    You converted cartesian to polar and NOT cartesian to parametric

      Something is polar where it is purely in terms of r and ø as variables. He was expressing x and y in terms of only ø because r is not a variable, it will have a fixed value. Therefore ø is the parameter and he was not entirely converting to polar
