Mike D'Antoni changed the game of basketball in all of the ways that people are trying to credit Curry for. Curry is the greatest shooter I've ever seen, but that isn't the reason that NBA players are shooting more 3s and playing at a higher pace. Analytics had proved that 3s were being undervalued, and the shift towards 3 pointers was being made before Curry had ever taken an NBA dribble. It's unfortunate that Curry is being seen as some kind of revolutionary basketball player when instead he is the beneficiary of coming into the league right when the game was already changing in his favor.

If you want to play the downplay game, Magic played in a dying era of the league where the competitiveness went down and dominance was easier. Look at the unbelievable parity from this season and tell me that the competition isn’t as fierce (if not fiercer) than it was in the 80’s.
Magic is incredible, but you can’t blame recency bias as the only reason Steph is getting put above Magic. Also, yeah Curry doesn't always have the ball in his hands, but he does most of the time as a PG. This shouldn't be a knock as a "combo guard playing PG". When he's off ball, what is he doing? He's either running laps around the defenders until the ball comes back to him or he's setting screens for his teammates on much larger defenders (eg. screening even Sabonis during this Kings series). He's not just standing there letting others work. What kind of PG or player his size can or will even do these things? He's basically peaking at 35 years old too..
