Yamaha R3 bLU cRU Cup De | NL 2022 Finale at Hockenheimring (DE)

The title decision in the R3 bLU cRU Cup was not to be made until the grand IDM finale at the Hockenheimring. With the two Germans Cedric Holme Nielsen and Mitja Borgelt and the Dutch duo Thijs Westenbrink and Alec Willemen, four drivers still had a chance of winning the championship. The first race on Saturday held plenty of drama in store. After Westenbrink sank his R3 in the gravel on the third lap, Willemen also bowed out of the title fight with a crash two laps from the end. Borgelt grabbed second place, while Nielsen finished fifth. So everything was set for the showdown on Sunday. In front of the packed grandstands at the Hockenheimring, the final race of the season turned into a real thriller! After it had rained in the morning, the treacherous track conditions were Nielsen's undoing on the first lap. The Berliner crashed, putting the title decision in the hands of the youngest driver, who had to finish at least fourth to snatch the Cup crown. But Borgelt crossed the finish line in sixth place.
So it is clear, Cedric Holme Nielsen is the champion of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU Cup 2022!
