Dune Prophecy episode 2 has arrived and the latest episode gives us some interesting developments with Desmond Hart, the water of life and rebels going against the emperor. Stay tuned for my trailer breakdown on episode 3 coming in the next few days.
I have a theory which I think is backed up by the facts we have, so potential spoiler 1) In her genetic memory, Doratea tells Lila that she is Lila's grandmother(making Doratea Raquela's granddaughter). She also says that Lila's mother is not there. That means Lila's mother/Doratea's daughter is not dead like Lila has been told. 2) In his second conversation with Valya, Desmond says "Ive always wondered what your greatest fear would be". That's not something you say to someone you don't know. 3) Clearly Doratea hates Valya and is doing what she can to prevent her plans. It's not that big of a leap to think her daughter(Lila's mom) shares her hate and desire to stop Valya. In the very least, I think Lila's mom is behind Desmond. Or her conscience could literally be in a Desmond ghola. Either way, I think it's pretty obvious Lila's mom has a role in the story
@@nathanlandolt5505what i find weird is, genetic memory should work regardless of the ancestor is dead or alive.. the other memory only goes until the point the next generation is born, any new born has previous memory( IF the go through the agony)...
Hearing someone in the Dune universe refer to a "revenant" (which is obviously a reference to Desmond Hart), is a clear sign that he is a ghola. It would also explain how he "survived" the worm attack and his fanaticism about destroying the Bene Gesserit. So eager to see what happens now in episode 3!
I wouldn't have minded it if the scenes themselves had a bit more going on narrative/character wise. The reason they haven't worked for me is that they've felt like moments they put in there to connect to a following scene. Really enjoyed this episode but agree on those scenes.
First of all it’s an hbo show with nice tits why are you complaining? In the dune universe they use sex to get information. It was relevent to the subplot with the richesse family. Just cause gay people think boobs are icky doesn’t mean the scene didn’t have a purpose. It served the plot better than most hbo sex scenes usually do, and doesn’t shy away from heteronormative sexuality and a woman using her sex appeal to further her goals, which is something popular television has been avoiding giving the green light for a while now. This show has the potential to be amazing. As long as they don’t try to ruin the actual dune universe with agenda pushing it will be solid. It’s set in a rich game of thronesy sci-fi universe and the show we get should look a lot like the early success of GOT. That’s at least what it seems like HBO is trying to get back to without rocking the boat too much, which is why they went with an offshoot of “sisters of dune” to adapt into a show.. they can still mainly have strong female leads but part of the catch of the benes is they’re often concubines of the dukes they serve. We’re gonna see some sex. Get used to it 🤷
I guess, Dune books tend to get horny and they're prolly trying to emphasize the sexual effects of spice but yeah, that sequence went on for two long even if there was some info dump
So far they havent betrayed Bene Gesserit lore and that makes me hopeful. Also Desmond has a dialogue “Shai Hulud took my eye and gave me power to see things that not even Bene Gesserit is capable of” or something like that. This implies Desmond was imbued with concentrated spice. He went through “Spice Agony” and survived (reborn). He is the first KH. We dont know the circumstances of that happening yet. That is why Desmond is hateful towards Sisterhood. But this doesnt explain his eyes. Also, watch out for Tula. I dont trust her. She is master manipulator and a liar. She was likely tasked to be Lila’s mother figure given her lineage. She manipulated Lila into going through the agony.
I'm thinking Desmond could be a thinking machine remnant. The last set of books written by Brian Hebert mentions something like that, but it'sbeen a while and can't recall what they were called. Those glowing blue eyes, from the visions, looks more like robot eyes then spice eyes. Could be the prophecy isn't actually about anything current but refers to the end of the gods emperors golden path.🤔🤔🤔 Desmond may just be a harbinger for the return if Omnius
I think Desmond was just messing with Valya by seemingly obeying her first two voice commands just refusing the third Outright showing he can resist her voice would shock her yes.. but pretending to to obey then resist will leave her questioning her the voice command in the future
This genetic memory silliness in Dune isn't even handled correctly in the show. The memories of any individual passed down the gene line would only go up to the point of conmception of the next generation (or at most the point of birth if the epigenome was involved). Therefore the set of memories of any particular ancestor could not include the manner of that ancestor's death (long after they gave birth and passed on their genetic memories) i.e. Dorotea's "spirit"/memories could not "know"/contain the fact that she was killed by Valya. Another stupidity here is the show trying to "embody" these genetic memories into individual "spirits" of all the ancestors, rather than it being just a series of memory dumps from each ancestor from their birth until they conceived a descendant. Even if the viewer's brain is concocting these embodiments, the imagined spirits still could not know facts outside the time between birth and conception of any ancestor.
the blue eye visions is machine, sure, some precient vision but other memory is not timentravel, so nobody is looking/staring back from the future into the past... even if it was the god emperor, it would just be a future vision of him performing the act of looking "back".. no interaction it's not looking back anyway, its going through memory of previous generations. so just like precience, other memory is symbolic..
It's becoming clear that Desmond Hart is NOT a Tleilaxu ghola or face dancer as some people have been predicting, but a dude with superpowers. This to me is highly problematic as it breaks Frank Herbert's seeming rule that all of the amazing abilities that humans develop in the future are feasibly explainable by science. Frank did not dabble in the supernatural at all. Hart's ability however seems to be completely supernatural unless he somehow has some hidden - and forbidden - technology. I really doubt this is the case. How can anyone make a person burn from the inside out when they are lightyears away? If it does turn out to be some kind of mystical (aka magical) power then I will not be following the series.
I’ve heard the theory that there is a spy in the sisterhood that helped him kill Kasha. Possibly that acolyte that seems the the most skeptical of the sisterhood

You sound like a sassy drag queen
If they ever make a movie about Grigori Rasputin, they should get Travis Fimmel to play him. He gives off major Rasputin vives.
Desmond Hart is an early Duncan Idaho. ;)
If Desmond turned out to be just a vengeful AI robot or cyborg I'd be hugely disappointed...

I agree. I'm just intrigued to see how everything they've revealed about him is explained when we do find out. Looking forward to next week!
Who keeps putting the intimate scenes in a show that has nothing that tonally connects to them?

Usually its individuals from certain ethnicity. If you know what i mean.
@@CortexVideos Indeed , totally haram. It felt like they wanted to GameOfthrone it.

I agree, great ep minus the unnecessary protracted sex scene.
IMHO Desmond is the first version of a messiah.

They didn't use the water of life in this episode it was a different poison, they mention the actual name in the episode

eeeexactly
This is a review not a breakdown
Great second episode 🙌🏼🙌🏼
It's not a water of life, but a poison derived from a plant or something
The machines ran an imperium too. . .
the blue eye visions is machine, sure, some precient vision

Wonder if Desmond has survived the Agony. (Yes, yes, lore breaking but the Bene G are unreliable narrators.)
Is this an AI voice? What's with the try hard cadence?
Bouncing booobs.

Just give it time before you pass judgement… we literally just finished the second episode.
Relax. Being disappointed by good ideas is part of the artistic process. Sometimes. Enjoy the event with us. :)
I’ve heard the theory that there is a spy in the sisterhood that helped him kill Kasha. Possibly that acolyte that seems the the most skeptical of the sisterhood
@@DW-bk5nbHey!! I like that theory he has an insider in the sisterhood.
Sad to see they made a cringe soup opera with Dune story
