Wow 5 out of ten for our first published module. Thanks for this rating! I think you will even be impressed by our upcoming Assault Sicily 43 Gela Beachhead which will be available in 2024.
Looking forward to Sicily 43. Thanks!
Interesting list, thanks. I have played SPI's 1976 'War in the East'. Though they are too heavy really, I am still keen to get 'Jaws of Victory' and 'Stalingrad '42' to the table. I have a better chance with 'Race to Moscow' (definately the most original of your list). Avalon Hill 'Squad Leader' still shines.
Thanks. Sounds like some fun games there.
Lots of choices for tactical games; I particularly have fun with Nations at War - love the feelings of roll-to-hit and roll-to-save.
Sounds like fun.
Great list Cody. I was a little surprised not to see one of: Conflict of Heroes Awakening The Bear, Old School Tactical Vol 1, or Heroes of The Bitter Harvest on there somewhere. Still, a great mix of the new and the old, hex and counter, and "other". :)
Yeah, I haven't played them. Thanks!
Conflict of Heroes is outstanding! Worth your time Cody!
@@CreativeCitiesProd Thanks!
Good list, but once again I find myself having to explain to my gf what all these new packages are.
Me: "They are historical simulations of the greatest conflict in human history. "
Her: "Oh fuck off, it's got zombies in it. "
Ha! Keep fighting the good fight.
LMAO! Well played that woman!
Best advantage of being single, no wife or girlfriend (wish I had one-lol), no body gives me verbal heartache when packages come in. My one adult daughter sometimes gives me some verbal trash but I just tell her this is a game I pre-ordered 6 to 9 months ago so it's already paid for...
Got Schutztruppe (Compass) & Invasion Malta (Legion) coming in very real soon.
Somehow I became unsubscribed so I resubscribed. 👍👍
You certainly had a solid list, I’m just surprised you left Memoir ‘44 Eastern Front off the list, at very least it would have been either at my 9 or 10 spot.
I haven't played the Eastern Front expansion for Memoir '44. Maybe someday.
I think it’s a great expansion.
Snipers, minefields, Ski Troops, winter terrain, Soviet Commisar.
(Stalingrad) Red Barricades Factory Complex is one of the best Memoir ‘44 standard scenarios of all time.
Definitely worth checking out.
Memoir’s Sword of Stalingrad Battlemap expansion is also great. Has a standard scenario based on Pavlov’s house as well. Comes with Urban Combat cards.
@@mrp4242 Sounds like fun. Does it have scenarios for Overlord?
If you lived in the DFW area I would totally meet up and ensure that when you did some of these reviews, you could proudly say you played them two player
Thanks. I left DFW in 2020. Still miss it.
Freezing Inferno is soon good. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I was holding out for Red Winter but Freezing Inferno didn't disappoint! What a fun game.
Indeed. Thanks.
Soon but not yet?
I enjoyed your list. We have two cross overs, The Russian Campaign and Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga. Both great games. I played a lot of hex and counter Eastern front games growing up, starting with Panzer Leader and then Squad Leader, and also Drang Nach Osten. Two memorable games for me came from SPI: Panzergrupoe Guderian (where the Russian units were unknown till combat); and The Winter War (USSR vs Finland). Cheers.
Thanks! I appreciate your feedback.
As usual: great list. I just realised that with exception of Assault Red Horizon and both games from mr. Thompson I don't have many East front games... Interesting!
Time to get more?
I just want say some of mine favs, Your list is newer games so I understand. But I would say you have a good list Russian Campaign I bought the 1st ed at Avalon Hill in Baltimore. At the time I was there there were playing Battlelines Submarine. At the time I didn't know it. I think one of the guys was Don Greenwood and I think they were working it because they had purchased it from Battleline for there version. But the games I like The Columbia's East Front, AH''s Turrning Point Stalingrad, ASL's Red Barricades and No Retreat: Russian Front.
Sounds like some good stuff there. Thanks.
Thx again for a unique list. You got me interested on a easy 2 player game: Iron, Blood, Snow & Mud.
Yeah, IBS&M is great. Thanks.
Fun list! I have the old AH Russian Campaign, on my bucket list to get to the table! Love your videos, definitely going to try your history site soon!
Thanks a ton!
My favorites are EastFront 2 from Columbia Game,
Streets of Stalingrad by L2 Design
Turning point Stalingrad by Avalon Hill
Red Barricade for Advance Squad Leader also bt Avalon Hill
And Panzerguppe Guderian by SPI
I heard good things about Storm Over Stalingrad but have not played it yet.
Sound like some fun games. Thanks!
I just got my first GMT game ("Bayonets & Tomahawks") this week through GMT's P500 program. I'm very impressed. Based on this video, I added the Russian Campaign Deluxe 5th Edition to my P500 list. I also added the Russian Campaign Mounted Maps since it seems that the maps in the core game are just paper maps. I'm hoping you can maybe confirm that one way or the other.
Mine is a paper map.
very cool video, on the fence for race to the Rine and Russian campaign game
Race for the Rhine is the better game, IMHO. But they are both a lot of fun.
I love your list and your videos in general. This one was worth waiting till then end.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
My son came to the end of his 4th year in college, but he didn’t want to go to the ceremony or receive his diploma as he likes to procrastinate?!
He was a Stalin-Grad 😅
Fantastic!
Interesting list - very glad to see The Russian Campaign still doing it
Good game.
Great list! Two more I like are No Retreat! and Storm Over Stalingrad. Haven’t played Undaunted, but Stalingrad looks interesting.
Thanks for the suggestions.
My 2 favourite EF games did not make it to the list. Like a few of the comments, Columbia Games Eastfront II is my favourite. Clean, easy with loads of depth. Heroes of Stalingrad is my favourite tactical. Again, easy to get into, clean and simple. Like a few others, I am interested in Quartermaster General Eastfront. Hope you get to play that one soon so you can do a review. I would be interested in your comments on that. Glad you had Scope in there. All 3 Scope games are good fun.
Thanks!
Great list, thanks
Thank you!
Everytime I watch one of your vids, I wind up buying the game or one of the games your are highlighting! It's dangerous to my bank account to watch your vids! Lol 😄
Danger is my middle name. Sometimes I wish it were Bill or George or Louis. You know, something normal.

😄
Great list sir.
Thank you.
Hey Cody, you really need to try Quartermaster General: East Front. I am surprised it is not on your list. I would put it at the top. Also, Heroes of Stalingrad from Devil Pig Games.
Yeah, I've only played QG1914. Maybe someday.
As a solo gamer, Enemy Action: Kharkov would easily be my #1
Thanks.
Dr. Cody, have you played Quartermaster General: East Front? I was hoping that this game would make your list.
No. The only Quartermaster game I’ve played is 1914.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Thanks for your reply. I hope that you get a chance to play the East Front game--I'd be curious to hear your review.
Indeed! Was about to mention the same thing. QMG East Front is a great fun game!
Good list , tons of choices, , , , ☕☕
Thanks!
Thanks for the great list. I can hear my wallet crying now.
Ha! Happy to help!
No War Stories?
Haven’t played it.
Best Russian Front game bar none is Russia Besieged. Just ignore the Sudden Death VC. It makes these other games look sic.
Thanks for the suggestion.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer You wished I hadn't of commented! You said you teach a class on WW2?...Nice. I 'm surprised the woke gen cares about that...
I gave a speech on Napoleon at Waterloo in my Speech Class in college and the young people were genuinely interested.
@@Phalanx11 I gave a speech on Napoleon at Waterloo in my Speech Class in college years ago. Great minds.
I wanted to suggest you try Russia Besieged also, kind of an up-graded Russian Campaign.
ahhhh... Number 10 is a game I played about a year and 1/2 ago. Just tell us what number 10 is, and then get to the commentary.
But the anticipation!!!!
Not first nor last but i swear i cliked fast.
Looks like i was first
Indeed.
Post WW2 end credits 😂
Glad you liked it.
The Undaunted series has brought a lot of women into the hobby.
It's a great game.
