The pros can polish around the pontil marks. It takes a lot more time & effort and will cost you more when purchasing one, but it's a thousand times better than butchering a marble and leaving a clear portion of glass where the pontil once was.
I like the German swirls and the "Benningtons" that they made. Good Benningtons have gotten hot in the last 10 years.

    Thankyou Shane!
A marble collection is one of those things that sounds boring - but it's all about the visual impact... and in this case, the never-to-be-repeated history... as you say, we are all being replaced with machines.
Including those of us who make the machines. I guess that's fair payback 😕
The video quality is excellent - no need to apologize!
Thanks again - from New Zealand (I recognized a few of your marbles from my childhood collection... I would imagine most of the ones we saw here in the 50's/60's were Asian... Hong Kong and Japan probably... but possibly some good American and British marbles made it down here).

I like to shine a strong light

Thanks for the video! I resonantly was cleaning out my mom/dad’s old house as they have recently moved on and found a bag and some jars of my brothers old marbles that he played with as a kid. That would probably be in the early ‘60’s. I’ve since but them in a nice display jar because I just love the colors of them and remind me of him. The types I may have, I don’t have a clue. Didn’t even realize that there was a thing as marble collecting. I shouldn’t have been surprised because just about everything to someone is a collectible. But thanks to your video, maybe I can start to sort out some of what I have by taking a closer look. Thanks so much for your video!
