video. Oh the good ol' days and old age is not what it's cracked up to be or feel like. Wish I was back out in the country and on the levee too. I really miss my boat on the river... like I could get in one now without having Hannah pitch me into one. LOL Have a great day out there.
good day Jeff, in this video u asked what to do with sawmill slabs?, got an Idea, use those slabs for siding on box blinds!!! Natural camouflage, maybe even hide your scent!!
I use sawmill slabs - I get for free - for fire wood in my 100 yr old wood fired cook stove . This was my mother's great great grandfather 's stove , as you said mix the ashes in the compost pile , garden gold.
Jeff, I'm in the same life situation as James Rose, who commented ahead of me. I'm also an old man and physically can't do much of what you're doing today. I did, but no more. I miss it so much. I love your channel. You are getting more confident in each new video. You are not afraid of work. We can all see you know what you're doing. Is a larger hog capable of breaking your slab boards at their thinnest part part? Keep up with more great videos, Jeff.
Hey boss man ......wanted to say thanks for the pine ash tip on the gardens .never been told that and been gardinging since I was a child .i would say your in the top 3 of most trusted advise giver on youtube and definitely a champion of a Dad .appriciate yah man .💯💪🇺🇸crazy to watch a fast worker in fast motion .🤠1
Another great video Jeff thank you for showing us how to build the hog trap . your doing a great job with all video we are learning a lot from watching you . we all thank you for everything that you do keep up the good work looking forward to your next video .
Jeff that pile of pine slabs looks like a gold mine of camping camp fire wood. Guess it'd all depend on if there was a willing campground around y'all and how much it'd cost you in time to cut and bundle to make it worth your time. My minds spinning ideas on how to build a machine that'll automatically cut a stack of slabs into 18" pieces and then bundle them into 10 or 12 piece bundles to roast dogs or make Smores over!!! :-)
Would be a lot stronger, but as a carpenter he was thinking like a carpenter and was thinking aesthetic instead of strength. Simple mistake but don't hold it against him, i dont.
I'd bet a cold beer or two that the last thing Jeff was thinking was to make an aesthetically pleasing hog trap. It has to be 100% functional, not look like a Hog Holiday Inn... haha I agree it'd be stronger if the side boards were fastened to the inside at the corners, the only problem is you'd have to double up the corner posts as you wouldn't be able to fasten two sides to the inside of a single corner post. Kinda hard to describe online.
Disregard that message I asked earlier lol You answered the pine sawmill slabs question I had. I've seen people build fences and hunting blinds out of them too
Great video again . Keep em coming. Good job you got somewhere safe to film during lockdown so we all got something good to watch. Big thumbs up from a fan of the channels over here in England. I can't wait until we are allowed to travel to our hunting and fishing permissions again.
Dam good looking trap Jeff .... I don’t see why it wouldn’t catch ... maybe put a salt block in it too .. Yeah it’s worth the money and their almost indestructible... You’ve done a good job ,, I like it ....Thanks for sharing
You building it to keep them in or Out? Just my experience but when Dad and I build a hog fence the Boards or Panels were on the inside of the post so the boards or panels were pushed against the post and not against the screws. Hogs are strong and would push the screws right out of the post or split the boards on the out side of the post. Also the bark on the inside of the pen would be less scary to the Hawgs. But BUDDY that WORKED. All that matters Jeff. Keep up the Awesome videos. Thanks for all your Info and content
That's very resourceful using slabs very cool video and trap would love to spend a day with you building hog traps and Learning your skills keep the videos coming thank you jeff
If I ever go to build a house I’m going to hire you to do it. Something from nothing. The trap looks like you could already live in it. I’m positive that you’ve already built so many things that just reviewing them would make GREAT videos. I’d love to see all the things that you’ve built.
Jeff, would a couple of lengths of regular hog wire cut in like 10 feet in lengths overlapped and wired together and placed under a bed of those pine needles and nailed back to the outside of the bottom rail suppress the ability of those wild hogs digging out on you?
Would some grease on the gate edges help prevent binding and water issues? Or would the hogs sense the odor of the grease and avoid it? The slabs on the outside with only screws holding it make it look weak compared to slabs on the inside. So maybe add some vertical slabs to the outside as well to sandwich the horizontal slabs using longer screws to spread out the pressure. Or maybe run some wire around the joints to reinforce the lower joints that will be hit the hardest. Catching hogs is real fun to watch. Keep it up the fight! And good eating.
We build ours out of oak 1x6 and treated 2x4s. Make em 6ft high and anywhere from 9x9 to 12x12. They will climb out we put boards down both sides of ours.
Jeff I think that should work as long as them dang hogs don't get to wound up after being pinned in . Good luck and when ya get some caught post it for us old guys ta look at.
Howdy, Jeff: It's me again, here every day, you finally told us what you do with all them scraps, so cool, but the pig trap is a good idea. Will they dig out? Keep the videos a coming, I check back in the morning with my coffee, and see what's next!!! Stay Well! God Bless you, buddy!!!
Takes some skill to think about that door. Lot of little things to think about. Will you need any bracing on the door so they don't knock it out of whack or get out? I'm thinking about what that big boar did to your wire trap and digging that hole. LOL!! 🤔👍
Isn't there a local demand for wood schredder? The wood chips are usually good for covering loose soil and keeping the moisture in the ground. They can also be used for gaining electric energy with a heat exchanger. If you like a bit of danger (CO), you can use them in wood gas stoves and use the produced tar. You can use them also as clapboard house, if you need an alternative (paint, metal) for weatherboarding a house.
Was watching the Toyota while loading thing didnt even budge you got her beefed up good. Thats a load on it. Slabs would be great for a permanent hunting camp or big blind..
We’ve shot well over 100 hogs since October of 2019. Been debating on getting a Hogg boss gate for the summer when they change their feeding schedule. They are terrible over here in Georgia too. What’s that feed again? Trying to see if I can get some here.
I build trigger pads that shut the gate. Im not spenndin 600 bucks on a cell gate. Old school trigger pad works great. I just make the trap longer. 10 or 12 ft. So when they trip the door they cant spin around and get out before the gate shuts.
Been burning my slabs, after turning my wife onto youre channel, it's safe to say she will find a use for them now ....my place is full of hogs, can't wait to see how that pig Skinner works out ..I'm going to be stealing that idea also ..thanks for all the good tips ..
Jeff with all those hogs, how do farmers get by? One of my best buddies lives in Texas and the hogs are so bad they live in a city and the hogs tear up everything at night.
How bout some Jeff Barron merch, maybe a t shirt that says preciate y'all on the back. I'd wear one !
I’d buy one
Hell yea
The Barron family (Hannah and Jeff) are without a doubt some of the nicest people on my UA-cam channels. I look forward to watching them everytime they post. Honestly if Hannah and Jeff sat on Hannah's porch and just visited and filmed it I would be happy. Our country needs more like them.
Holy moly this channel is taking off! You gotta love Jeff he is one of the few. I appreciate yall.
Country Boy craftsmanship at it's finest!!! Preciate y'all !!
Really appreciate your channel Jeff. Thanks for taking the extra time and effort to bring us into your life. Take care now.

Those slabs would be perfect to build permanent ground blinds with.
Boy you ain’t lying.
Excellent Jeff! Keep up the good work. I see you always strive to ensure nothing goes to waste. That's great. That's what happens when you grow up hard.
I want to see the finished result when hogs are in that thing.
Preciate you and Hannah!
You're the best thing going on UA-cam right now.
Keep putting your videos out when you can!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The way you talk is very enthusiastic and motivating!
Love your videos. I had a 91 toyota for 17 years. Fixed the rust real good once. It lasted 5 years after that. Had 241,000 miles..Wouldn't pass inspection with the rust and bottom end of motor was going out. Miss my truck so much.
very efficient used of material. upcycling of material. Doing that is a way of life if you cant afford new or was raised not to waste. Love it.
Great Job Jeff!!!! I love people that use smart simple ingenuity!!!!!!
Nice job Jeff. There's a lot off people don't know how to ues the waste. You can make so much out the waste. . When you live in middle of nowhere you ues what you got. Great video from Andy in UK 👍🔧🔨🚜
Once again you make magic. Keeping your daughter busy with editing. Keep them coming boss man. God bless. Take care.
Excellent job on the hog pen, really looks great, Thank you Jeff
Jeffs pumping out so many videos Hannah's gonna have to edit full time haha
Hahaha that's a good 1
Man you have learned a lot of things I just haven’t seen where I’ve been in the country doing construction. Bravo! You are a great dad and raised a great daughter, tough.

👍👍 Luv dat fiddle music, another great video, Jeff!! Keep'em coming, preciate y'all! 😀👏✝⚜💪☮🇺🇸
good day Jeff, in this video u asked what to do with sawmill slabs?, got an Idea, use those slabs for siding on box blinds!!! Natural camouflage, maybe even hide your scent!!
Jeff's got the whole package in his videos, entertaining, teaching and educating experience, and just down right fun to watch.
I use sawmill slabs - I get for free - for fire wood in my 100 yr old wood fired cook stove . This was my mother's great great grandfather 's stove , as you said mix the ashes in the compost pile , garden gold.

Enjoy your content Jeff. You and Hanah are great. 👍 Keep up the good work.
Another great video Jeff thank you for showing us how to build the hog trap . your doing a great job with all video we are learning a lot from watching you . we all thank you for everything that you do keep up the good work looking forward to your next video .
Looking forward to seeing some hawgs in there! Keep us updated! Waving from the southeast Texas Coast!
Firewood. Man Jeff I get tired just watching you work so much😊
That's what you call making use of what. Mahalo for your videos . Have a good day Jeff .
You’re the best bro, can’t learn common sense in college! This mans got more knowledge in his little finger than most people with college degrees 🙏🏼
I wouldn't trade my common sense for a college education any day of the week!!! If you AIN'T got it you can't be taught it.

would there be any advantage to put the side boards on the inside of the frame instead of on the outside?
Would be a lot stronger, but as a carpenter he was thinking like a carpenter and was thinking aesthetic instead of strength. Simple mistake but don't hold it against him, i dont.

More interested in making it look natural a 3rd board on the outside middle would help it a chicken wire wrap.
Disregard that message I asked earlier lol
You answered the pine sawmill slabs question I had.
I can see building deer blinds with those! Market those slabs as DYI deer blinds throw in a box of screws and say some assembly required. LOL
Yeah he's built a shooting hut out of those before.
Planning on moving to the great state of Alabama so I appreciate all the tips I can get
MORIN JEFF.....KEEP DOIN WHAT YOU DO!
Dam good looking trap Jeff .... I don’t see why it wouldn’t catch ... maybe put a salt block in it too .. Yeah it’s worth the money and their almost indestructible... You’ve done a good job ,, I like it ....Thanks for sharing
Looks like you've put off burning those slabs for awhile. Thanks for the videos Jeff.
Really cool! Can't wait to see what ya catch! Also the use of the scrap to make potash fertalizer if you don't use it elsewhere is awesome too!
Great video. Jeff your ingenuity amazes me.
Good morning. Opening day of our turkey hunt today in Ontario Canada. Love your vids,

Nice trap Jeff, great to follow along. Thanks for sharing
Glad to see you using those awesome Stihl saws. That is all we use. Loved the video, Jeff!
Wish I was your nieghbor! Most my property is fenced with slabs. Keep up they great videos ! Appreciate Y’all
That's very resourceful using slabs very cool video and trap would love to spend a day with you building hog traps and Learning your skills keep the videos coming thank you jeff

Keep on Big Hoss! Carpenter from 65 County is with ya!
Well that should get a few of them little piglets! Nice work, job well done!
Great video Jeff dang that's a good looking hog trap you done a great job. .
That right there is some ingenuity. Well done👍🏻💪🏻
Good idea I really wanted you to find a use for those off cuts . Nice one :)
Much respect from South Louisiana

that's it jeff show them how us LA folks get it done. build with what ya got and make it happen!!
Another great video mate . Awesome work mate. G'day from Perth western Australia
Thats a great trap idea, can't wait to see this work.
Shouldn't you of used some of that lumber to add a floor, so they can't dig down?
you loaded that fast motion that truck started squatting ,or its a straw that broke the camels back, could it any bigger
After you trap the hog, how close can you get to them? Just wondering if they go wild if you are right there next to them?
Learning new things with every video Jeff, thanks brother!
Market those slabs as compost bids? On the buy sell an trade sites on Facebook? It’s tool money? Screws are extra lol
Can't wait to see that trap in action! Awesome!
Just curious on how I could go hunting with you guys... I also live in Alabama...
Great job Jeff followed u from your daughter now I know where she got IT! FROM 😉🤠 APPRECIATE YALL. 😎🤠
Dang it Jeff, I was chair dancing to the fast motion music, then you interrupted my Boogie😂😁
I have a stack of slabs just like that. Thanks for the inspiration, I'll go ahead and build a trap.
That's a real badass trap Jeff
daddy jeff can you use that scrap wood to make charcoal or is pine wood poisonous ?
Do y’all ever use wax on the slides of the gate to make it slide slicker? It might add another $.25 or so but it would be worth it.
Jeff it would be OK to do a have a beer with Jeff on porch video or live stream. We won't tell anyone you took a break.
You could use or sell them as firewood. They need cut to length and split once or twice and they're perfect
What was the name of the remote gate trigger you were going to use? I could not make it out due to the wind noise. Thanks
Great job Jeff
Howdy, Jeff: It's me again, here every day, you finally told us what you do with all them scraps, so cool, but the pig trap is a good idea. Will they dig out? Keep the videos a coming, I check back in the morning with my coffee, and see what's next!!! Stay Well! God Bless you, buddy!!!
Good morning ☕️ please excuse my ignorance but I thought hog traps were traditionally round... 👋 city boy so I don’t know
Takes some skill to think about that door. Lot of little things to think about. Will you need any bracing on the door so they don't knock it out of whack or get out? I'm thinking about what that big boar did to your wire trap and digging that hole. LOL!! 🤔👍
You should put a link to the Cellular Box so others can easily get one too. Guess we could do a search and find one, but a link would be easier.
Around here they use those slabs to make fences looks nice
Wish I had a dad like him.
This channel is super interesting.
Isn't there a local demand for wood schredder? The wood chips are usually good for covering loose soil and keeping the moisture in the ground. They can also be used for gaining electric energy with a heat exchanger.

Will the wood siding make it harder to dispatch the hogs once they’re trapped? Just curious.
We’ve shot well over 100 hogs since October of 2019. Been debating on getting a Hogg boss gate for the summer when they change their feeding schedule. They are terrible over here in Georgia too. What’s that feed again? Trying to see if I can get some here.
Fine job 👍stay safe
Very cool Jeff. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jeff for another great video !! PS I’d use that as deer blind 😉! Preciate Y’all!!
32 K already!!!!! BAMM!!! Go Jeff.
Jeff, any sasquatch sightings in your area?
I build trigger pads that shut the gate. Im not spenndin 600 bucks on a cell gate. Old school trigger pad works great. I just make the trap longer. 10 or 12 ft. So when they trip the door they cant spin around and get out before the gate shuts.

Just wondering Jeff did u ever serve in the military? You look familiar to me,I am retired military.
Jeff with all those hogs, how do farmers get by? One of my best buddies lives in Texas and the hogs are so bad they live in a city and the hogs tear up everything at night.
I don't know if you guys are getting my comments but you're durt roads are lot better than the ones in monroe county where I live
