  • In Zoroastrian theology, the creator of existence, Ahura Mazda, is understood as having seven aspects which make up its person. These aspects, the Amesha Spentas, give one an in-depth system in perfecting reality and emulating the creator.

    A couple corrections mainly on my points about the language:
    1: mazdā isn’t feminine, it merely declines like a feminine noun due to a later linguistic development (that being it was originally a consonant declining noun off of a glottal stop which disappeared during the recitational history).
    2: I was clearly wrong about claiming Helmut Humbach connecting it to arta-man-ti. He connected it to aram-man-ti “proper, correct mind, etc”. My points on the philosophy are still correct, but it does not mean “a mind order by arta” or “a mind properly set”. Aram means proper, correct, etc so that it closer to the meaning.
    3: I say Professor Schwartz’ meaning doesn’t fit every usage, but that’s not entirely true. His understanding of the word is a bit more versatile than I led on here.

      @@amenoko6070 the religion of “Islam” as I like to be call it “brand Islam” has really nothing in common with the Islam of the quran. Their religion has been adulterates by inventions and new doctrines such as ‘Sunnah’ and ‘Hadith’ that were most likely crafted to manipulate Islam into something that would enslave the masses and create a dormant Muslim community under a leadership. This is why hadithens call anyone who criticises even the most corrupt rulers, because according to them the Prophet said not to rebel against the leaders even if they take all your wealth as beat you up and have hearts of Satan. This was obviously crafted up by the early “Muslim” dynasties - possibly the ummayads during the great fitnah and schism that succeeded Muhammed’s death.
      The Muhammed of the Quran is someone who knows nothing in doctrine except what was revealed to Him by His Lord (I.e. the Quran). The Muhammed of the Hadith however is someone who apparently knew everything that there is to come. These Hadiths are really shirk, because it idolises Muhammed to the status of God himself. So really, a Christian who tries to uphold the Torah (I.e the words of God) is far better than the majority of Muslims today. However the majority of Christians are also stuck in this loophole of taking other scriptures written by men and claim that its from God (just like these hadithens with no proof of what God sent down) such as the writings of Paul and what he projected unto the Gospel of John, and deify the Messiah son of Mary, which is also shirk (ascribing partnership). You don’t have to believe me, but if you want to learn more than first of all, I invite you to read the Quran on ‘Quranite’. And check out Sam Gerr*ns work on brutally dissecting the Quran and comparing it with Islamic religions. Other Christians and Qaraite Jews have done this with their own scripture too and compared it to their man made religions.

    I was revealed this philosophy through my own observations of existence. This video (and the teaching of Zoroastrianism itself) has greatly consolidated my fears of being alone in my observations. Thank you for maintaining your role in the perfection of our goodness. The unfolding of the inevitable goodness is more beautiful every day. The kingdom of heaven (just my preferred imagery of the perfect order of things) has always been imminently almost present here in this universe. We will do the will of goodness, and I have faith in the trueness of our love. God is good. And fundamentally, we are good. We have slain darkness through the thirst for true wisdom. And so by it’s own self conception, wisdom has already won. All we do is lovingly let the light of wisdom’s goodness unfold.

    It’s so fascinating to deep dive to Mazdayasna, as a Finnish guy, I was surprised to find out many of the simple words found in Finnic language are Iranian in Origin!
    Example:
    taivas “sky” from Indo iranian Deva
    Vasara “hammer” from Vazra/Vajra, Ukonvasara is also magical thunder weapon of the Sky God Ukko, just as Lord Indra wields Vajra and Mithra the Vazra if i’m not mistaken
    Jumala: “God” From proto finnic juma from an Indo Iranian root (Sanskrit: dyumān “heavenly/celestial/shining)
    In Eastern Finnic languages (Volga Finnic) there is the term “azor” (lord, ruler) same root as Ahura and Asura
    Finnish ritual Peijas (sacrifice and veneration of the bear) is from Indo Iranian Pahiyas (libation)
    It makes me think what kind of religious influences these people had on our ancestors and so much was lost… Thanks for the great video
    from 🇫🇮🇫🇮
    Edit: There are also theories that the Finnic Komi people in Russia used the Avestan script as their word for book “nebög” comes from Middle Persian npyk “document”

      I find this interesting as Finnish is a Uralic language, not Indo-European, and either had to have given those to PIE or otherwise adopted them. I have spent the last year and a half deeply studying the Gathas of Zarathushtra and their language so I find this sort of stuff interesting. Although my knowledge is mostly limited to Avestan and a smidgin at best of Sanskrit.

When people are analyzing new religions or methods of thinking, they usually give so much emphasis on the comparisons by which they understand that content that the content itself gets distorted and ends up just sounding like something you already know. Really insightful explanation of Zoroastrianism. I am a Hindu but want to understand this better, I’ve always been curious for a number of reasons. I love your explanations. One comment not to be taken seriously n a negative light is that the Sanskrit words actually do maintain all their original meaning with words usually having multiple meanings depending on context. Manyu for example can still mean vigour or spirited also anger depending on context. As such a name like Abhimanyu translates to mean heroic, or person with self respect. I will definitely ponder these concepts more and contemplate on how the Zoroastrian model could be a functional fit for human society. I love how it actually puts it to each individual human to strive towards goodness. We cannot simply be saved by a swift intervention of faith or a quick conversion. I wonder how it plays out in society once in place. But I love the ideas presented and I want to learn more about the cosmological view and machinations from a Zoroastrian perspective.

    • @ashemvidam
      @ashemvidam  9 місяців тому +2

      My next video, when I get around to recording, while cover cosmology a bit better. Very interesting about the word manyu in Sanskrit. The Avestan Mainyu only has the ‘i’ due to epenthesis, so in actuality it is the same word. Still, its use at the time of Zarathushtra was a bit broader than in classical Sanskrit (at least), but after his coining the term to refer to the two forces of potentiality, the term changed meaning. In the later Avesta, manyu/mainyu is used to refer the “spiritual” realm( realm of potentiality), and the two primal forces.

      Zoroastrianism is the most important religion of all time. Apart from laying the foundations of Iran's culture, it likely is the basis for the key tenets of Christianity, Judaism and others too. Heaven and hell, good and evil = Zoroastrian concepts. 12 angels of Zoroastrianism = 12 disciples and Twelver Shia Islam. Jesus = Mithra. Truth hurts.

      Any sentient being being can see Christianity ripped off the Zorostrian concepts of heaven and hell, the afterlife, the 12 angels, and basically used Mithra as the template for Jesus. You think it's a coincidence that below every church in Italy there is a Mithraeum? Zoroastrianism is, by a colossal margin, the most important religion of all time. @@WyrdAl First off, no report of this story on the internet cited or referenced a primary source. Can you tell me what text this account is from?
      Secondly, I found an alleged story where Ahriman offered Zarathustra wealth to join him. If that’s all, I am extremely underwhelmed and *wholly* unimpressed with the comparison. An attempted corruption by the devil is so basic a theme I would expect to find it in any Good vs Evil story. And that’s something Zoroastrianism and Christianity have in common. And Ahriman offered him wealth? Very basic. I’m not attacking Zoroastrianism here. I’m just saying, this seems like a *feeble* argument that Jesus was based off Zoroaster.
      If you can show some overlap of details I might be interested. But I would say that one of the biggest problems with the “Jesus is based on Zoroaster” hypothesis is that Jesus was a real historical person attested by actual historians and the details of his life were recorded in sources contemporary to Jesus’s life.
      Jesus mythicism has no scholarly adherents. It’s a debunked hypothesis. A hypothesis that I find more interesting and more probable is the possibility that Zoroaster had an actual encounter with the God of the Bible and that therefore Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and Christianity might all be sister religions.

If you are acting with fidelity, you will attract other people without having to force anything on anybody. Just BE the change. Read the literature that is available to verify things for yourself. When I started reading the Quran for gudiance, I found so many references calling me to use my God-given intellect to reason, to use the senses God has blessed me with to recognise Him through His signs engrained in reality, this faculty is inherently GOOD but Bātil is afraid of this as it opens the door for realisation of Haqq..

    Amesha spentas can have a deeper felt understanding and reality if looked at through a self- realisation insight as emphasised as the only true understanding in Adventa Vedanta and/or Mahayana Buddhism. Using our intellectual understanding of physical sciences to interpret these ancient expressions of Zarathustra’s awakening can be as ‘dualistic’ as the (admirably survived) orthodox Zoroastrianism (which has rightly or wrongly been accused of)
    Thankfully the still living non-dual traditions of India if fully understood can help as Sanskrit did with the translation of Gathas.

    Peace brother, looking back at Zoroaster he strikes an undeniable resemblance to the messengers and prophets before him and after him. Calling people to the servitude of one God, the One True God who is the Lord of Wisdom. Telling them to follow and realise Haqq (which is engrained in reality) and to reject Bātil (which has no basis in reality). He was rejected and outcasted by his people like most of the other Prophets, but at the end he was successful and his people weren’t not destroyed.. over the years however long after his death a retardation revived into idolatry, people not understanding the symbolisms made them into seperate distinct gods rather than manifestations of the One True God, they started not reasoning and believing all sorts of superstitions, some even went as far to call the fire divine and a god in essence and hence to let it go out is to vanish the gods’ presence. We see this too with modern day Islam, the majority of so called ‘Muslims’ exalting the last prophet as infallible that cannot make any mistakes (which is inherently unhuman and agaianst the message of the Quran) and they took narrations attributed to him during politically charged times after his death and beyond to not only be on par with the words of God, but also that the words of God referenced the in the Quran aren’t the real wisdom (as they are called hikmah) but actually the tradition of a mere mortal is the real wisdom and so is direct revelation! We see that with all religions that the religion OF the messenger becomes the religion ABOUT the messenger.. this time I thank the Lord of Wisdom for not leaving us astray and divinely preserving his book for us. Huxtanam Ahura Mazda!

    Entropy.
    I very much look forward to hearing (or discussing) your inter-pretation of entropy, asa, druj. The laws of thermodynamics seem to fit elegantly within Zoroastrian cosmology, and vice versa. If both are ultimately true, then naturally they must describe the same reality. But it is not clear to me how the terms would translate 1-1. At first glance, both entroy and druj would seem to be the original tendency, the darkness, from which asa and/or mazda emerges. The laws of thermodynamics would suggest that druj always wins in the end, but of course, that's only an assumption localised to the observed universe. Is there a philosophical conflict of scope or inheritance? Does Zarasthustra claim that Mazda create(s/d) druj? Did he assert that druj will be eliminated or only that asa will be internally perfect within itself? It appears demonstrably true that a star, a waterfall, all life is creative destruction, violent beauty. Flowers emerge from tiny seeds from ash and dust.
    I would like to suggest that druj=entropy (exactly) and that asa is the organising creative force that counters entropy, including stars, fire, life, rivers, etc, and druj counters asa. Mazda, I would propose, is the intentional wisdom perfecting asa, the life that creates and preserves life, the star that creates and preserves more light. Maybe we can create a perpetual clock and an engine that produces more energy than input, life without death. It's a beautiful thought.

    • @familyshare3724
      @familyshare3724 Рік тому +1

      Perhaps another semantic interpretation/correspondence is that Asa includes all of the universe, its laws, everything, including entropy. Mazda is the creative force countering entropy. I expect any interpretation must not introduce contradictions, such as plague the Abrahamic faiths (classically: an all perfect, all good, all powerful creator of evil). Similarly, does mazda create druj. Is druj included in asa? Do asa or mazda depend upon druj?

    • @ashemvidam
      @ashemvidam  Рік тому +2

      I posted a great video by a physicist on my community page that explains what I was meaning by entropy. But in short, entropy is sorely misunderstood by the average educated person. I sadly don't have the mental energy at this time to go into detail on that, but entropy doesn't lead to ultimate degradation. Entropy is only the measure of the number of microstates within a macrostate, that is, how many smaller systems exist inside a larger one. This eventually leads to the overall system requiring more and more energy to exist, and it collapses. But what is left over is at a higher state of complexity than before the system began to exist. Repeat this over and over again, and the universe begins to evolve forward due to this cycle of destruction and rebuilding. Perhaps than entropy is Asha in effect, but hampered by druj, hence the cycle.
      Druj, and Aka/Angra Mainyu, exist not by the act or allowance of Mazda, because Asha was not fully realized in reality on the exact moment of creation. As Asha was only fully realized within itself, the parts of reality that chose to follow it or not could be effected by the "unpotentiality" of it: Druj. Here are a few stanzas I recently translated that could help
      43.16
      Now, Lord, Zarathushtra, himself, chooses
      That mental-force, Wisdom, which is Yours and truly is progressive
      May Asha be incarnate, strong with breath,
      May Right-mindedness reside in that rule as radiant as the sun,
      She grants, through actions, the reward through good thinking
      44.14
      This I ask You, tell me honestly, Lord
      How, for Asha’s sake, would I place Druj into its hands
      In order to purify (deeply clean) it by the manthras of Your teaching
      In order to place a mighty collapse among the unethical
      In order to carry *afflictions and *harms unto them, Wisdom,
      *uncertain
      Ushta te friend, continue your desire for Truth. I much appreciate your wording and your view of Mazda, which feels much more accurate than the Abrahamic God.

      @@ashemvidam thank you for your reply. I think your summary of entropy as the sum of all possible states is accurate. And there are vastly more unorganized states than potentially useful states. It's easier to make a bomb than harness energy and vastly easier to make a dud. Though, I do suspect there is an intersection of extremes 0, 1, and Infinity. I wonder if you subscribe to "black hole cosmology" - that our observed universe since the big bang is a white hole, the exact mathematical opposite of a singularity, a black hole as observed from within.

    Ahura Mazda, Mazda is the name of God and Ahura its attribute. Ahura as an attribute of God is shared by human, every man or woman by attainment of the Divine attributes, Truth, Wisdom, Inner strength and Love can achieve evolution and become God-like and immortal. At this point one can be called Ahura. So, Ahura in plural (30-9, 31-4) can reflect the perfect humans (Jafarey, who translates it to the wise men) or the Divine attributes (Humbach). It is interesting that in the contemporary Farsi, Ahura is used as an attribute, as some nationalists call Iran, the Ahurai land.
    Ahura linguistically is masculine and Mazda is of feminine gender. By the rule of Avestan language, when the two genders are combined, the masculine proverb has to be used, but Zarathushtra often referring to Ahura Mazda uses the neuter proverb (Jafarey).

    Perhaps it is this particular video that you assumed I had not watched yet when your mind gave rise to the previous label of being ignorant. In that case, you would be correct. I had not seen this one and it does get into the some of the more nuanced aspects of the conceptualized ethical and cosmic dualities used to approach the non-dual/monotheistic realization. Additionally, the previous adherents I spoke with were generally just more conversant in their approach, so the depth of which you covered these conceptualizations were not apparent. That is common, as most everyone approaches their religion from the mindset with which they are interacting in the world. Furthermore, a majority of the literature I had read (dense and often disjointed) tended toward the dualistic aspects of the beliefs and practices, which is not uncommon in religio-socio studies. That said, this mind may not be as ignorant as your mind thought or assumed it to be, and it was unwise to believe and act on the mind's narrowly defined perception in that context. It creates perturbations in the mind's ability to SEE clearly, which can bring about (and/or are indicative of) imbalances and deviations from the realization. Otherwise, I think you do a great job on providing these well-articulated, in-depth videos on the amazing religio-philosophical tradition known as Zoroastrianism. As such, they not only begin to go down rabbit holes, but they also guide the reader into them, which is how one begins to resolve one's own clarity (VERY important). Indeed, there is much room for misunderstanding even by the scribes via which ancient texts have been handed down through the millenia, not to mention the fact that there are often agendas in making such alterations. There are any number of rabbit holes on a true journey into one's true heart. It is what it is. I sense there is a wonderful opportunity to use and distill the wisdom, clarity and resourcefulness of Zoroastrianism in that journey.
