I saw an interview that said Frank Sinatra said that if Tom Jones kept singing like that his voice wouldn’t last but a couple of years. Still belting out 40+ years later.
Speaking of the operatic aspect, that big note near the end is a Bb which is just one step from High C which is an operatic tenor’s top note. Tom went to see a voice teacher-one time-and she said she could make him an operatic tenor, but Tom said he wanted to sing pop.
Thank you so much for reacting to Tom! He is truly special and that voice..oh my. Just for fun, check out his song “Sex Bomb”. With the video. He’s still got it!
Patrick Tom and Shirley both from Wales UK…….but you really bring a tear to my eye when I see how a younger man really appreciates music from yesteryear’s
Tom was such a Fantastic singer...He was a very big hit in his day..Still to this day Tom is out there doing his thing..The pipes on this guy are Amazing..He 83 n still at it...Got to love another icon.. Thanks for your reaction..
He still sells out huge( thousands of people) stadiums. As a person, I think very little of how he has lived his life. That said- he is amazing! Unreal! He knocks every song out of the park. Power, strength, vocals- out of this world. Just phenomenal!!
Two different versions from two fellow Welsh people who happen too be great friends as well. Sir Tom as with Dame Shirley will make you think they've been through some of the feelings and situations within a song, although after 1982 Dame Shirley wasn't sure she'll even sing again, too this day she has never found out if her daughter was murdered or accidental death in Wales, so some songs will spark certain feelings, likewise after Sir Tom lost his wife especially I Won't Crumble which is a fairly new one for him has special meaning after losing Lady Linda, they knew each other from a very early age and became parents age 16 to son Mark, who has been his dad's manager since the early 1980's
Would love to hear you react to Tom singing the Paul Anka song, "Papa" on an Italian TV show in the 70's. Ignore the fashion excess of the era that Tom displays in his red velvet outfit and afro, and just be amazed at his delivery. Also check out his version of Van Morrison's "Carrying A Torch" (Van wanted Tom to record two of his songs for an album Tom was doing, and this is one). You actually can see Van in this captured video that's up on YT. He's one of the musicians playing for Tom on the video. Morrison is clearly delighted with what Tom was doing with his song.
Tom Jones sang an impromptu rendition of that two years ago when he was 80 years old. Sir Tom Jones' 'Cry To Me' | Blind Auditions | The Voice UK 2021. Please watch it is you can.
For fun, I'd recommend you give a listen a very young Jordan Sparks' rendition of "I Who Have Nothing" from her American Idol first performance. It brought me to tears ❤
Amazing fact, Tom Jones was born just 12 miles approximately from Shirley Bassey. King and Queen of Wales
Tom does so many styles and genres it's too easy to get him wrong. You have to listen to alot! He is truly a vocal genius!

Both Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones are fantastic powerful singers from Wales.
Thanks for posting this. I love your reaction and I sure love Tom Jones a unique artist. He is like an opera singer that ROCKS!!!❤❤❤
He literally makes you feel EVERY Emotion with every note! Phenomenal ♥️🎶
This is one of favorites of his. My mom loved him.

Dame Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones come from South Wales not far away from each other !

A couple songs I never see reacted to are I Believe (video on UA-cam) and 16 Tons two very different songs but two of my favourites
Totally agree! I’m hoping those two songs will make it into the reaction rotation :) They’re both amazing!
