Watching Gavv showed me the main thing that made Gotchard fail: Watching Gotchard is like watching Neo Saban Power Rangers, namely Megaforce, where our heroes just spew empty platitudes about friendship, have virtually no real story arc or growth because they have a status quo to maintain, and our heroes are constantly handed out new powers and solutions to their problems without feeling like they've earned it. Gavv? Gavv starts us with a hero that is a fish out of water, he's vulnerable, he needed someone else's kindness to survive and he then got to return that kindness by protecting him from the monster, and we actually saw him struggle and despair for not being able to do more until finally, previously established lil alien snacks show up to give him a hand, it was GREAT.
Shoma accepting him as a monster but still wants to protect that kid because he doesn't want people to lose bond with their parent immediately makes Shoma fleshed out character. He's vulnerable, he still needs to learn with the human world, he's still want to understand about himself and the beauty of human world and foods/snacks.
Gotchard it’s not that damn bad don’t you dare disrespect Gotchard like that megaforce was the worst thing that has ever came out of Power Rangers Gotchard isn’t that so don’t start
Idk I personally appreciate and enjoy every Kamen Rider show since I grew up with it, but from my perspective Kamen Rider and just Toku in general is the best when you have friends alongside you to experience the journey with, when I rewatched basically every Kamen Rider show with my friend who was new to Kamen Rider and my other friend who already knew about Kamen Rider, I found myself enjoying it a little bit more rewatching it with them than when I was a kid and even now when I watch the shows alone. Since everyone is talking about Gotchard here, I can’t really speak for Gotchard’s case since it’s my favorite reiwa, but the episodes I did watch with my friends made it even more of a fun experience. I also watched Gavv’s first episode with those same friends and it was awesome I seriously can’t wait to see the rest of the show.
I gotta say, this newest premiere has me pumped up and eager to see what’s to come. Despite its colorful and lighthearted motifs, there’s some SERIOUS darker elements right off the bat, mostly coming from how the Granutes like munching on happy humans. I already like Shoma a lot. He’s probably the most unique Primary Rider we’ve ever had. It’s neat that his Granute side gives him abilities even outside of his Rider Forms. And similar to many of the Primary Riders before him, he’s a good-natured goof, but I like that the season’s already established that he has a more serious and somber side relating to how the main Granute group took his mother away from him. I wonder what his as-of-now-unknown father’s thoughts on that whole matter are. And even though it hasn’t been explicitly stated yet, I think it’s pretty clear that Shoma’s a half-human, half-Granute hybrid. Reminds me of Jeramie from King-Ohger. I’m pretty sure that’s why Shoma’s Gavv is more mechanical while full-blooded Granutes’ Gavvs are more… organic. Judging by the bit of information we get here, hybrids seem to be a bit of a “rarity.” Despite seeing little of him in this episode, I have a good feeling about Hanto too. He seems to be a bit “different” in attitude compared to many other past Secondary Riders. And what’s especially intriguing already is that, based on his drawing, he seems to be searching for a specific Granute. And I know I’m “looking ahead” here, but I think it’d be really awesome if down the line, a villainous half-human, half-Granute hybrid is introduced as an Evil Counterpart to Shoma. Someone who’s older, smarter, has significantly more experience with his hybrid powers, has a backstory that parallels Shoma’s but is more different and “tragic,” etc. Someone who has significantly different views on the conflict and humans and Granutes in general, perhaps due to suffering mistreatment from both. And it’d be neat if this hypothetical villainous hybrid found Shoma to be a “kindred spirit” and sincerely wanted Shoma to join up with him…. On a possibly related note, that Granute in the drawing Hanto’s carrying around has a mechanical Gavv like Shoma’s.
I said the same in my livestream about the suit and the belt: I don't like it, but maybe someday I'll just get used to it once I like the show. That said, you're precious Marcos. Be cheesy about people you love ❤
The funniest thing Toei can do is to name Gavv's super form "Glucose Form", his evil or dark form (if he gets it) "Decay Form", and his final form "Stomach Acid Form", or better yet.... nah, I don't want to spoil anything, if you get it you'll get it.
I'm watching Gavv with my five year old and it's the fucking best; he knows nothing about the series but he already has strong opinions about there needing to be a Chocolate Rider
nah, you aint getting old. gotchard kinda flopped and it had bad execution, but i think the problem is the lack of substance. idk what's with reiwa but i feel like all the series so far have been a bit lacking on the emotional and message departament.
There's a couple reasons, Kamen Rider is currently in a different time slot Than it was a few years ago. Japanese TV does not have ratings in the way that most Western TV does. They have simply different time slots, earlier in the day means the more kid-friendly you have to be. New episodes air much earlier than they did even just four or five years ago. Also, because of this newer earlier time slot they've started marketing to a slightly younger age, especially with the toy sales that they've been getting lately. Even with an early time slot the show can still have good writing and emotional moments. It can just happen less often because it's not so much of a priority anymore, alongside the fact that they're not able to do certain things that they would have been able to do a couple years ago. They're also kind of pivoting from some of the older style action just because in Japan filming a TV show is like absurdly difficult logistically. Especially for something like Kamen Rider with a lot of action scenes out in public, with current Japanese road laws the amount of hassle it would take to try and get bike stunts to actually not only happen but look good would be ridiculous. It's just not worth the money, Imo I'm not a huge feiwa guy so far outside of geats
I Love Gavv Already But It's Just The First Episode And Yes Gotchard I Hate Gotchard I Quit Watching After The Two-part Zyukyunpire Episode. Geats, Zero-one And Gavv Are My Favorite Riders From The Reiwa Era So Far.
As someone who watched gotchard with friends, no im pretty sure friends didnt make gotchard any better for me. I dont like being a downer over a rider season, but I'd argue even Ghost had more substance to it. No one really has any good character flaws or motivations imo, despite the fact that the whole concept of the show is finding your "gotcha". Its the most kid focused plot ive seen in a rider in a while, which really lines up with the "am i getting old" statement you had.
I kept thinking about Gaim while watching the episode. The silly themes being played up to try and overshadow the more dark and kinda morbid reality was a lot less subtle and more apparent in the episode. (Pretty sure MC's mom is dead cuz...she got turned into jerky. I know it's supposed to be "dark treats" so it's supposed to be candy, but the prop looks like jerky to me, lol. Have fun with that thought though.)
In my opinion Kamen Rider Gotchard was a really great season to me. I liked it more than ghost. I could tell you that I didn’t really have a problem with majority of the stuff with it. Sure the writing wasn’t all that good but I still really liked it. It’s one of my top favorite Kamen Rider series surprisingly hoping Gavv does great
It's defenetly an issue with Gotchard because so far I hadn't had much issues with Reiwa IMO I loved Zero One and ESPECIALLY Geats (among my top Rider seasons for me) Saber was ok in my opinion and Revice I liked at first but soured on me by the end But Gotchard....I dunno, just felt like a rollercoaster of "looks it's getting good....and it's kinda bad again" and it's ending its just....the biggest nothingburger ending for me since Ghost
We got what we were promised. The armor falling off the suit. The belt isn't actually a driver. Shoma is an alien. And now I need to make a new questions board. But I think I will probably get irritated with Shoma being discriminated against because he's an alien and yes it is most likely going to happen again like he was a mutant from X-Men.
I think Gotchard killed a lot of people’s enthusiasm, my own included. It wasn’t bad, but it was very middling, and even boring at times, and that’s just not a nice feeling to have with a franchise you like. Gavv’s first episodes was just a lot more appealing than Gotchard’s, and it feels good to be looking forward to the next episode of a rider show again.
I just finished watching episode 8, and so far I think this show has been fantastic. Some of the best character writing I have seen in a season so far.
I caugh up yesterday with Gavv and honestly? Is the kamen rider season that's captured me the most of this past decade. Is just... It's such a gentle show. Yeah, its got it's slivers of darkness like with any kamen roder show does (fucking man eating drug dealers man), but it's overall message its so bright and cute. Shouma as a protagonist awakens a primal instinct in me of protection, he's the kind of innocent manchild that's a delight to look at, and I ADORE him, he's a sweetheart. I love all the characters on screen even the legion of goth bitches that are the villians, I love both riders and how they evoque a lot of Ichigo and Niigo in their "we share the same burden" vibe. I love the dynamic of everyone on screen, the transformations are so unique and inventive, i kove the set the desing and how the action went back to the good ol' bare knuckle wrestling with a side of explosions, honestly, I've enjoyed watching the first 12 chapters so far. I dunno, despite watching a BUNCH of kamen rider from across the last 30 years no series has actually captured me at the point that I'm actually roaring to see the next episode next week, this would be the first series i get to actually follow week by week and I'm excited to see where all this is going now that Gavv and Valen know each others identities.
Definitely gonna see where it goes. Only complaint is how... lacking the belt theme is. I mean after Revice and Gotchard, was kind of hoping for some kind of pop style that fit with the treats he eats.
Had a similar experience with Ninninger actually. It feels like a universally hated show but I enjoyed it so much because I watched it with my little sister and seeing her enjoy it made the show so much more fun :')
Man, I really wanted him to stay with the kid from the first episode. It would’ve had that classic E.T. or Stranger Things vibe, especially since he's also an alien. He could’ve stayed in that tent, waiting every day for the kid to bring him food. Maybe there could even be a storyline where he takes on small jobs, befriends the villagers, and lives a simple life near a classic dagashi shop. The kid could teach him about the world from an innocent perspective, motivating him to protect it as Kamen Rider. He could become the brother the kid never had, spending time together and forming a real bond. Honestly, personality-wise, this kid could be the best child character in Kamen Rider history. He’s not annoying, he’s smart, knows when to talk and when to keep quiet. It's the perfect role model for kids to look up to and relate to. It’s great marketing too-what kid wouldn’t want to be friends with Kamen Rider in Japan? But I guess instead, he’s going to end up living in a colorful house with a bunch of idol-like girls. Why not, right?
For me Zero and Geats were only Reiwa Kamen Rider I enjoy personally . Saber and Revice were just Ok i guess. But Gotchard was just Disappointing, i had hopes it could be good but it was not. I hope Gavv could be entertaining for me.
The scene between the shipping crates was insane. Combined with the different angles it was one of the best episode 1 fights. Also the fact that the suit gets constantly damaged and he has to repair the suit mid fight is great. The suit still sucks
Right now, am telling you Marcos, watch Gavv like how you watched Gotchard. Hopefully, that they get to stick the landing. Gavv is basically, Raito or Phillip of W as the only MC.
I thought gavv was weird but then after the fifth episode, I was like OK hold on. This is epic now I watch the other four that I was able to watch and the second rider is epic the suits great I like this suit better than the main characters but I think it’s a little weird. I’m still getting used to it, but I’m loving it,
Maybe you reach the age of Boomer mentality unlock. You reach a point of craving nostalgia or prefer older contents that you grew up comfortably watching. Only something surprising like a kingohger can get your adrenaline hype up. Anything new that tried to mimic the past wouldn’t be enjoyable like gotchard.
idk Gotchard feels like you're not watching a Kamen Rider series honestly, it was so bad i thought i was watching a knock-off Kamen Rider on youtube or on other media source
Same with Gavv, i wanted to like gotchard but i didnt...gavv was fun. Story and characters are nothing new but the fighting was amazing and i had fun watching it. It was extremely fun
@@Marcosatsu I hope ur doing alright watching your history of and your videos in general really make me happy so I'm always excited when a new video comes out!
You ain't getting old, Marcos. Gotchard was just godawful and Gavv is the palette cleanser. Edit: Which, now that I think about it, makes sense it's based on candy and junk food, something I'd rather eat than eating bad food lol
Besides Zero One (excluding post movie content) Reiwas has been mostly a letdown for me, especially after really digging into early Heisei recently. I hope Gavv can succeed where Geats and Revice failed me.
I don't think friends would make much a difference with Gotchard 😂 I Binge it the other days after it finished and It had good moments, but overall was still kinda Boring and stale. Hopper1, the Sensei and the Tertiary Rider were the best part. I found my self Skipping around a lot. And that out if nowhere Special with Legend, definition of Filler, it had a few important Plot holes too. I was excited with the idea about the first Female Secondary Rider, but she wasn't that interesting. Sakura stays my favourite Female Rider. Also, I told this to a friend after finishing it, even Takeru from Ghost was more endearing of an MC that Hotaro... So yeah, Idk if I would call it Worst KR show. But definitly the Worst of Reiwa. Gavv was genuinly Fun and Intriguing from the get go and Shouma seems great too. He is not just another "Idiotic Kindhearted" like many others, he may be Naive at the moment, but he can get properley serious and undertood his situation adapting himself so quick that I'm amazed. I can't remember any other MC like him. Maybe Emu or Kouta? Or Maybe a bit of Philip if there were no Shotaro?
GOOD DAY ...CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A CONTENT EPISODE ABOUT YOUR TOP 10 OR TOP FAVORITE KAMEN RIDER DEBUT EPISODES ( EPISODE 1) EACH GENERATIONS FROM SHOWA, HESEI, NEO HESEI PHASE 2 AND REIWA........THANK U.....PLZ
only really disagree about Gavvs suit (literally what is the issue people have) cause its peak, otherwise i agree with practically everything, i liked gotchard but it also killed my kamen rider hype and enthusiasm, and made me realize Reiwa as a whole has been kinda dog water when compared to both Heisei part 1 and ESPECIALLY Part 2, Geats is the only one to be coherently well done even despite its flaws, its at worst a 8/10 and only one of Reiwa i strongly care for, but Gavv off the bat was something fresh, new, and actually returning to old all at the same time and its breathtaking, i only hope it stays that way to the finale
I haven't been able to watch a few seasons just because I get so irritated by the overly loud henshin/finishers. I gave up on Saber after the first ten episodes and I'm just only trying to watch Gotchard, And boy am I trying.. hahaha.
I feel like having friends to watch Gotchard and the overall alchemy theme helped me with loving it, as I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much alone

Only something surprising like a kingohger can get your adrenaline hype up. Anything new that tried to mimic the past wouldn’t be enjoyable like gotchard.
Someone noticed and said you paint your nail middle of the video, so is it a hint for another project?
I just like the color green
idk Gotchard feels like you're not watching a Kamen Rider series honestly, it was so bad i thought i was watching a knock-off Kamen Rider on youtube or on other media source
Same with Gavv, i wanted to like gotchard but i didnt...gavv was fun. Story and characters are nothing new but the fighting was amazing and i had fun watching it. It was extremely fun
man, who knew toku was right about friendship, after all...
OMG HI MARCOSATSU!!
Hey
@@Marcosatsu I hope ur doing alright watching your history of and your videos in general really make me happy so I'm always excited when a new video comes out!
You ain't getting old, Marcos. Gotchard was just godawful and Gavv is the palette cleanser.
Edit: Which, now that I think about it, makes sense it's based on candy and junk food, something I'd rather eat than eating bad food lol
Gavvurincho
Some series just click better than others.
I wanna be this guys friend lol
geat was preety DANG good
Besides Zero One (excluding post movie content) Reiwas has been mostly a letdown for me, especially after really digging into early Heisei recently. I hope Gavv can succeed where Geats and Revice failed me.
I don't think friends would make much a difference with Gotchard 😂
I Binge it the other days after it finished and It had good moments, but overall was still kinda Boring and stale.
I'm a 35 year old sheet metal manufacturer and I know the feeling about not having friends to watch and discuss this show with.
Pls do history of komem rider zi-o
History of kamen rider geats pls
His hate for kiva fuels me
Gavv is spelled like "gah-bu" or "gab" nov "gav"
The English spelling/ romanization is on Toei’s official site and copyright documentation.
It's definitely a better start than Gotchard.
Granute is evil oni. Gavv and Valen was good makamou.
Watching gotchard is suicide
I haven't been able to watch a few seasons just because I get so irritated by the overly loud henshin/finishers. I gave up on Saber after the first ten episodes and I'm just only trying to watch Gotchard, And boy am I trying.. hahaha.
Gavv is a treat gochard was a trash
I tried gotchard , got bored after 3 episodes , tuned in for the final and yeah the final sucked , but gaav ….. was okay so fr ……
M
It's ok, Gotcard broke all of us
P
Gotchard just that awful
2024 of Tokusatsu bad yet lazy designs
I feel like having friends to watch Gotchard and the overall alchemy theme helped me with loving it, as I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much alone
Gavv
I thought i was gonna hate Gavv, easily one of best the first kamen rider episode in a long time. Candy minions crying and dying were funny, im hooked
