Older comments, but thought I'd respond since I saw a few people questioning how he got the transparent background. All he did was toggle the transparency grid. It was always transparent, but he had it turned off in favor of a placeholder black background. To toggle, look at the buttons to the right of where you set the preview window size and quality (50%/full/etc.) There should be a rectangle with a checkerboard pattern in it. Click that and boom!
Man, thanks for sharing you knowledge with this tutorial. Learned an absolute wealth of information. I'm predominantly a 3D artist, creating smoke simulations and rendering that sort of effect adds some serious time to the process. With what you've demonstrated here, there's no telling how much time will be shaved off the creation process for a project. Huge thanks! heyy I'm stuck with those volumetric lights .. I've downloaded them but I can't opened them with my video player .. it says "This file isn’t playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt" also, can't import to AE as it says "After effects error: Could not read from source. Please check the settings and try again"
