New project bike - 1997 Suzuki Bandit 600

- I got a message from a mate at work saying that he had to sell his bike and would I be interested. On seeing the bike I really couldn't say no for the money. It needs a bit of fettling to get it through an mot, but with minimal work I'll have a daily rider again and a project bike for the future that actually works to start off with.

Looks like a great deal. My brother had one as his first big bike in the early 2000s and he still raves on about it now.
Really pleased with it 👍
You have to love a bandit, wishing you and your family happy new year, hope your channel goes from strength to strength in 2020,
Thank you Ian, and all the best for 2020 mate 👍
Oh yes. On the road for the summer, who could ask for more. Happy new year to you and your family.
Happy New Year Michael 👍
Greetings from Florida
Excited to see what you are going to do with this one

Ride safe

Well done Quickie, off to a good start for the year. All the best.. 🙂🙂🤗
Thank you matey, hopefully it continues throughout the year hey 👍😂
Wishing you the best for 2020!
Happy New Year, I hope its a blinding 2020 for you 👍
Bargain wish I could find one that cheap love the videos great content keep up the great work
Thank you Andrew, just right place right time I guess 👍
Got one a 2000/01 similar mileage, use it every day, just had a manual camchain tensioner fitted, enjoy. Happy new year :)
I'm looking forward to getting a bike back on the road 👍
@@QuickBikes It's a tough ol bike, relatively easy to work on/get parts for, had mine for 3 yrs now :)
Happy new year to you and your family plus all your subscribers
And to you Paul 👍
Happy new year buddy
Thank you Phil, and Happy New Year to you too 👍
Had a Bandit 600S until a couple of years ago. Put 40k on it while I had it. Bullet proof. Have a great new year.
They do have a good reputation for reliability etc. What did you think of the handling and brakes? Did you change much on the setup or stick with the stock settings, springs etc?
@@QuickBikes I kept it as stock. Handling etc was good enough for my riding style.
@@QuickBikes Anyway off into the garage now to do some more butchery to my superdream.
I oddly found your channel early on, and love it so keep the vids coming quality stuff .HAPPY NEW YEAR , couple hours early but what the. No ripplage bendage beefage but would say if you check out tin foil folding sites are available , who knows you may learn something lol
Hehe... Glad to have you with us, and thank you 👍
I just bought a 1989 kawasaki kdx 200 e1 to rebuild and restore 😎 happy new year quickie 👍👍
Ooooo... I used to have a KDX.
Loads of fun was had on that beastie back in the day 👍👍
Happy New Year matey
Ah, but he who dies with most toys wins 👍👍👍
You're gonna have to line them all up when finished and post a pic. That would be a very nice lineup 👍
@@QuickBikes I had 16 bikes 10 years ago then sold them as i left the ex 🤣😂🤣
That just makes room for more... I'm not jealous... Not at all lol 😂
Hehehe.... Tis a simple plan, easy to remember, what could go wrong?
400 Quid bruh that's a no brainer. Sorta like looking a gift horse in the mouth (USA SAYIN MATE) IMHO. Another "New" Project. Excited to see how it turns out. I just restored a 2001 GSXF 600 and she is a firecracker in the twisties. Light, nimble and a blast for canyon/twisty riding. Though My ZX11 is fast and nimble uner power it cannot hang with the 600 on twisties as good. Now the straights I caught up, cause I ride with firends that also ride my bike for me for comparison riding. All in good fun. Happy Wrenching from da US.
It's turning into a very cool little bike matey (you've got some catching up to do 😉). Loads of R&D done on it now and we're getting very close to firing it up again. I'm having a great time working on it and the little Bandit is getting quite the following now 😁
Thanks for watching dude, it's very much appreciated 😁👍
Cant argue with that for that price. All the best.
Cheers Keith, and Happy New Year 👍
Great work.
If it's gonna be your daily Si, I've got a NWS grp hugger if you want it.
You'll need to fab a mount bracket though as that's long gone.
Yours if you want it mate.
Happy New Year.
Thanks for the offer Andy, but I won't be touching it till GIXIT is finished and not sure what I'm going to do about the dink in the swingarm yet. It may get something else instead of a stock 600 one. Many thanks though, that's really kind of you 👍
@@QuickBikes no probs mate.
BTW 1200 backend goes straight in. Nice fat tyre and ali arm.👍
Ah the old faithful! I had 2 600s and they're horribly normal, and that's what was great about them. Although I prefer the weight of the 1200n, and in Bristish racing green - I'll buzz you later because I wanna do a video on this and the SV650...
No worries dude, bargain for £400 though 👍
Nice bike quickly
It’s looks like a Yamaha dt 250 head lamp.
Colour is ok but not on the callipers
All the best for the new year
Cheers Garry
Cheers Garry, it'll be alright after a bit of fettling 👍
Happy New Year matey
Yes it will your get it looking right
What part of the country you from
I'm down in Plymouth matey but originally from Cambridge
Happy new year
And you fella 👍
quite a nice bike.. speed bump.. always liked them but never had one.. speed bump.. the colour remains me of Peter Kay.
looking forward to its refab and wether it will keep its colour.. speed bump.. happy new year.👍
Hehehe... Loads of em on the yard lol 😂
Always fun to be had with a bandit. ps those downpipes are aftermarket.
Are they? I know the later ones had scavenger tube between the down pipes but thought the early ones were like this... Oh well, you live and learn 😊
Happy New Year matey 👍
It's a nice colour imo looking at one of these for my 1st big bike
Really good all round as far as I can tell and pretty easy to work on too. I think the only bikes that looked good in purple were the Cadburys Boost Yamaha from back in the day, but that's just my opinion. I'm not changing it as it's a brand new paint job 👍👍
Yh my pal not long past his test and got a ktm Duke 690 it got stolen within 3 months now he's got a mk1 bandit 600 for £900 it's a really nice bike
Anychamce you could show me were the rear pillion sets or tell me how youve removed them, i low sided mine and its bent the back sets just looking for options. Thank s
Hiya, this is as I got the bike and I can't remember if it has rear pegs or not... I'll have a look at it tomorrow when I'm back in the workshop 👍
Hiya mike here how do you like the bandit 600, i have the 600s bandit but stripped all the front end to make it streetfighter looks so cool now, and stubbied the exhaust to 9" instead of 18" i think it was sounds nice ;-)
I've never ridden one 😅🤣😂
I'm looking forward to getting this one back on the road though to seeing what it can do. Thanks for commenting 😁👍
Cool, one Plum Crazy Bandit
Hehe.... Plum crazy... I like that 😂😂
Q. You and your mate's are so lucky. You guys get to ride your bikes a quick ⛴️ ride. And you get to watch the most incredible and oldest motorcycle race in the history of motorcycles. Ye old Isle of Man.
Tis very cool I have to admit...
I do miss my racing as it was very cool to take part in it and made some great friends. I'm looking forward to getting this bike on a track to see what it's like as well 👍
I’m trying to think of what might of puked on that bandit to turn it that colour. I bought a Virago the same colour and painted it brown 🤣🤣🤣 but to be fair I’m turning it into a rat bike. Seems good for 400 quid. Happy new year to you, Jake, Steve O et al.
It's not the best colour, but it's a brand new paint job so don't see the need to change it for now... Happy New Year matey, all the best for 2020
@@QuickBikes I do love a bandit very pokey, you’ll love it.
It's going to be interesting to see what they can do for sure 👍
Happy new year in advance of twelve o'clock
Thank you, and Happy New Year to you 👍
i do love a mk1 bandit :)
They're supposed to be just a really good all round bike aren't they... This is my first, so we'll see, but folk seem to really get on with them 👍
@@QuickBikes yep for sure. Ive had mine about 8 months. Used all through the winter so far. Love it.
The bag of bits are the seat brackets.
Ah right.... I was wondering what they were... 😂🤔 Cheers 👍
nice we seat . pity it's going to be as slippy as a super slippery thing now lolol . could be the seat brackets in the bag bud . hae a good one when it comes
Cheers Stewart, and Happy New Year matey 👍
awesome for £400 😮
Cmoan Quickie if you are gonna Finnish with laterzs at least commit with a confident LATERZS 😉 Happy new year bigyin see you in 2020..
Hehehe.... I was whizzing through everything I wanted to say in my head before finishing and got a bit confused, hence it was a whimpy one lol 😂 Well spotted 👍
Happy New Year George
Quick Bikes happy new year Quickie :)
Wow that is a steal! I paid about £300 just for new front brake discs and bolts on a b6 that is one year older than this. The calipers are shite! The back one needs to be drilled out to get access to the pins and the front ones only don't bind when the bike isn't moving :P Those headers look after market to me, which is probably because the OEM are the worst design ever, only part that is not stainless is the collector box and guess what always rusts?
Hehehe... I think every model has its issues and I'm sure this is no different. It's like sitting in an armchair compared to the litre sports bikes I've had for the past 20 years... Lol
@@QuickBikes Ha. As for a name I call mine Betty because she is an old dear :P
The Purple People Eater :)
Hahaha haha.... Only when ridden on the pavement 😂🤣😅
Quickie. Try Just Bandits. They're online and have everything for a.... We'll.... Bandit
Thank you Nick, I will do.
Happy New Year matey 👍
Quote of the year, or any year, "but it's not a bike". Happy New Year to you.
Hehe... All the best 👍
Jesus Quicky, how much WD40 do you use? First time I’ve seen it used on a seat 😂
Ps happy new year and keep up the good work !
Hehehe... It just gets stuff off. I've always used it for loads of silly jobs 😂🤣
£400! You jammy bugger! That colour though, like a hockey girl's thighs on a frosty morning! Get stuck into it Quicky!👍
I know right!?! Total bargain 👍
I like the analogy, that made me chuckle... 😅
Hey! For £400 that is Quality....Street. at that price you would get your money back anytime. Then get a 1200😉👍
I'd love a 1200... I just prefer the weight of the bigger bikes as well as the power I think. They just feel more stable somehow 👍
@@QuickBikes bigger is better in this case👍
Driving a white van! Your a biker!.. :-)
I know right... It's like being on the dark side.... I Need a bike on the road again 👍
i would have snapped it up 400 would get me a mini moto if i was lucky
Total bargain in my book 👍
@@QuickBikes you done very well in my opinion
Good luck with it!!!! But a 600??? The only bandit worth having is the 1200!!! Steve-o could run faster!!!!
Hehehe... We'll see. Its not getting touched till Steve O 's bike is finished, but by then I' m. REALLY going to want a bike on the road lol
@@QuickBikes you will have a good starter bike there is light nibble and not to fast!!!! 😃😃😃😃
Very cheap bike that Mr quick. I can tell u from experience that a gen 1 busa swingarm fits with very little work. U get wider tyre option and the busa arm is actually pretty light and it's factory over braced
Ah, didn't know that... This one has a dink in it which I'm not happy about and would have to sort out before it sees the road. Good to know 👍
"Speed bump"
Loads of em by the workshop... 😂😅🤣
Come on son ya could be taking on too much dont let Stevo down Lol (£400 Quid he fancy you or something Cheep as chips)
Won't be touching it till GIXIT is finished matey, don't worry. I want to see what his bike turns out like after all this work. I'm happy in the van whilst it's pee'ing down 😂😂
👍
😁
No fucking way. I had no idea you were based where I am.
Where are you to?
As they say in this nick of the woods 😂
“Where you fockin to then bay? Cho!”😉.
I live in Plympton and ride past your workshop most days to get to work.
Workshop is on Embankment Road but I live in St Budeaux. Small world hey 👍
Work at Rittals as a welder fabricator
Lol, your chatty Sat nav gave it away.
bargain!
Lakier okej Silnik okej ale co to za tuning jak tyle korozji
I have no idea what you just said...!!
@@QuickBikes rust on the screws its no ok.
Ah right, no it's not so good, but nothing that can't be cleaned up. It's weird it's not all of them though... Just some...!?!
can be cleaned and exchanged for inox
@@QuickBikes bandit 600 is a beautiful motorcycle
Sneaky ploy to get it fixed before buying it back for what you paid? Some twat.... (love. You mickey) did that to me before.
Hehe... Naaaa.... This is Jack and a sound bloke. I've no need to sell it and like the idea of honing around on it to see what a Bandit can do as I've never had one before. May well use the frame to set the frame jig up that I plan on making for the the next project as I really don't trust the GS1000 frame that Steve O has...
@@QuickBikes looking good though mate, that exhaust looks brutal though. Can't imagine how. Much that is going to suck on a long ride.
Happy New year and all that mate, may ping you in the new year about some bits need to unfuck Some bodges that were about getting the bike on the road and rideable.
Happy New Year 👍
Bored
Hehehe... We'll watch something else then 😂
Hablas mucho y no haces nada que fiasco. 👎
