- A lot of you have reached out and asked how you could see more of the speech I made with for the Rotary Club in Paducah. Here’s an 8-minute version (there are some edits where I took out explaining what a crunchy mom is, the joke about Rotary phones that you may have already seen, etc…)
I hope you enjoy this small glimpse into how everything started for us.

I used to be a "crunchy mom". I often wondered if you are a "true" crunchy mom in real life, because you know the lingo. You remind me of how I used to be back when my children were little and I hung around the crunchy crowd. Now I am more relaxed in my approach with life, and my kids are teens now and no worse for the wear. I adore you and your videos! You guys are amazing.
I thought I was crunchy until I joined crunchy groups. I couldn't do it. They were so judgy and fearful of every little thing. Not to mention the hypocrisy. I definitely lean more natural, but I'm just not an all or nothing gal. Everything in moderation. And I'm glad to have a background in science so I can read and understand the scientific studies myself. Not to mention an understanding of statistics and how it can and has been skewed both ways.
I think one of the secrets of "crunchy" parenting is that it's unsustainable in the long-run. You just run out of energy at a certain point. Also - as your kids age, you don't have the same control over them you did when they were 5.
I think she’s mindful and educated but not fearful just does what she feels she can do. Which is how I am. I know how to feed my kids healthy foods and know natural remedies etc to help them but I buy chips and cereal and pizza once in a while
@@YasuTaniina the fear is worse than anything they could put in their Bodies I know someone who can’t even breathe the air in her own home without her air purifier she won’t go to anyones house she’s so afraid of germs and can barely function. No trust that our bodies were made to function and can clean themselves a bit 😅

We all survived in our own way, and taught all 4 at home for 22 years.
Now a ‘retired’ teacher of my kids, I look back and can say I did OK😉
For people really paying attention, this didn't just "happen" for your guys. You had the foundation build from 15 years of grinding, and it paid off. I am really happy for you!!!

Emily and Jason 3 years ago I suffered a head injury, which caused a stroke. I was relatively young. Approx 100 days each in 3 hospitals in ICU I learned ANYONE AT ANY AGE can have a stroke. 😢 channels like yours that make me laugh out loud are a precious blessing😂 Truly I thank you😊
That compost bin/casserole dig was so good haha. It was fun to hear the backstory of your videos, it's inspiring to see how things can grow and change for better in ways we wouldn't expect
I am a silky mom, but I love this channel. Emily and Jason are charming and funny. The crunchy life is so not for me, but it does not seem miserable to me.

Hello from the UK! I didn't even know what a 'crunchy Mum' was, but whatever it was, you made me laugh, and I carried on watching. I even know what a 'silky Mum' (ok..."mOm") is now. I always thought you two seemed very comfortable in front of a camera, so this explains why. Good luck with the book deals and whatever else comes next!
Indeed. I'm from a fairly 'crunchy' area of Devon and Cornwall in the UK also and enjoying learning all about Crunchy Mum's from the vids. I actually thought Emily had trained in acting because she's so natural at acting. I also love her voice tone and find her voice incredibly soothing. Best wishes ❤️

Hey Emily! I only just recently discovered your channel and am absolutely LOVING it! It is my go-to to unwind, relax, and get a few chuckles in. Some of the videos you have shared have me looking back and realizing I was crunchy before I even knew about making better choices for our family. I connect with these videos so much and even realize I have a ways to go on the crunchy scale. I have to share that my daughter even get a laugh out of your videos and just asked me yesterday to put your channel on while we washed the dishes. Our favorites are the “bewb” videos because that was us with long term and exclusively breastfeeding. SO glad we came across your channel and we are thoroughly enjoying your content. I loved hearing your story, and love your channel! So far, my favorites are the Basketcase parody, and the raw milk from a van skit. I am 75/25 crunchy/silky. I live on a farm where I hand milk my goats, sell raw milk 🤫, grow my own herbs, and grow and make my own (in my husband's words) snake oils and remedies. Because of all of this, I felt that raw milk video in my soul!

@@sarahrosen4985 well, it is honestly all I know. I come from two very long lines of farmers and ranchers, and even grew up 35 miles from a gas station, in the house that my great grandparents built in 1915. My husband also comes from a long line of ranchers. As far as my silky side, I definitely don't stress over the toxins in all of the every day things, lol. There is pretty much no way to avoid them, and I am too cheap to spend extra money on "natural" things like beeswax crayons, etc. While we grow or raise nearly everything we eat, I am never going to look down in a chemical laden treat that tastes good, lol.
You guys are amazing! I've been following your journey on UA-cam for about a year now and I've loved every minute of it. You guys deserve every bit of your success and I can not wait to see what else you'll continue on to do. P.S. - And I also really loved the mystery you provided earlier on, trying to figure out just how crunchy you really were. ; )
Do we know the answer now? How crunchy she is really?
She's definitely pretty crunchy, but a lot of the more incredibly obsessive stuff seems to be satire poking fun at crunchiness. I think a lot of the videos are also based somewhat in reality but then over-exaggerated. And it's very clear that while she has her preferences on how to do things, she's still very kind and respectful towards those with different beliefs.

We are in Louisville, KY, and like you, I discovered a niche on UA-cam that took off unexpectedly (I share Pediatric Speech Therapy tips for parents of young children to help them grow up to be excellent communicators). It has allowed me to be able to stay home full time with my 2 sons (2 and 4 years old) and I earn more than I did working full time as a salaried Speech Therapist 🤯. I love the opportunities I’ve gained through a combo of UA-cam and my online classes. Keep up the awesome work! My mom and I are constantly sharing your videos with each other and cracking up. My husband and I lived in South Korea for a while, too. It was so fun checking out your old channel and reminiscing about our time there. As a matter of fact, Korea is where I first heard the term "crunchy"--a fellow expat asked me when we first arrived how crunchy I was, and I had no idea what she meant. 😂 Now we are back in the states homesteading and being way more crunchy than we ever imagined, and loving it.

I have a lot of family ties to Kentucky and Paducah. I think that part of your speech made me the happiest. I’ve lived in Georgia my whole life and just recently had the pleasure of visiting Kentucky for the first time last month. It was a lot of fun and my husband and I plan on visiting again really soon. I might keep an eye out for the crunchy family lol

Neither one of us have cared about being “stars” so much as we’ve always wanted to work for ourselves in a creative way.
At 67, I’m a lifelong crunchy Mom. My daughter is following in my footsteps, and with time, I hope my granddaughter does as well.
