- SLOW COOKER BARBECUE MEATBALLS
Easy appetizer recipe or great as a main dish over mashed potatoes.
RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
40 oz. frozen meatballs (I use Safeway's Kitchen brand homestyle meatballs)
16 oz. Sweet Baby Ray's Original Barbecue Sauce
1 small white onion diced
SLOW COOKER SIZE:
4-quart or larger
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add the frozen meatballs to the slow cooker.
Add the diced white onion and barbecue sauce. Stir.
Cover and cook on high for 2.5 hours or on low for 4 hours. Stir occasionally so the meatballs won't burn on the edges.
Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks or as dinner on top of mashed potatoes or rice. Or you can serve on slider or hoagie rolls.

My coworkers request these at our office parties every time. Although, I use a large bottle of bbq sauce and add a small jar of blackberry jam. Sweet n savory. Yum!

Ok I feel slow for not knowing that it literally takes 3 ingredients (I've never used a crock pot but I've made things like garlic and herbs crusted pork loin) to do this but my grandma always kept this recipe a secret

This is odd because my slow cooker says to never add anything frozen in it.
Think about it...
Yes the slow cooker has to unfreeze before cooking
The items are small balls so require less heat to thaw.
There is added liquid to help thawing process.
Meatballs don't need a long time cooking, fresh meatballs you could do in 30-60mins.
This is 2.5hrs...to allow thawing then cooking.
Plus u get what u pay for.

The main problem I can see with this recipe is that it is advised to never heat Frozen Meat in a Slow Cooker(Google Search will tell you why).
The slow cooker companies says it's safe and people have been cooking frozen food for forever.
@@tonytone5300 You shouldn`t cook frozen meat in a slow cooker as it heats the food slowly and the meat sits at a temperature that bacteria can breed in for too long.Conventional ovens heat more rapidly and the bacteria are killed.I just de-frost the meat overnight before Slow Cooking=Have a read on line.
