Cinderella never went to the ball for a prince, she went because she wanted to have fun and get out of her stepmother’s house even if it was just for one night.
Yea😦😧
So its a good song
Amean
She didn't even know the person she danced with was the prince until the next day when her stepmother told them the news about the prince looking for her.
Similar to the original story of “The Little Mermaid.” The mermaid was never interested in getting a man, she wanted to become human to get a soul and have eternal existence in Heaven. Marrying the Prince was how she was going to get a soul.
People are forgetting. Being a girl boss doesn't mean you can't be girly. You can wear dresses and care about what you wear and everything and still be a girl boss.
Yes and same goes for the boys but that doesnt mean they cant be girly

I disagree I love her songs usually but I Won’t be allowing my kids to listen to her now because of the GD. That’s a absolutely disgusting word to use.
@@haddoxkm08 There is no such thing as bad words, only bad intentions. Kids hear the world, no escaping it. But hey, to each their own. Personally, the more godammits and f-bombs the better. But I love cussin'. In this case, I would argue the "GD" gives the song a gutteral, furious kick of emotional truth that will resonate with people of all ages. But I get it. We all have our things. I encourage my kids to cuss like drunken nuns. It's hilarious. First time I saw my son and his best friend flip each off as a friendly greeting, my heart swelled with pride. Atta boy.
@@haddoxkm08 I'd argue that there are no bad words, just bad timing. And the timing couldn't be better.

Exactly! I wish I had Jax songs when I was growing up! 💛
I don't see it as empowerment, its a grown woman, singing about sleeping around! And we call this a children's song?! It also talks about gay relationships, and burning down things because of anger. This is sending the wrong messages to our kids.
Right because Mulan didn't earn the respect of China as a woman? She definitely didn't break the norm going to war. She is not be a warrior who had men follow her lead. Y'all disrespecting Mulan. Don't get me started on Independent Woman Tiana who dreamed of a restaurant not a prince.

I'm obsessed with it. There's a lot of songs that talk about this argument but you, you gave a whole different version of this. I mean this song is powerful, has a good rhythm, is catchy, is beautiful. And the rapped part... gorgeous. Love it ❤️
that is true, it makes for a wonderful story in its own right. I still don't understand why she implies that the prince stole her shoe (waiting for a boy to give back her shoe), that the prince cheated on her with her stepsister(s) every weekend, and that she's a CEO but wants equal pay (really!!??!?! since when does a CEO want equal pay?). Oh yeah, and last I checked, cheating is most absolutely not treason.
Rapunzel? A woman with hair like that would die before shaving it. No? Sure about that? Pretty sure she wanted that guy in her tower. Disagree? Maybe we are talking about someone else's story,
Sleeping Beauty sues the guy who wakes her from a coma, induced by a wicked b**ch. How 21st century. She must have checked with her lawyers to make sure the guy who saved her has enough money to sue for! What a typical man! How dare he save her without her consent!
The whole point of the Beauty and the Beast story is not to draw conclusions from appearances; the Beast turned out to be nice! These lyrics imply that Beauty, despite seeming to be kind and lovely, in fact was horrible deep down. Again, really!
Hans Christian Anderson wrote the Little Mermaid (Ariel) as a cautionary tale for a young woman who wants to run away with the first idiot she desires, and discovers that when she abandons her original life in pursuit of such folly both her family and her lover end up abandoning her. Got a chance to chase down "Frozen" here too, but I'll show mercy.
These fables have long served a purpose in our culture, not only as entertainment and distraction, but as warnings against the most basic foibles of youth.
Why can a dubious songstress just make a mockery of this with (clearly) little to any thought and just change all of this literature into: Man is Bad, Woman is Good?
@@richardmohr9218 It seems you enjoy research? So, I thought you might enjoy the origins of Sleeping Beauty. Reading the earlier versions is quite interesting, to say the least. Along with researching the various authors, especially the Brothers Grimm... Have a lovely day! 😊
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sleeping Beauty. This dates back to the rendition of L'histoire de Troylus et de la belle Zellandine. Written in French by an anonymous author. In this version, the King's step-mother tries to cook, and then serve, the children. This story then appeared in Perceforest, also written in French, written in the Low Countries between 1330 and 1345. In this version, the prince rapes her while she is sleeping, and gets her pregnant. She gives birth, still without waking. The first full-length Sleeping Beauty tale was written by Giambattista Basile. He was Italian. Sole, Luna, e Talia was published in 1634. Then, Charles Perrault's version was published in 1697. Entitled, La Belle au Bois Dormant. This version is most similar to the story we know today. The tale of Little Briar Rose is from the Brothers Grimm in 1812. This version left out the cannibalism, adultery, and rape of previous versions. This is rare for the Brothers Grimm, as they are known for their dark and disturbing versions of stories.
The sleep thorn and being pricked with a spindle was then referenced in Southern Indian tale, written by Little Surya Bai. This story was added to Old Deccan Days, a collection of stories written by Mary Frere in 1868.
The story continues to evolve with younger generations. And for generations to come.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@@drtatt8081 Thank you Dr Tatt. My level of research does not go as deep as yours (If you could send me a link, I would appreciate it), It only really extends to me owning a copy of the complete Brothers Grimm tales, apparently, unabridged. I wonder how far back these tales go and how much truth is in them? One theme that seems to run through nearly all of them is the horrible stepmother character, who uses sexual favors to convince an otherwise kindly man,to kill, eat or exile his children in order for the couple to make ends meet during trying times. It seems that this European fear of the monstrous woman was a result of social difficulties, including religious extremes, social paranoia and violence. Baba Yaga etc. I'm no doctor, but these things interest me. Your thoughts and/ or wisdom would be much appreciated. Thank you for tour eloquent reply
That’s so sad that this is people’s music choice 😔
@@richardmohr9218 She didn’t say he stole her shoe she says she’s waiting for him to give it back, which Cinderella was waiting for him to give it back, because he announced he had it so she knew he did and was waiting for the chance to get it back.
Its a modern retelling and guys cheat in modern time. Also cheating was considered treason when royals cheated. Equal pay is not referring to being a CEO it’s referring to being a woman as in women do not receive equal pay.
Rapunzel had such long hair she could throw it out the window of a tower all the way to the ground and use it as a rope to pull people up. Do you have any idea how long it would take to wash meaning get all of it wet, shampoo all of it, and add conditioner to all of it, then dry it, brush it and style it?
I can guarantee she’d rather cut it all off.
As for wanting the guy in the tower of course she did her only companion is the witch who forced her in the tower to begin with. She’s desperate for human contact. That doesn’t mean it’s a good or healthy relationship to fall for the first guy who happens to visit her.
Sleeping Beauty suing isn’t about the money. Its about the fact that he kissed her without permission, which is sexual assault. And no saying oh I saved her (just like rapists say oh no I saved her from sexual frustration) does not make the act ok.
Saying Beauty is the beast isn’t saying she’s ugly. In that part it’s using modern lingo and calling someone a beast is a positive, because it means your saying they are strong, skilled, or dominant in an activity.
As for Ariel, again it’s a modern retelling one of the big issues women face is body shaming and body positivity. If you’ve got curves you’re told your to fat if you’re to skinny your told your going to blow away in the wind you need to put some meat on your bones. Ariel didn’t like her fins. She felt like she had to have legs to get the prince to fall in love with her. She could’ve just told him she was a mermaid and he could’ve met her there at the beach every day to get to know each other. But no she was ashamed of her mermaid tale. Women also feel like they have to be a certain way if we ever want to find love. This song is saying its ok to have curves or not have curves. Its ok to feel confident in your own body without being perfect or having to change who you are. In a perfect world Ariel would’ve been born human so she could meet the prince without worrying about what she was born with or changing who she was.
Yes, some of the older lessons are still important, but we’ve already seen those in movies. We’ve already read them in books. This song is a modern retelling where you learn new lessons.
Like don’t promise your heart to the first guy who saves you from a bad situation such as a tower or evil step family. In Ariel’s case be confident enough in your own body you don’t have to depend on the sea witch.
Also, this song isn’t about hating on men. Yes, it’s a girl power songs but that doesn’t automatically make it a man hater song.
The only men it’s talking about disliking are rapists and cheaters but considering rape and cheating is bad that makes perfect sense.
It does say she doesn’t need a prince. But not needing a prince isn’t the same as not wanting one.
And wouldn’t you rather have a girl want you for who you are rather than her being so terrified of being alone that she only needs you because you’re better than nobody? Because if she has nobody society tells her something is wrong with her.
So then you aren’t really the love of her life that she wants your just a nobody who happens to give her something society has told her she needs.
Or to put it another way wouldn’t you rather she want you and love you flaws and all rather than she puts up with your flaws only because she need you for what you can give her?
Lyrics
One upon a time there was a princess
Waiting for a boy to give back her shoe
Suck it in, suck it in, be a wife in a blue dress
The prettiest piece of property the land ever knew
She waited and she waited for the guy to show
But she didn't know that after midnight
He was busy in her stepsister's bed
So Cinderelly said, "Plot twist"
I don't need no prince to save me
I'm a goddamn CEO
Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me
Snow White said you tried to kiss her
So I'll just buy a new glass slipper and
Burn your castle down
And kids, that's how Cinderella snapped
When the smoke cleared, every girl in the whole land
Woke the fuck up and started making demands
Rapunzel shaved their head so there was nothin' to climb on
Jasmine made out with Mulan
Sleeping Beauty sued the dude who kissed her while she was asleep
And Ariel was confident without any feet
Tiana went and got a biomedical degree
And Beauty realized that she was the Beast
I don't need no prince to save me
I'm a goddamn CEO
Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me
Snow White said you tried to kiss her
So I'll just buy a new glass slipper and
Burn your castle down
And kids, that's how Cinderella snapped
He said, "Cindy, sweetie, don't be so emotional
You're always so emotional
It's fine to be controllable"
If I'm emotional, that'd be the reason for you to address me
While you're on your knees in the scary event
That I get too emotional during your trial
So watch how you're speaking
'Cause while you were sleeping around every weekend
And using your power to pray on the weakest
I studied your own legislation all season
And last I checked, cheating is treason
I don't need no prince to save me
I'm a goddamn CEO
Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me

@lexus3934 That makes sense
because people are starting to think cinderella had the prince save her from her stepmother's and stepsister's abuse instead of "doing it herself" even though all cinderella wanted was to go to the ball to dance and have fun and in the end she fell in love and got a prince and SURVIVED abuse still and dealt with it for YEARS prior but no...
people refuse to see that and so that's why they use her for THESE types of songs
@Spirit_Imagination yeah, it sucks people undermine the original princesses' so much and decided to change things to fit their own thing.
@@BlooLynx what's even more sad to me is there are better examples to use like Anne Bolin or just any to all of Henry the 8th's 6 wives or maybe some other historical figure that people could learn about from a song. For context: Anne Bolin (Henry's 2nd wife who essentially cheated on his first wife with) got beheaded for "hanging out with other men" or something within that territory because Henry the 8th wanted to divorce Anne in order to Mary a wife who would give him a son to take over the thrown but Anne Bolin wanted her daughter Elizabeth to grow up and take the thrown so she wasn't gonna divorce so he found a "reasonable" reason back then to get rid of her even though he's essentially doing the same thing or worse. Something like that would fit for this song, in fact, it's already been done by "Six" the musical. While Six the musical isn't completely accurate, it still is for the most part in the main idea and shows empowerment without truly saying it.
The princess crossover we didn't know we needed💛

Omfg I’m obsessed with this song and this truly an important message
I just found this song. It helped me validate me being uninterested in romantic relationships, all my life being pressured to aspire that but never feeling right.
this sounds like it's from a 2009 disney channel movie
Yeah for real
I could see this in the Cinderella Story move with Hilary Duff lol
"I dont need no man" THE SONG
"I am not simping anymore" - this song. And a good message overall.
Bro this is the best feeling ever…
When you can sing the whole song without looking at the screen!!!❤ (even fast parts, we love the rap)
I've watched this dozens of times and every time I have tears. It's so powerful. I've followed you on Tik Tok for a while. This is your best song but the effort you put in to everything you do is inspiring.
This song is on all levels AMAZING!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!
1:57 holy hecking frick that goes so hard
Tiara didn’t need that degree she was doing amazing with her restaurant
Jax singing plus the lyrics of her music equals perfect combination
JAX, you inspired me to write my own songs. I am going to a recording studio to record the songs I made. I want you to know I was so inspired by you because you don't care about what other people think about your songs, you only care about the meaning behind them. Thank you!
Good luckkk
Best of luck!

“Yea, we have Meghan trainor at home”

At least meghan Trainor sounds good
@@icanpooptwiceadayyay8771 I honestly dont know what to say if you think that, one song sounded slightly okay to me and it was mostly just because the beat isnt boring. Meghan trainor is literal bottom of the barrel sorry not sorry lol

This song is truly awesome. I have 2 sons and I hope to God they'll never be in a relationship that is abusive or has them not thinking about them or their mental health first.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!!

Be loud and let all the girls know we don't NEED to be saved. We can save ourselves.
I'm a person who rarely listens to the lyrics in the song, just the beat and the chorus....but every single one of Jax songs has me hooked onto each word..the meaning is just 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 love you girl! From a 32 year old with 2 tweens!
I found myself playing these song every day its amazing love it well done JAX😆😆😆 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
I don't know why, but i'm dying to see someone do ASL to this. It has so much energy
I love that you’re writing songs directly for the girls
@Kasha O'Basha even if that was true, it’s still better than teaching them that they’re objects for men to collect
Goosebumps everywhere I love this song
Having raised two daughters and now they’ve given me two grand daughters I really wish you would make a kick ass video for this song so all the girls of any age could feel the empowerment this song vibes out as a now retired rapper and song writer myself wat I admire most about this song is the genius story telling and the brilliant changes in tone and cadence you wrote and sang the hell out of this song I can’t say enough about the complex structure of wat most would see as a great girl owner song and it is but writers will know exactly where I’m coming from there’s nothing at all easy about all those changes while your writing it it may be simple sounds and simple to play it after it’s completed but from concept to finish 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 bravo!!!
Watching my girls, "rock out" in their words, to this song is a whole other level😂🎉❤✨️
This is actual gas🔥🔥🔥 I should propanly instal my carnbon monoxhidee deector🔥🔥

Please make this into an official music video i would love that
This is better than mad at Disney
This needs to blow up I freaking LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH ❤❤❤❤
I am a person that grew up with a bit of everything
I have watched a lot of things and this is the kind of songs that i love ♥️
Can we just appreciate this song? This song is basically me. I remember my friends were telling each other their sexuality, i then i said this-"So let me get this straight, Elena's Bi sexual, Haleila's straight, and IM SINGLE." honestly i feel like that one person thats single or 1 in a million chances get one person that thought the same thing.
Great song, great lyrics and excellent message Reminds me of Elle King's "Exes and Os" and a little bit of Gabriella Cimi's "Nothing sweet about me". I don't know how to call the genre because it's got a jazzy-bluesy, doo-wap (ish) kinda vibe but it switches to punk rock very smoothly. I really like it and I think you have a ton of talent.
Girl Power Pop!
@@mariekastler5391 is that the name of the genre?
@@anxofernandez3344 just a suggestion.
I, also, love Exes & Os!
❤Lyrice: One upon a time there was a princess
Waiting for a boy to give back her shoe
Suck it in, suck it in, be a wife in a blue dress
The prettiest piece of property the land ever knew
She waited and she waited for the guy to show
But she didn't know that after midnight
He was busy in her stepsister's bed
So Cinderelly said, "Plot twist"
I don't need no prince to save me
I'm a goddamn CEO
Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me
Snow White said you tried to kiss her
So I'll just buy a new glass slipper and
Burn your castle down
And kids, that's how Cinderella snapped
When the smoke cleared, every girl in the whole land
Woke the fuck up and started making demands
Rapunzel shaved their head so there was nothin' to climb on
Jasmine made out with Mulan
Sleeping Beauty sued the dude who kissed her while she was asleep
And Ariel was confident without any feet
Tiana went and got a biomedical degree
And Beauty realized that she was the Beast
I don't need no prince to save me
I'm a goddamn CEO
Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me
Snow White said you tried to kiss her
So I'll just buy a new glass slipper and
Burn your castle down
And kids, that's how Cinderella snapped
He said, "Cindy, sweetie, don't be so emotional
You're always so emotional
It's fine to be controllable"
If I'm emotional, that'd be the reason for you to address me
While you're on your knees in the scary event
That I get too emotional during your trial
So watch how you're speaking
'Cause while you were sleeping around every weekend
And using your power to pray on the weakest
I studied your own legislation all season
And last I checked, cheating is treason
I don't need no prince to save me
I'm a goddamn CEO
Don't call me "Baby", equal pay me
Snow White said you tried to kiss her
So I'll just buy a new glass slipper and
Burn your castle down
And kids, that's how Cinderella snapped
Thanks a lot!! Stay safe, take care and have a lovely weekend.
Yea I think we know that it’s a lyric video
@@Amazea-zp3gt even though its a lyric video, its easier to sing along if there are people commenting the lyrics. It helps a lot especially if ur hearing the song for the 1st time/have'nt memorized the lines yet.
@@Amazea-zp3gt it's a fast-paced song Especially towards the end where she's talking really really really fast and those of us who have ADHD it's hard for us to focus on the words as they're going so fast as well as focus on the background effects so why don't you be respectful and shut the fuck up and leave us alone fine it doesn't help you but it helped some of the other people on here like me
Oh my god looking at the lyrics just proves my point. THIS SONG SUCKS
Yes!!! No one should be waiting for someone to save them!! We have to save ourselves!!!
this is just ONE of my favorite song by JAX I absolutely love her music
Hi @Jax! I love your songs. You really are an inspiration and this song pops up all the time in my head. I love the way that you portray Cinderella. All your songs are amazing! This song is so beautiful and catchy. Keep doing what you’re doing and inspiring all people, younger and older.
Thank you Jax, for this song. Every girl needs to be reminded now and then, regardless if they are 5 or 50 years old. 💪🏻
5?!? We should not be talking to our kids about "sleeping around"!! or gay relationships, OR burning down places for revenge. This is sending a wrong message to our kids.
