Great recording, I'm thrilled. I like it fantastic. The reputation is a pleasure. All vehicles look very beautiful. You chose the photopoints excellently. It's not better.
    First-class work 👍

Thank you very much! I enjoyed the day, always nice to see a good selection of locomotives in steam. Also, I love being out in the rain - so the morning was especially good for me 😂

Great video. That model of a dead soldier looked awfully realistic 😮

The bit of paper lying on top of him said that it was used in the film 1917. Various other film related costumes & bits and pieces there too - you could buy a screen used ration pack box, or one of plastic helmets that were used to scatter over the beach during the making of Dunkirk of that sort of thing tickled your fancy.

1940s ???? About the only 1940s in this video are the newsreel clips. BR Mk I coaches in BR Green, BR Blood and Custard and BR maroon, a GWR Pannier tank in BR black, with a BR front numberplate. Nothing wrong with the video, which I enjoyed, but it would be better if you removed the irrelevant newsreel clips and retitled it "Step back into the 1950s"..

Hi Alan, thanks for your comment! Yes, we have to allow a certain amount of dramatic licence to the SVR…. Their 1940s weekend is, I think, mainly aimed at people who wouldn’t normally visit the railway - lots of reenactment type people come along in costume, mainly for the 1940s exhibits/stalls etc than for the trains themselves (there was also a Western class diesel running at one point, which I decided was pushing imagination a bit too far to include in the film!!) Ultimately, it brings in revenue for the railway that they otherwise wouldn’t have & finances there have been touch and go since covid….. realistically we can’t expect them to hire in a complete fleet of wartime era locos and stock. Pleased that you enjoyed the footage though!
