Tubbs was hard as nails on that drive! Crocket should've strangled that sellout !
Music done by Phil The Shill Collins ;)
Watched this show sometimes with my Dad after my mom allowed me to watch the 2 pilot series as a kid.
A-team and knight rider conflicted with her Dallas shows but this I was allowed Friday nights.
It's probably THE only show where the 2 lead characters having such different personalities just gelled really well.

For the first time in my life, it occurred to me how psychotic these two must have been, riding through the streets of Miami in the dead of night. Putting this track on in the car, straight murder meditating while loading weapons. On the way to Iraq, a neighborhood dealer, his entire gang, neighbors, and family. No prayers, no warrants, no backup
      no cameras. Just Phill Collins
yayo, this shotty, and my killin

Knowing that they were riding into certain combat, possibly death... and that it was filmed SO WELL.... makes this one of the most iconic TV build-ups off of the soundtrack alone ever filmed. I mean, the LACK of dialog as both men prepare to face whatever happens is both amazingly well acted, but ALSO feeds into the soundtrack itself.

False. This was NOT the first episode nor even the pilot. Think about the show and how carefully they develop characters and plot and you think they'll jump into a cop on the take betraying loyalty to an undercover whom trusted him with his family?! Being a man my name is going facing the death even when you know a certain
Never run and you never hide
A man once asked me what is the difference? The dying with your head held high chin up being dragged death kicking a stranger!
Took me a minute but I realized the difference is a matter of purpose and pride

Impossible to fathom the constraints this show operated under. Pre-streaming, it was broadcast over the air and burdened with the rigidity of 1980s network TV. No f-bombs or s-bombs, no nudity, no excessive violence, no plots that end with a definite win for the bad guys. Its per-episode budget was high for the times, but a fraction of modern-day streaming shows. Yet it never relented in pressing the envelope in plotlines, cinematography or fashion.

If I was out at dinner or a bar when it was time for Miami Vice to come on, I excused myself, go home and watch it and then go back to the bar or restaurant. Never missed an episode.

Miami Vice put me on to Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight", One of thee most baddest, iconic scenes in TV.
Them two were smooth, the night was right, driving that ferrari, Tubbs loading the shotgun, Phil Collins set the mood & no other song could of provided this historic TV moment
Shiggedy still 🤬s me up watching it

Nobody was making television like this before this. These are cinematic shots with character dialogue being spoken right over the top of popular songs that you could hear on the radio debuting the week before.
And who in the world could’ve thought to mount a camera on the front of that Jaguar to get thatl low angle shot? I can’t even think of another time I’ve seen that shot.

It was not Jaguar. Just a replica of Ferrari. And they are not able to make another show like this one. They have no actors, music, creativity for this.

What's amazing is I watched this when it aired and Enzo Ferrari gave them 3 Testarossas for free after this aired because he knew the power of this one episode was one for the aged and would live forever. What a time to be alive and I was there to view it. I feel for those who now just get to view that and have it move them.
