It changed the entire background music philosophy. Before Miami Vice it had been that stage created for the scene background. This made music give you the foreground feeling of the scene and it was yes, epic!
For the first time in my life, it occurred to me how psychotic these two must have been, riding through the streets of Miami in the dead of night. Putting this track on in the car, straight murder meditating while loading weapons. On the way to Iraq, a neighborhood dealer, his entire gang, neighbors, and family. No prayers, no warrants, no backup no cameras. Just Phill Collins yayo, this shotty, and my killin buddy. Waffle House on the way home... What do you listen to then 😂
This is the Best Scene in Cinematic History. I remember driving down to the Miami Vice set in 1985-1987, hoping to be an extra. The street lights on the hood of the Daytona are awesome.

You know, they call it riding "shotgun" because that's what the passenger in that seat would hold to fend off enemies, thieves, etc, on stagecoaches. Very appropriate that Tubbs is playing the part accordingly
That double barrel carried was the epitome of what Douglas Adams called there was a right into a weapon and a wrong answer were looking down the barrel of that you were at the wrong end
