      Dracknorin Same, here! I was pretty upset when it was removed in Windows XP. (Or did Windows 2000 remove it first?)

    • @Darcknorin
      @Darcknorin 9 років тому +8

      Ben Roberts Nope, it was 98 exclusive. By Windows 2000, Microsoft had switched to DirectX, and the maze was an openGl thing.Though there are a lot of reproductions of it running around online that work with DirectX.

    • @BenM64
      @BenM64 9 років тому +4

      Dracknorin So that's why there's this ghostly "OpenGL" text scattered around the maze…
      Does your explanation mean that Windows 2000 onwards…isn't compatible with OpenGL anymore?

    • @Darcknorin
      @Darcknorin 9 років тому +3

      Ben Roberts Not exactly, a lot of programs use it. But the main one used by windows is DirectX. That's why so many games make you update your directx drivers, as opposed to anything else.

    It always follows the left-side wall. When it turns upside down, it follows the right side wall (which is the same as the original left-side wall). It's tough to notice because it only rotates to the left, even when making a right turn. This is a standard maze-solving technique (for certain kinds of mazes). This maze doesn't seem to have an exit though...

    • @BenM64
      @BenM64 9 років тому +14

      Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨Ʒ I thought it did have an exit… When it reached it, it would just flatten the maze and start a new one. Nothing special, really…

    this is beautiful. Never realized Windows 98 had it all figured out. This labyrinth is what we call life. You keep searching for an exit, face many dead ends, it can turn upside down, you will face your deepest fears and walk through them all. And when you find happiness, the maze disappears. All the walls that were keeping you in the game simply vanish.

    Could be nostalgia, but I find this screensaver so meditative. It's so peaceful, and seeing it after all these years feels like a warm hug from an old friend. I miss being able to be entertained by just these old screensavers

    I remember the PCs and Internet 20 years ago, nowadays we would probably want to destroy immediately those slow and unriable machines, while now we get angry when an application freezes during 10s. But I feel nostalgy when I see such things (as the old screensavers) that, in a certain way, remember me my childhood :-D

    1. Never try to escape
    2. Be always calm, don't show any signs of anxiety
    3. Do not search for others, do not ask for anyone
    4. Stay as close to your entrance as possible
    5. Never directly stare at any source of light
    6. Should you lose your senses, do anything to regain them, even if it means cutting off a part of your body
    7. Always check if the time is what you remember it to be
    8. Do not touch a wall that seems darker than the one next to it
    9. Should you come across another human being, do not make any contact, and move away from each other as fast as possible
    10. Count seconds, and after every 500 remember who you are and where you came from
    11. Is the most important: sit down and do not look at the sounds when you hear them
