    I’ve been using an Omada setup for a couple of years now. 2 indoor and two outdoor Ap’s (225) and couldn’t be happier. Not enough in this for my use case to change but would absolutely recommend someone starting out to go for this. The biggest compliment I can pay it is that it’s invisible to both me and house visitors. It’s completely seamless as they move from inside to outside and around the garden. Best tech money I’ve spent in a long time.

    I have 2 outside Omada APs, one in the garage and one in the back yard. My house is brick and block and an indoor WIFI AP doesn't make it thru the walls. My garage is constructed of stucco over a metal lathe. A perfect Faraday cage. 😁

    Hey there,
    Thanks for the detailed review of the TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor access point. It's great to see how well it performs in real-world scenarios. The range and signal strength seem quite impressive, especially considering the obstacles like trees and fences.
    I have a few questions if you don't mind:
    1. How has the access point held up in different weather conditions? Have you tested it in extreme heat or cold?
    2. Did you notice any significant differences in performance between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels in outdoor settings?
    3. Have you had a chance to test it in a rainy environment to see how well it lives up to its IP67 weatherproof rating?
    Overall, it looks like a solid outdoor access point, and your video review was very informative. Thanks for sharing your experience with it.

    I like underdogs, and at this point I am all in on the Omada system thanks to your videos. The only thing TP Link needs to do is copy Uniifi, keep up the great quality, and keep the prices as low as possible. Just bought the TL-SG3210XHP-M2 hopefully you can do a video on that

    Looks scary out there (from another home lab, home office introvert). This would allow a neighborhood dweller to pretty well completely tie up and dominate at least one or two of the 11 2.4GHz channels in the spectrum, in the entire neighborhood.

    A missing element I am trying to understand is - how do you run the RJ45 wire to outside the house ? Can we do that without a wire or does it connect through the power line ? How do we then use the power line as a bridge to the router ? Thanks for your time in advance.

    • @AaronHolcomb
      @AaronHolcomb Рік тому +1

      There are several ways to set up these devices as part of a mesh or older wireless bridge setup, but you still need power to the device and either a dedicated ground connection or a shielded Ethernet cable that is capable of grounding the device. The included PoE injector that comes with the device can either be used as the power source for the device that travels over a connected Ethernet cable between the two devices with no physical data connection or there is a data input port on the injector that can be connected physically to data output from a router, switch or directly to your Internet port on your modem from your ISP. The device can function as an access point with no DHCP function, leaving that task to be handled by your router or switch, or it can handle both functions if plugged directly into your modem. These have a ton of flexibility on how they can be setup to function within your network among other devices, but power delivery is handled over the Ethernet cable, even if it gets its data wirelessly. Everything you need is in the box except for the Ethernet cable.

    The spec says it can do up 200m, but I can't find any demos on Yourtube that actually measure the distances! I hear things like "wow! it works way down here!". That's good! As long as I am "Way down there" I should be good to go . . . . . I actually want to communicate with wifi cameras that I plan to install betweem 100 and 200m from the access point. Will they work or not? I still don't know . . . . 🙂

  • @bigbronx
    @bigbronx 9 місяців тому

    What? Why does the 2.4GHz network have worse range than the 5GHz one?
    One reason to put one of these in the garden is if you have IoT things around (ESPs and stuff like that). But those can only do 2.4GHz, which makes sense since they don't need much bandwidth, they need range.
    They must have cheaped out on the 2.4GHz antennas or something...

    as far as I know, access point has their antenna radiation pattern. you should allign the radiation pattern accordingly to your needs.
    I have tested back then using 11g wireless for around 500 meters, and stiil got around 54Mbps using directional antenna 100mA access point. on which are quite high speed on 11g bandwidth.
    later I used mikrotik ac for range 2 kilometers, and still get around 300Mbps.
    that due to the aligning the antenna radiation pattern, and even on the AC. we do a double access point to separate the RX and TX traffic and double the bandwidth.
    but great job on the access point. just don't put the radiation pattern to your house. It may cause some headache. lol happens to me before.

    Omada looks nice, but overall I don't like it at all. At first sight it is a good product but when you use it a while you can find all it's bugs/issues and so on.
    Lot's of issues, problems, missing Firmware Updates... Looks, like they do have a too small R&D Team. VLAN issues with Failing TCP Connections, mDNS Support is lacking, Routers do have issues. Just look at their business community forums and read the comments within Omada EAP and Omada Cloud SDN.
