- Ever wondered what would happen if you put a foreign disc in a macbook pro? I was wondering too, so I decided to try it out... I had to get an external bluray drive though, since the new macbooks don't have disc drives anymore lol.

Blu-ray: The blu-ray drive can play the movies the problem is that mac os does not support blu-ray format so you need to get a video player on mac that supports blu-ray.. VLC Player is free and works...
Windows Games On Mac: So windows cd,s and dvds will read on a mac the problem is that mac os does not use .exe files so there is a software called WINE for mac to run windows games and software right on a mac...
PS2/Xbox/Others: If the disc ends up reading in the blu-ray drive and shows up on the mac then you just need a emulator and point it to the cd to play that game, so for ps2 you need a emulator for ps2 for mac and you will be able to read the games.
Xbox: So when you put a xbox or xbox 360 game into a dvd or blu-ray drive it will load as a video, this is because the disc has two parts first part can be read on any device that can read dvd movies and that video is just a dvd movie

For the PS3 disc, you would also need an emulator called RPCS3 to play the game.
You can technically open the files, if you have the right software. At the end of the day, a console is like a computer, but with specifically format files that needs to be converted to see in others.

On the dreamcast scene, you actually misunderstood. Let me explain. It opened up itunes because of the warning it'll give to you. Track 1 (the song you clicked) was not playing because it is greyed out because it's game data and can cause buzzing. Track 2 wasn't greyed out so you could've played it because it contains a warning that you need to put it in a dreamcast.

on the ps3 disk was a file named "PIC1.PNG"

You need a Blu-Ray player app installed to watch a Blu-Ray video. Apple doesn’t include one cause they never made a Mac with built in Blu-Ray

Put an emulator on the Mac, install the stuff to run disc games (the files to make it work), rip it off the disc and play it
By the looks of things, he could run PlayStation games (all gens) and Dreamcast games straight off the disk on the right emulator!

PS1 u can put a disc in and you use it as a rom for the ePSXe emulator
You can also put in a PS2 disc and use it for the PCSX 2 emulator.

No, what is the answer here is the the macbook only had a dvd drive software so that is why you could not play the blu-ray. So it is not the blu-ray player's problem.

BD's do work you just need VLC media player because that is the program you have to have and use
On the dreamcast one the audio cd was the warning but the had one was a file structure and track 1 was game data and track 2 was the warning

What I meant was those files are supposed to be in the game and that’s what’s describing them and if you remove one of those files it will not work

It obviously doesn't work, the disk is for Windows only.
Mac is not compatible with .exe, don't expect it to work.
Use Bootcamp to switch to windows on your Mac.
You should get a MacBook Pro from 2012 with 13.3 or 15.6 inch but those who still have the old pixelated screen and have a disc drive , should try it out with that
2012 was the last year That Apple made those old bad screen MacBook Pros that still had the disc drive , after 2012 they fully went into MacBook Pro retina

USRDIR is where your user data is, their saves for story mode. UPDAT is where online files are stored and yes its UPDAT.

The files could mess up the disc if you would deleted them because it changes certain stuff in the game

You can delete a file from a disc only if it's rewritable (CD-RW,DVD-RW,BD-RE,...)
@@FrancyRevenger not really, if a cd-r or any -R disc is not finalized/closed, you can just delete the files off of it, but it will not erase the files, but simply update the File system saying that theres nothing other there, but the data is still there.

Weird that your Mac managed to read both partitions on a Dreamcast game, again, that might actually work on an emulator!
Won't you need BluRay playing software on that Mac? I thought it would have been pre-installed or part of QuickTime on a Mac.

If you were to click on those PlayStation files you were afraid to open very likely nothing would happen anyway, given that either your Mac wouldn't be able to read them without special software or that your Mac wouldn't even be able to execute anything because the game files were made for a completely different SoC
