XG is different because XG members are students of the hip-hop culture. XG's rapping RAPPING. Their swag is genuine. Not forced. They paid homage and tribute to hip-hop and hip-hop artists. If you ain't paying attention to XG's rap lyrics, you're going to miss a lot of bars on top of bars.
10:29 HARVEY 🦄 It’s interesting because many people gave her flack about the sound of her voice and people were hating on it yet after you listen to the breath of their work you realize she is such an integral part she would be sorely missed if she wasn’t there. And no one else has Harvey’s Swag either, not to mention she’s one incredible dancer 💃🏻
BlackPink - Shutdown.. I think that would be the closest you could get. It's going to be hard finding anything to compare to XG when XG does everything well.
Huge XG fan. Baby Monster, love them. The youngest is 15, oldest 22. They have lots of room to grow and I am here for that. Nothing but love and support for all of these talented young ladies.
THIS INDUSTRY..THIS WORLD..THIS PLANET NEVER HAD SUCH A TALENTED,VERSATILE & COMPLETE GIRL GROUP EVER BEFORE GLOBALLY. THEY ARE THE MOST COMPLETE GIRL GROUP AS ARTISTS EVER. COACHELLA & THIS ENTIRE PLANET SHOULD BE FEELING SO BLESSED HAVING THEM IN OUR LIFE ●

Well this is the biggest difference between the K-Pop sounds and the XG and Japanese sound. This you can tell is someone saying we need a "Woke Up" for our group. XG uses 808s, trap, drill and many other sounds from western hip hop. K-Pop uses more elements from dance/club music. It is telling that the rappers that stand out are Japanese. A lot of Japanese music not only XG but also in their pop, rock, and even metal scenes are able to blend classic sounds from different genres and blend it together and make something brand new that also feels familiar. Japan is on another level musically, it's had me enraptured for the last 10 years.
Basically the Japanese population loves/appreciates music of all genres at a diffrent level than most other countries. Unfortunately korea isn't the same, so kpop becomes kind of an echo chamber.
For the band scene, I even have to say people need to stop sleeping on Band-Maid because they'll rock your socks off! Those girls are also from Japan and they're fire!
XG basically is in its own lane with no real comps in terms of creativity, hardcore “rapping rapping” with lyricism, cultural and historical references (they reference Noriega, J Cole, Bone Thugs & Harmony, and NWA Eazy E (Cruisin’ in my ‘64). No other groups do this. Cocona did a solo dance to Pop Smoke and they rapped over beats by Dreamville JID, J Cole and others. Cocona rapped over Jay-Z’s Dirt off my Shoulder and Maya did a track off the beat of Million Cash by Armani White and Connor Price. Rap and Hip Hop is in their veins, they are not playing at being rappers, they ARE rappers in terms of their flow, cadence, inflections etc. You are “OG”, you tell us. Babymonster is talented and Ruka and Asa are fantastic rappers and the group are vocally superb no doubt. But as you get deeper into XG and their team you will see the live and respect for OG hip hop and R&B. Check out their covers of TLC No Scrubs and MJ’s Rock With Me. You’ll see
You are not wrong. This has always been my criticism. They are talented but them doing rap and hip hop it’s a concept that’s taught. XG it’s who they are. They grew up on hip hop R&b and really listen to the music on their own . Simon just refined what was there
As an old hip hop head xg is the only group from over there that really got to me. They are hip hop & r&b. You can hear in their rapping that they are true students of the game. The flow switches, the candences, the delivery, their back and forth rapping is crazy. They are just great all around rappers. On top of that the vocal line is outstanding and got it too. when kpop artists like Babymonster, Blackpink, etc. start rapping its just not there. In most cases they only go fast and got easy lyrics to make them look better.
Xg is a one way trip. They are laying the foundations of music from today to 20 years. an all rounder group that surfs the beats. There is currently nothing to compare them. The closest thing was New Jeans, not in its level but in its authentic sound.
Babymonster and XG while having many similarities don't compare directly. They are targeting different audiences and the make up of the groups are very different. XG has 4 rappers and 3 vocalists while BM has 5 vocalists and 2 rappers. BM tracks are also following very formulaic standard kpop sound for the exception of maybe 2 tracks, where xg are following much more western sound for the exception of a couple of tracks. The only female group that comes close to XG is Badvillian, specifically their Hurricane video, but some of their more recent tracks sounds more formula kpop. To get more of that hip hop vibe you'll have to look at the boy groups like Stray Kids, One Or Eight, BTS. 🐺🐺🐺🐺
@og reacts, you're not wrong. 05:00. Post WW2 there was an obvious influx of American culture that was absorbed by the Japanese naturally due to occupation and economic ties. This clearly extended to music at the time, so they started to get introduced to American rock, jazz, and other genres early on. South Korea, due to the war, took a lot longer to adopt American music genres, and in fact, they adopted more Japanese pop early on before American pop. Jpop came to Korea way before kpop even existed. Now it's all one big melting pot, but make no mistake, hip hop culture has been huge in both countries for decades.
I'm glad someone else said it. I've been saying the rapline needs better writers since they came out. The rappers got some swag and they got the delivery down, but the lyrics are weak, almost elementary. Very direct no complexity, no entendres or multi syllabic schemes. Just basic writing. Some don't care about that, real Hip-hop heads do though. XGs music just hits different to us. Being raised in NY in the early 90s through 2000s, the sound they tapped into is what I grew up on. They might not be writing or heavily involved in it, but their delivery is top tier. Simon has done an amazing job finding the right writers.
No knock on Baby Monster but the K-pop industry is paying attention to XG and there are a lot of groups coming out trying to emulate the XG vibe. This is why it feels forced or as you said contrived. Now there are a lot of really solid female K-pop groups. I suggest you check out - New Jeans - Le Sserafim - kiss of life - Aespa As a few to start with. They will give you singing and dancing but not a lot of rap. Some are solid singers but as you can tell from First Take the XG vocal sound isn’t created by a sound engineer. They are really well trained singers who harmonize extremely well. Some of the groups on this list (one in particular) has great songs but their live singing skills are not great at all. So there are definitely some appealing girl groups in k-pop but no one is really doing what XG is doing.
Agree. Le Sserafim performing at Coachella when they were obviously not ready comes to mind. They don't have the training and calibre that XG has. I know XG for sure will set that stage on fire.
I did thought some kpop groups are tryna add hints of xg swaagy vibes a bit at a time but… yeah some things cant be taught or learned like that. XG they just be radiating so much aura and swag like they were naturally born so lolol if i even make sense
Whoever suggested Clik Clak as your first Babymonster experience set you up for failure. Straight up. Nowhere near their best work, and like has been said, the writers let them down here.
I would say the biggest difference is that XG is a global hip-hop/R&B group and all of their main releases are in English. Babymonster are a more traditional K-pop group. Babymonster 2 main rappers are Japanese and can actually go off, but on their releases, it sticks to the K-pop formula.
Great reaction. Thank you for reacting to Babymonster. Babymonster are very charismatic in their own avenues. XG and Babymon can't be compared because they are in different lanes although XG is X-Pop and Babymonster is K-Pop which have many similarities and many differences. XG is mainly hip-hop/rap based whereas Babymonster are more multi-genre on the multi-genre which is K-Pop spectrum.
Maya in Million Cash has more rhythm, flow changes and relevant social messaging in one minute and 22 seconds than all seven of BM in three minutes of Click Clack. That repetitiousness in click clack really turns me off except for the upbeat section at the end but it didn't go anywhere.
Prior to XG I listened to Blackpink. They are also good but in a diff class diff from XG. XG is still my bias but there are some good groups out there. Not hate on other groups but XG is just different! I still listen to others just not crazy about them like I am with XG. ❤
Based in South Korea, Babymonster is made up of 7 members... 3 from South Korea, 2 from Japan, and 2 from Thailand. They are multi-talented with 2 main rappers in the group however, they can all sing, rap and dance and in any genre. they debuted officially on April 1, 2024 and this is the first song where all 7 members rap.
I’m gonna be honest, prior to XG the only other group near the K-pop realm that was scratching the hip-hop & rnb itch for me was BTS. Most of this is showcased in their side tracks nowadays like Dis-ease or UGH! (If you want to see them dance, their most recent “Run BTS” dance practice is good) Most of their newer title tracks lean more pop (I mean, they’re good pop songs , but that doesn’t seem to be what you’re looking for). Also, the rappers in the group (RM, Agust D, J-Hope) have solo albums you might be interested in. As far as just rnb, Red Velvet on their “velvet” tracks like “Underwater” and “Automatic”. For a Michael Jackson adjacent vibe (especially in terms of dance): basically all of Taemin’s solo songs like “Guilty” and “Criminal”. Post XG, there have been some newer groups popping up that don’t have enough songs for me to totally judge accurately but Young Posse and Badvillian are on my watchlist. Their songs so far haven’t completely got me, but I see the potential. Overall though, XG is as close as you’re going to get to a western hip hop vibe at the moment
Babymonster is one of the groups that only has 3-4 bars of rap in some songs. Rap wise badvillain and young posse are the only ones doing mostly full rap songs besides XG.
XG is not just about hip-hop and R&B. It also has house music and pop. I don't know what kind of songs they'll release each time. I'm sure there will be songs that I don't like. That's just the way it is.
To be fair, although XG never misses song wise, the same can’t be said for other groups. In this case, Clik Clak is not their best song. Maybe try Drip The First Take or Like That (written by Charlie Puth). But you’re right in that not many artists can stand up to XG because as you said, the team behind XG (Simon and Chancellor) have a deep knowledge and respect for OG rap, hip hop (both West and East Coast), R&B and many other styles like UK Garage
Baby monster good too but XG still my fav. JAKOPS music production stands out more to me as YG production more chanting choruses but XGALX is more nuanced, nostalgic, soulful and authentic to both the artists and the producers.
I'm sorry, but as an old Hiphop head, I can't stand these songs where every single singer/rapper repeats the same word 200 times in their four lines. I don't know who told them that's cool and swaggy, but to me, it detracts from the quality of their song. I know that's what Kpop is all about and that's why it's so hard for me to follow Kpop groups. With the exception of XG because they are not Kpop and they don't follow their stereotypes and guidelines on how to do things.
The issue is that you are looking at everything strictly through a Hip Hop lens. Therefore, Kpop is NOT going to be for you because they don't really do genuine Hip Hop, they sort of brutalize it and take elements and mix it into Kpop which sometimes works, but a lot of times doesn't. If you really want Hip Hop, you have to actually dive into Korean Hip Hop. And, honestly there really aren't any female groups in Korean Hip Hop. However, there are plenty of female soloists. Hands down, the most skilled South Korean female rapper is Lee Young Ji and I would say right after is a girl named SINCE. There is a chance It might not be to your liking because they rap in Korean, and I find that a lot of Westerners are specifically drawn to XG because of the fact that their songs are all English. But, you can definitely tell the difference in "skills" with flow and delivery between REAL rappers and "idols" which XG falls into the latter. XG are arguably some of the best "idol" rappers, but objectively, Lee Young Ji and SINCE are far better rappers than XG which isn't a knock on XG. It's just that with anything, there are levels. And, XG is at the top of the "idol" girl group scene, but as rapper rappers, they aren't going to win or place high in any rapping competitions like Lee Young Ji or SINCE. If you plan to check out male Hip Hop artists, then this might come as a shock to you... There might be a bigger and more vibrant Hip Hop scene in Asia than there is in the US. Asia has plenty of popular network televised Hip Hop/Rap survival competitions, especially in South Korea. The obvious choice of introduction to Korean Hip Hop/Rap would be Jay Park because he is originally an American from Seattle that became a famous Kpop idol, and is somewhat considered a pioneer in the Korean Hip Hop scene. He also had a freestyle on Sway's Universe that sort of went viral. If you really want to deep dive into the history of Korean Hip Hop, then groups and artists like Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Tiger JK, Simon Dominic are all OG's. As for females, it would probably be Yoon Mi Rae who is also the wife of Tiger JK, and she has a song called Black Happiness which you might be interested in because Yoon Mi Rae is biracial, Black & Korean, and the song is about her unique and difficult experiences growing up in Korea half-Black. After that, if you aren't bothered by the rapping being in Korean, I would then suggest you check out Dingo's Killing Verse on UA-cam which is similar to Japan's First Take, but is South Korea's version for rappers and Hip Hop artists. If you want to listen to vocals, they have a different version called Dingo's Killing Voice. All of the performances are live one takes, but instead of one full song like First Take, the artists sing a little part of a bunch of songs from their discography. Apologies for such a long-winded post, but I tried being as thorough as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Unlike most other people who are just surface "fans", I'm not a fan, I just like to be as informed and knowledgeable as possible.
there's K-hip hop as well separate from Kpop. also lots of Kpop artists have the odd off song that have a much more global/american sound that is easier for new to Kpop ears. which means you might like a track here and there but not vibe with all of it and go a route that you mostly wouldn't be happy with unless it was hand picked for you. I haven't found any other group that has it all consistently like XG especially if you expect all in english. you may have to compromise a bit for songs that incorporate english, vibe with the music and be willing to read along with subtitles if this is to be a journey for you. then be pleasantly surprised when an all english track/vibe banger pops up from time to time. the music is marketed to a lot of non english speakers and english is only just getting more and more used. it's been a journey for me as an american relatively new to the world music scene. i've found so many great new artists to follow and it's been a pleasure to discover so much in the kpop scene as well as others outside of the US.
XG is my favorite group, they got me into Kpop even though they are not kpop 😂, there’s still some songs from them I just don’t like as there will be for every group and there’s so many cringe fans on both sides that don’t understand that.
XG is different, and I favor them as well over all others. I do enjoy BABYMONSTER, though I would say when it comes to K-Pop/K-HipHop/K-R&B flare I think the new group MOEVV (on TheBlackLabel and backed by Atlantic Records) has the performance level, vocals, rap and swag I prefer coming out of South Korea. Check out their 'MOEW' music video, or 'BODY' performance video to hear and see what they do (similar in that they all can sing, rap and dance... though not yet at the legendary level of XG).
BabyMonster isn't being compared to XG. They're living in the shadow of BlackPink as the next Generation of YG. XG is on the forefront of their own legacy. Young Posse might be a better comparison but even they have their own lane. New Jeans and Le Serafim is also groups to keep an eye out for.
The only kpop group I know that does hiphop RIGHT and pays homage to all of the ogs is Young Posse. Group of very young girls but they write and choreograph their own stuff most of the time and their songs are straight out of the 90s hiphop scene. Check out "XXL" "Ate that" and "Posse up!" if you have time :) XG obviously is next level but they arent kpop which is why I say young posse is the only KPOP group that does things as hard as XG
I also like that Young Posse actually acknowledged in an interview that hip-hop comes from a complex culture and that they will probably never be able to represent it well enough. I love their honesty and self introspection.
@ me too! They love the culture but they know they might make mistakes but when they do, they take responsibility and I’m happy the company listens when something is offensive.
I think im the 90s, Japan and the USA influenced each other a lot in the hip hop scene, i believe the origns of B-Boys and breaking was insprised atleast partially by martial arts? Bape was super popular in the American hip-hop scene and thats a Japanese based street wear brand. I said it in another comment, but as a whole the Japanese population just has a higher appreciation for music that a lot of other places.
Babymonster has a lot of talented girls, and a decent pop hit here and there, but they are like a ton of other Kpop groups...a product. The music conglomerates in Korea farm these girls and boys at bulk at early age, there's never a shortage of recruits. Results vary, but the investment usually pays out because the companies know their audience so well. Lately we've been seeing a lot more English-speakers and full English songs as they try to break out of just the Asian market. Again results vary, but it's a volume thing for them. They'll win enough to make it profitable. Sadly, this approach grinds up artists at a quick rate and there is a problem with drama, betrayal, burn out, and suicide in the industry.
Babymonster is k-pop and has it's own vibe it is not very hip hop I would say New Jeans is closer to xg but no one is doing it like xg is doing it that's why they mad x-pop no one can compare, cuz Noone else is doing x-pop. You have to be the best if you are the only one 😂
Baby Monster’s hype rode on the back of its big sister group Blackpink. BM is okay for it is. I’m sure they’ll eventually release better tracks in the future….if they change the producer. It’s a shame XG is not getting their proper recognition.
I feel like the music video for this song for some reason takes the energy out of it. I heard this song for the first time by watching their performance/dance video and I loved it. So idk, if you’re curious check that out see if you vibe with it more.
Something that really makes XG stand apart from a lot of the other hip hopish asian girl groups is that creator Simon put a lot of emphasis and training on ensuring that the XG girls have strong, clear distinct voices and they put maximum effort into mastering the American accent. A lot of the female groups when rapping use way too much vocal fry as a replacement for attitude. As American listeners, we can detect that right away then the performance starts to feel contrived instead of natural. XG has mastered making their delivery feel natural and convincing. In South Korea, Baby Monsta's style is probably more agreeable to K pop listeners but XG seems to be favored more globally as they have more a familiar western sound.
This group is really talented. But it is just not XG. They don’t give me American hip hop and R&B. XG is the one only. If girls group, I only listen to XG songs. Others just don’t give me hip hop and R&B (American) satisfaction. And I am not an American but we grew up with American music
can you react to RM's album "Right Place, Wrong Person"? He's a korean male rapper and the album (came out 5/24) was named one of the albums of the year by multiple reputable sources and got 5 stars from nme.
If you are interested in continuing to dive into K-pop, then I can offer you several groups BLACKPINK - Pink venom IVE - Heya (G)I-DLE - Super Lady DREAMCATCHER - Boca ITZY - Loco AESPA - Armageddon STRAY KIDS - Chk chk boom TREASURE - King Kong ATEEZ - Ice on my teeth
I tried to listen to Baby Monster too, but it’s not my cup of tea. I gave a critique and their fans are crazy. Haha. I gave them a couple chance and no group is like XG. I was told by BM fans, they have members from Korean, Thailand and Japan. Now I understand why BM is more popular than XG right now. Asian fans love to follow artist from their own country. XG is all Japanese with a couple mix race.
I think personally it’s unfair to compare any K-pop group to XG…. For one XG is not even considered K-pop. And even though they’re an all Japanese group, they’re not even considered J-pop. But don’t give me wrong baby monster was the second group I started listening to after XG. BABYMONSTER comes from a label called YG entertainment and their predecessors baby monsters like BLACKPINK and other groups from that label is where you would see that type of swag in K-pop. XG is considered. X-pop which is a style mixed with R&B and hip-hop, as well as rap and also singing and rapping all their songs in English. That’s the difference between BABYMONSTER and XG. BABYMONSTER does have some English, but also has 85% of Korean sound throughout their music. To be honest, there’s no one on XG’s level they’re in their own lane and if you ever watch their documentary on them extra extra, you would understand why.
Where Babymonster excels is their vocals. Clik Clak was a bit experimental from them - it's their only song with no singing lines - and feels like it was made as a catchy pop song with hip hop styling. That's why it falls short when compared to 'Woke Up' in terms of rap quality. If you are interested in checking out more Babymonster, you could try 'Drip' or 'Like That'
Oh some good Kpop suggestions I think you’d enjoy: ILLIT - Magnetic ILLIT - Cherish My Love Kiss of Life - Shhh! KISS of Life - Sticky Jennie - Mantra Le Sserafim - Smart (tho I like the English version most) Le Sserafim - Easy NewJeans - OMG MEOVV - Toxic BLACKPINK - Shut Down BLACKPINK - How You Like That
Watched a lot of of these other new groups coming out where people compare them to XG. Main difference to me is the substance of the lyrics. This song in particular sounds like many western artist just talking about was in a bag but XG actually has substance and wordplay without having to just talk about flashing or being slutty and that’s that. Not saying they don’t talk about getting bank but it’s tastefully done and intricately woven.
BM is very talented, so I think they just need time. As for potential in rap, here's pre-debut Asa at 16 covering Joyner Lucas' Look Alive Remix (some lyrics changed for this performance)... I'm guessing you'll enjoy this... ua-cam.com/video/SlGkck6xWWI/v-deo.html
You probably won’t like babymonster or the other groups because they are K-pop , XG is not K-pop. Check out sheesh or batter up, If you don’t like those you probably just don’t like K-pop. I like K-pop so I like them both.
XG is XG baby monster is baby monster, but XG is in their own lane they can’t be touched, they are a triple threat they know how to do hip hop and RB and they can dance they butt off! The swagg is natural the flow is natural students of the game indeed, baby monster is cringe and amateur their writing team is whack but hopefully they can get better because they have talent
XG is a whole different vibe. none of these other asian groups hit the same way for me that XG does. and i'm also a OG hip hop head from the USA. XG set the bar so high that these other groups are just mediocre compared to XG. Blackpink is the only group (when they are rapping) that comes close.
@@UR.FaVs.ARE.a.FAN.of-My-FaV i have to disagree. Jennys 2nd verse in pink venom went crazy dumb. her flow delivery and cadence rivals even woke up. have to give credit where it's due. to categorize baby monster on par with blackpink (lisa+jenny) rapping is disrespectful.
@mickpherson7651 okay. I respect your opinion. But my point is that Blackpink and Babymonster rap's lyrics are like a children nursery rhyme (no hate) almost identical.
@@UR.FaVs.ARE.a.FAN.of-My-FaV i'm not familiar with baby monster so i cannot comment. but as far as lyrics goes, XG is definitely on a higher level than every group. XG has schemes, word play, double entendres, even triple entendres. Blackpink does not have the intricate lyrics like XG but their flow and rapping is very close. pink venom song and shut down song from black pink has a few entendres. I just watched baby monster for reference and i had to shut it off. their lyrics is extremely basic. and their rapping and flow is not impressive to me.
Haver you tried listening to another Asian rapper called EZ-MIL. He has a song called IDK. You might want to check that out. I hope you will enjoy his music. We watch your channel to listen to YOUR OPINION. Just ignore those ppl who didnt agree with your OPINION. Thanks for the reaction.
This is exactly how I feel when people try to match up other bands to XG the flow ain't there the real swag ain't there everything else sounds like black pink clones which is not bad but it's cookie cutter K-pop black pink girls are beautiful and that's part of their appeal are there dancing skills got nothing on XG or the rapping skills. Blackpink is hype but not American Style
Idk I like Babymonster as individual girls but their music just doesn’t do it for me. The closest I think you’d get to a properly good song like XGs is gonna be Like That or one or two of the album cuts on Drip. All of their singles feel so forced imo
@@OGReacts-w2o You are new to Kpop culture. You are brave because Kpop stans can be savages, especially company stans of the "Big 4" labels (HYBE, YG, SM, and JYP).
@@OGReacts-w2odon't you ever stop being honest. A lot of reactors on UA-cam are just riding on these super popular K-pop groups bandwagon for clout, clicks, and views.
They're talented girls for sure but their songwriters and producers are mediocre. The songs and production lack substance. Like, how many times are you going to make them go clik clak clik clak clik clak.....YG's target audience are Kpop stans who are more into a group's vibe than musicality. They are the ones who can listen to "clik clak" on repeat about a dozen times and think "wow. this is song of the year!"
Trying too hard to be swag!! That's exactly how is see it too. I'm thankful to Babymonster though because it introuduced me too XG because of comparison videos. Try the group YOUNG POSSE, they are more hiphop than babymonster and better at rapping but nothing comparee to XG still.
XG makes music that eats you while BM makes filler music that plays when you’re in the changing rooms at H&M. Has there been a BM song that keeps popping up in your head days, weeks, months after? Yeah probably not. No hate to BM, but it is what it is.
You done opened up the flood gates OG lmao, anyways from watching this video I’m gonna predict the songs you WON’T like from XG, tippietoes, mascara, tgif, iykyk, something ain’t right, these are the more poppy songs from them (and trampoline but this one is just bad imo).
Tippy Toes, Mascara, TGIF have outstanding rap verses though. He might dig it. Hehe. IYKYK and SAR are UK garage so its gonna depend on how he likes that genre.
Babymonster have a great hip hop flavour, stemming from YG generation 1, decades ago, but they are aiming for a different market. Young Posse are the most hip hop kpop group and they do study the og's. XG dont like being called Kpop, but they are based in SK and fullfill the criteria....mostly rely on Simon for their direction.
I am so embarrassed and this is outright “unfair” considering that you’ve been fed from an ELITE Xpop Group of multitalented artists. One of the reasons WHY this group has the views is because of previous groups who were AMAZING but are no longer in the ENTERTAINMENT AGENCY. I loved the former artist who are semi Independent and somehow were I believe forced to return to prop up this NONSENSE. It’s also been proven that the views are (paid for) sadly are not genuine. I don’t like or agree with throwing other groups under the bus but the comparison is OBVIOUS. Maybe the writers will get better but this is pure CRINGE for me. The younger male group called “TREASURE” has some great music though. I support that YG Group fully. It sounds genuine and even though it’s in S. Korean their music 🎼 is I believe cowritten by the members.
For me rap is about voice and delivery and this ain’t it for me. They all sound the same to me. This is a miss. I think I only like one song from just one of them.
I love to finally see someone reacting to suggested groups and not attempt to be positive at all costs.
Exactly!!!! Stay real!! 💯

They have American co -writers & producers also. Thats what makes their music wide range & nostalgic.

The thing with xg is their lyrics aint cringy.,
Yes!!!
yes. and they created a lore that allows their lyrics to have that big talk.

Only way to be, right?
Babymonster is a talented K-pop group, but their current weakness lies in their songwriting team. I hope they focus more on meaningful lyrics.
Well this is the biggest difference between the K-Pop sounds and the XG and Japanese sound. This you can tell is someone saying we need a "Woke Up" for our group. Agree. I've been listening more to Japanese hiphop than its Western counterpart.
For the band scene, I even have to say people need to stop sleeping on Band-Maid because they'll rock your socks off! Those girls are also from Japan and they're fire!
@@Silvercloud94 me and my Band-Maid tattoo agree with you, along with my Lovebites tattoo and Babymetal tattoo
they also use alot of uk garage too which always sounds so good
XG basically is in its own lane with no real comps in terms of creativity, hardcore “rapping rapping” with lyricism, cultural and historical references (they reference Noriega, J Cole, Bone Thugs & Harmony, and NWA Eazy E (Cruisin’ in my ‘64).
Simon just refined what was there
XG counter is hilarious.
I can’t wait for your reaction to Howling.
He mentioned that Howling is worthy to be played in his car. Too bad, I would have loved seeing him react to it.
@ it’s coming he said m today.

Thanks for they education. Love it!
That's a fact!
No knock on Baby Monster but the K-pop industry is paying attention to XG and there are a lot of groups coming out trying to emulate the XG vibe. This is why it feels forced or as you said contrived.
Now there are a lot of really solid female K-pop groups. I suggest you check out
- New Jeans
- Le Sserafim
- kiss of life
- Aespa
As a few to start with.
I know XG for sure will set that stage on fire.
i agree on newjeans. im also bias because they have australian members
❤❤❤❤BABY MONSTER
Yeah this is my first attempt at even listening to it and it’s so repetitive that it’s kinda lazy. Million Cash is way better.
coz training wise xg really have a different approach in rap the way they attack the beat and ride with its crazy how simon xgalx did it.
Maya's TAPE 4 'Million Cash' makes K-pop "rappers" sound and looks like infants speaking gibberish. No hate. Just straight fact.
Prior to XG I listened to Blackpink. They are also good but in a diff class diff from XG. XG is still my bias but there are some good groups out there. Not hate on other groups but XG is just different! I still listen to others just not crazy about them like I am with XG. ❤
“this is a cute song” 😂

Babymonster is very much Kpop rap, very different then the western style that XG does.
there's K-hip hop as well separate from Kpop. also lots of Kpop artists have the odd off song that have a much more global/american sound that is easier for new to Kpop ears. which means you might like a track here and there but not vibe with all of it and go a route that you mostly wouldn't be happy with unless it was hand picked for you.
Thank you!
Harvey in Woke Up - black on black on black - on the black ship
TBF, i think the Clik Clak performance video, i.e. dance version is a better watch.
Check out "XXL" "Ate that" and "Posse up!" if you have time :)
XG obviously is next level but they arent kpop which is why I say young posse is the only KPOP group that does things as hard as XG
All this song has is a catchy hook. Baby Monster doesn't have that XG SWAG at all.
IMO, NewJeans isn't near being close to XG. NewJeans is more of candy crush bubble poppy type of music for kids and creepy uncles.
Will do!
XG is more attractive to me.
can you react to RM's album "Right Place, Wrong Person"? He's a korean male rapper and the album (came out 5/24) was named one of the albums of the year by multiple reputable sources and got 5 stars from nme.
If you are interested in continuing to dive into K-pop, then I can offer you several groups
BLACKPINK - Pink venom
IVE - Heya
(G)I-DLE - Super Lady
DREAMCATCHER - Boca
ITZY - Loco
AESPA - Armageddon
STRAY KIDS - Chk chk boom
TREASURE - King Kong
ATEEZ - Ice on my teeth
I agree! Good choices
Both have good documentary series also on their formation.
XG is all Japanese with a couple mix race.
if xg someday do some anime op for popular one they can also get a lot of new fans more❤
Honesty is good. XG is my favorite too. Can’t help it. Blackpink is pretty good as well. ✌️😊🔥
If you are interested in checking out more Babymonster, you could try 'Drip' or 'Like That'
You can do a song Battle: They both have a song called “Winter Without You.” You already know which song I think is better.
or maybe XG song woke up and babymonster Asa & ruka song woke up in tokyo 😅
Oh some good Kpop suggestions I think you’d enjoy:
ILLIT - Magnetic
ILLIT - Cherish My Love
Kiss of Life - Shhh!
KISS of Life - Sticky
Jennie - Mantra
Le Sserafim - Smart (tho I like the English version most)
Le Sserafim - Easy
NewJeans - OMG
MEOVV - Toxic
BLACKPINK - Shut Down
BLACKPINK - How You Like That
Startin with xg is tough tbh, anyone after this is just not gonna be able to compete😅
I appreciate your honest opinion. I appreciate both groups, but this song just didn't hit how I'm sure they intended it to.
By the response, clearly they have better stuff!
I feel like you’d like (G)IDLE also you’d like baby monsters older sister group. They are well known BLACK PINK
Because of XG I now like Awich
I’m an XG fan but i would suggest Sheesh or Batter Up from Babymonster.
Babymonster is from YG entertainment like BlackPink...BabyMons7er are considered the baby sisters to BlackPink
Bad villain hurricane I think that’s good or zoom by bad villain also
BM is very talented, so I think they just need time.
Same reaction here, BM is still not in XG's level.
XG is a whole different vibe. none of these other asian groups hit the same way for me that XG does. and i'm also a OG hip hop head from the USA. XG set the bar so high that these other groups are just mediocre compared to XG. Blackpink is the only group (when they are rapping) that comes close.
IMO, Blackpink's rapping isn't close to XG. As a matter of fact, Babymonster and Blackpink raps are literally identical.
Blackpink is hype but not American Style
i'll add some suggestions 1) Tiger JK, Paloalto, 우원재, MAN1AC, Los, YDG, Bizzy - Love Peace Movement (호심술 REMIX) | [DF LIVE] (search the title to find it) (2) BIBI Sugar Rush (search) (3) 미란이 (MIRANI) - 아스팔트 (Feat. pH-1) (Official Video) (search) (4) Zae - Oops I Did It Again
Thanks you!
Can you please react to BADVILLAIN 'HURRICANE'
Their younger then XG "Baby" monster
Idk I like Babymonster as individual girls but their music just doesn’t do it for me. The closest I think you’d get to a properly good song like XGs is gonna be Like That or one or two of the album cuts on Drip. All of their singles feel so forced imo
Please react to Xg tapes 4 and Vox videos
you are bold for doing this......
You think?
@@OGReacts-w2o it's commendable
@@OGReacts-w2o You are new to Kpop culture. You are brave because Kpop stans can be savages, especially company stans of the "Big 4" labels (HYBE, YG, SM, and JYP).
@@OGReacts-w2odon't you ever stop being honest. A lot of reactors on UA-cam are just riding on these super popular K-pop groups bandwagon for clout, clicks, and views.
Can you react to babymonster drip and blackpink shut down please ❤
They're talented girls for sure but their songwriters and producers are mediocre. The songs and production lack substance. Like, how many times are you going to make them go clik clak clik clak clik clak.....YG's target audience are Kpop stans who are more into a group's vibe than musicality. They are the ones who can listen to "clik clak" on repeat about a dozen times and think "wow. this is song of the year!"
if someone suggesting you to listen to Babymonster song Woke up in Tokyo please don't do it. JUST DON'T.
lol
Damn bruh the monsties gonna eat you alive lol...😅.... a lot of xg haters come from the kpop scene... hey but you keep it real
Did I say something bad! I can see their talent just not feeling the song and definitely would choose XG over them right now. Just a preference
Trying too hard to be swag!! That's exactly how is see it too. I'm thankful to Babymonster though because it introuduced me too XG because of comparison videos.
Try the group YOUNG POSSE, they are more hiphop than babymonster and better at rapping but nothing comparee to XG still.
Tbh I don’t like this song but I really hope BM got more dope song like Drip.
Go to see asa rap and tou change you mind
Ah, this explains your auto tune comment.
Cocona, Maya, Jurin, Harvey >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Asa
To add to the many reasons in the comments, this song is bad, and the idea to try to do this kinda stuff with that little effort from YG 😴
BM got so much potential to be good at Hiphop as XG but they’re wasting talents, especially Asa. Their R&B songs are good tho
BABYMON is good, you can try (Like That) or (Sheesh) this is their worst song in my opinion
I guess I gotta check them out now!
XG bodied all genres of music.
@@OGReacts-w2o I’d rather you check the rest of the catalog 😂
Tippy Toes, Mascara, TGIF have outstanding rap verses though. He might dig it. Hehe. IYKYK and SAR are UK garage so its gonna depend on how he likes that genre.
@@OGReacts-w2oyeah don’t listen to this person lol those songs are all bops except Trampoline. You’d hate Trampoline tbf
All my opinion, I think Baby monsters talent is wasted with their label
Appreciate it!
For me rap is about voice and delivery and this ain’t it for me. They all sound the same to me. This is a miss. I think I only like one song from just one of them.
if you react to other artist please don't say xg name even though your reaction is not xg cause xg is different to kpop
cant make any promises!
