Great video! I like using Bonide systemic granules to prevent thrips! And yes, remove all the blooms and buds from the store, as thrips might be inside them. I once bought a pretty violet from a local grocery store, it looked very healthy, nothing was crawling (yet). I placed the violet on quarantine inside a cake container with clear dome so I could enjoy the blooms. Well, about a week later the violet was infested with thrips. It's good it was inside the cake container and did not infect any other plants.
the only issue i ever had with new plants is them being too wet so i remove them from the pot and remove about half inche of the top soil, and replace with perilite, that also stops any fruit flys, or fungus knats, but thoese go aaway once they dry out, that perilite for me is essential and i work it into the soil

You are so careful with new plants. Wish i had been. Wiped out a huge collection of chimeras years ago with a plant that was gifted to me. I kept the plant in my apartment for about an hour. As soon as the person left, i put it in the hallway. It had fungus gnats.
That was before the Internet and i had mo clue what to do.
It is not dirt, it is flower pollen on the leaf.

i always check mine, before i buy them, never had mealy bug issues, but i find they are always wet when i get them so i place mine under celing fans for a few days, to dry them out, and i add, a lot of perilite to the top and work it into the soil. that helps with drainage after i remove all the dead stuff off and i find that, they do NOT like their leaves touched, i dont remove the flowers, just the dead ones, but i never buy them unless they are healthy, never heard of removing buds before, and i been growing them for 45 years,
I use self watering so need to add a lot more perlite to the soil I would like to know how to get more of the old soil off without hurting anything. I think I have got root rot from to much soil being left on the new plant
I don’t know where you live…I’m in south Florida, and in 4 years I’ve never found a decent violet plant anywhere. I can’t have them shipped in because the heat here would cook them.
What about local nurseries?
There are some good sellers in Florida. Only stay couple days in transit. Also important to order in early spring or fall.

One question, in your isolation room, it appears that you have circular lights set up. I have seen these and am wondering how you like them and if you think the violets respond favorably to them, thx! (Also, where did you purchase them?)
Those little umbrella lights are great! I got them off Amazon. I usually use them around the house when I'm displaying a plant in a room that doesn't have much light. The design is so simple that it pretty much blends in with any decor. The telescoping stand allows you to adjust the height of the light and they also come with brightness settings so you can control the light intensity. They also have a timer, so you don't have to remember to turn them on and off...although in some models I notice that they have an annoying habit of turning on earlier a couple minutes every day, so that if set the timer to turn on at say 9 in the morning, the next morning it will turn on at 8:55, and the next day at 8:50 and so on. Not a deal breaker for me, but a bit irritating. The plants seem to do well with them.

Where can one get that little printer
Its been a year since I bought my first african violet and it bloomed when I bought it. It lost its flowers quickly and it just wont bloom. Please do you know why?

I generally repot any violets I get from the big box store as soon as I get them home. This is to help defend against soil-based pests like mealy bugs. As far as repotting in general, it's recommended that standard-sized violets are repotted every 6 to 12 months. This helps to eliminate any mineral build-up from fertilizer in the soil and fresh soil can help violets bloom more often and it keeps them happy in general. I've noticed that my violets bloom and grow more profusely after I repot them. Good luck! 👍
