Now the surface planer is something I have seen used before. For the exact reason you brought up. Although I recall the guy had his set on between medium and shallow on the settings.
I'm still playing with the depth on this one, using it on some old tires first
I duct taped a vacuum hose on the outlet and kept it from clogging up 😎👍🏻🏁
Use a 7" sand paper disc on your HF polisher 16-36 grit my guy. Beats the life out of that Gold disc. Covers more width per cycle
Baby powder your tires before grinding. Takes away the gumming up that we face sometimes, especially the softer tires
Very cool! Siping and grooving vids next?
I dont know if I'm qualified for that, I might need the tire guy to do it... oh wait.

Im thinking Crew Man Derek is goin to apricated the Planer
Heck yeah! I gotta get up there to try that thing out!
Every time I see tires being ground down, im always thinking there must be some way to hook a shopvac or something to help keep it cleaner…
for sure, that would be a faster cleanup
Why is the grinding of tires do for you ,and i and not spending 110 dollars 💵 on new tires for my IMCA and then grinding them off or get rid of tread depth , if I race any more I will be on pavement, and the pavement will grind off the tire# on its own , lol nice thanks buddy BigAl California
I think you'll enjoy pavement racing
Tire prep take a lot of time if any has done there tire prep they know how much it takes, but with the tire shortage and the price of tires these days I'll stick to the grinding method for now.
Is there still a tire shortage?

M30 are very hard to come by.
And pricey !
To help everyone out they should make it a run that u cant touch the tire no wrapping no nothing save some time
I agree completely. It used to be that the tire prep closed the gap between new and used tires... but anymore I think it just adds a ton of work.
