I’ve been playing keys for over a decade learning from different teachers and online pianist. And honestly this is the happiest a song on the piano has ever made me. The attention to detail and emphasis on his playing brings the whole piece together. I honestly think my ears have ever been this soothed in their existence THANK YOU

I love playing jazz. This dude's chord inversions and accuracy is amazing! I ended up leaving this playing this while trying to work, with my baby asleep next door.... I ended up actually yelling out "oh damm, nice!" near the end. I couldn't turn it off, and now have heard it three times over. Very nice playing!

LOVE IT! Such a SOULFUL groove - right "in the pocket" and so relaxed. Yohan Kim has the chops to be flashy & show off his technique, but is a master of good taste, choosing to allow the rhythm to rule! He is the only keyboardist I've seen using the palm of his hand for glissandos.
@@emmanuelansah4035 A glissando is a quick slide up or down an instrument. Pianists usually use their thumb or fingernails on the top of their hands to great the effect. Yohan does several in this video, starting 1:31, using the underside of his hand.
The palm technique is very popular with many gospel keyboardists and organ players. He's able to take techniques from gospel, jazz and classical and make it work. That's why he's so great!
I think that he may use that method because it's a smidgen faster than reaching wth his fingers... his palm is already in place... just my unprofessional opinion...

Wow, I was starting to listen to Yohan about 2 years ago, I was impressed about his interpretation of the Piano Man and Just the 2 of us- out of all piano videos of" the Piano Man" I think Yohans expression is outstanding as he starts quite softly but then gets into a jazzy mood where he brings the melody and harmonies to a crescendo of his genius which is incredible. I bought the sheet music and (after 2 years of exercise) I am still trying to get a bit of his intepretation into my playing but I still have to keep on going for years to get at least to a point where I can perform his interpretaiton on stage. Nevertheless it is a lot of fun playing along with him. Now I am listening to O Happy Day and am still impressed about the clearness, jazzy interpretation and incredible technique - the variations of improvisation, chromatic variations with the left hand base line and the drum backgound is fantastic- wish you will release the sheet music for this masterpiece some time. Hope you will publish more videos like this!!!
