Sure brings back memories of my pin jumper days. Used to clear jams, reset pins and clean machines at end of night. Changed a lot of belts, scissors, springs and hated removing shaker boards!! Early 1970’s. Well done video!
I had the night from hell tonight! The long turret belt shredded and was stuck under the turret drive pulley. 2 lanes over went down for no apparent reason and at the far end, the boss put new cross conveyer belts on and the pins wouldn't go up the conveyer, slippery! The one turned out to be a blackout with no apparent cause. I thought that the motor overheated. I reset the 2 circuit breakers on the machine. Last resort I started to perform the blackout procedure and there was no reason for it but, that's what it was. Answering calls for 32 lanes and trying to dislodge the remainder of the turret drive belt took way too long! All is repaired and running after 2 sweaty hours!
Only thing I noticed different were shaker mounts. We call them “piers” at my house, not sure what the manual states. Great video though, very informative for beginners.
Too bad I got old because I loved working on these. One center I worked #27 & 28 were made by Otis Elevator and they were the best running and husky compared to the newer ones with the scotch yoke.
A-2 mechanic of 25 years before moving on to better things... this sure brought back a lot of memories. First time I've seen the spinning ball eliminator. I sure as heck could have used them the night the lane guy over oiled the lanes... ball returns call all over the house during league play. I could have killed his ass, the house I worked at was 2 levels, 26 lanes each floor, got quite the work out going up/down those stairs to clear the ball returns.
As mentioned in other comments, I always called them deck chutes and not buckets. Also the rake crank rod I called the rake sweep link, no biggies rly easy to tell what was being mentioned
Always good to hear all terms. Like in Texas you get a Coke. No matter what it is it’s a Coke. Up north ? Get a pop (pahp) Other areas you ask for a soda (sew-dah). Deck chutes. Buckets. I know there’s lots more terms for stuff
@@GarageBowlingAlley Indeed! For the most part what you called everything was very close if not exact to what I called things. I did forget the gear tho that indexes the turret after the 5 drops in, we call it the time delay gear, giving enough time for the pins to drop before it indexes after the 5 pin
@@GarageBowlingAlley so what do you call the thing the 5 pin goes into on the turret, a 5-pin chute? then it falls in the 5-pin bucket (5-pin deck chute). lol
The spinning ball eliminator is the first generation, the second generation has a roller on the horizontal piece the ball contacts which lets the ball under it easier you might look into getting one. Food for thought
I think we need something else. That one I have doesn’t seem to help much and we keep getting balls in the pinwheel. And yes the lift rods are all the way down too. Have a pic of the other one ?
So many parts involved to get a full set of 10 pins. Thank You Rob.

So over-engineered. I love it.

Boss should know better. Always test after working on a machine.

We try to help. Never heard them called piers before but there’s lots of terns for things. I’d love to hear them all 😎🎳

KNOWLEDGE 😄
The machine is so interesting. Used to help with maintenance. Sometimes would just sit back there and watch those Straight As do their thing.
It's a mechanical symphony ! An amazing invention back before computers when people say down at a table and created things from scratch.
buckets are also called "Deck Chutes"
WOW...I haven't seen a moveable snubber in over 30 years
Nice overview. Thanks!
worked on these for 11 years from my teens to 20's great job worked front counter too but preferred the backend

How does the masking unit know if its first ball or 2nd ball also what does the masking unit do and prevent?
Detector replacement on Brunswick pinsetter @garage bowling alley
Did you get my Texas 9pin bowling video
Yes I did. I responded earlier
@@GarageBowlingAlley sorry
