The problem for me is that the technology option packages are only available on the M40i... can't get any equipment on the regular X3. Like driving a car from 6 years ago.
Hi Kevin, just wanted to drop a hello. I'm currently at work but watched halfway through while having my lunch. I'll watch the rest of the video later tonight. I generally ease into the night while having dinner and watching your car reviews. I saw your review of the Kia Stinger from 2018 so I'll be visiting some of those older (but still relevant) videos from your channel. It's interesting to see how just within four years, so much as changed in the car market. Peace Kevin and let's keep growing this channel man. I've told some of my colleagues, who love cars as much as you do, to subscribe to your channel....and some of those folks can pretty much afford any car they like. Ultimately, value is important to them like it's to me and I think that's the one common strand that connects your videos from the past to the present regarding a new/2nd car purchase, it's simply value and not just specs.
The difference you were most likely missing from the M440i was the M Sport Differential. It comes standard on the M440i and is an option on the X3 M40i.
Awesome review! I currently own a 2022 x3 30i (love it) and have always struggled with the idea of wheather I should have gone with the 40i. I am curious regarding the x5 for more refinement.
I just bought a used 2018 X3 M40I with 40,000 miles and got a really good deal on it. I find the 2018 to have more character. It pops and burbles and there is not much wind noise. It does ride rougher but you feel like you are driving. My 2018 has got my heart for quite some time. It should do me till my kids are over 18. Knock On Wood.
@@b.f.378 I love it. My 2018 brings a smile to my face every time I get behind the wheel from the time I start it up to the time I pull into the garage. Gas Range is good if you dont put your foot into it. Its the perfect car.
Nice ride. It will roll in a straight line. Plenty of umph/kick. My son did the BMW driver experience a few years ago in Greenville S.C when he was a teenager. A huge smile on his face when he finished. Great marketing on their part. I called it "The Transporter " course aka Jason Statham.
Yea my friend these BMWs certainly do fly. That’s awesome your son got to do the BMW experience event! You’re right, its always fun when car companies offer events like that, brings us closer to the brand. Cheers
I’ve only driven the 2020 NX and handles good in that FWD way. X3 being a RWD platform has that neutral sorted feel found in RWD platforms but FWD when sorted correctly is perfectly acceptable for street driving. I don’t like how the 2020 NX rides it’s similar to the Volvo XC60 where it moves the occupants around too much when traveling over uneven terrain. Regular X3 would be a better choice but we also have the Acura RDX in this class which would probably be my choice. New NX should be better I hope to try one this summer
I wanna move up from my 19 accord sport 2.0 and get something more luxurious and good for long drives what do you recommend I don’t care either sedan or suv $50-60k
ES 300h and RDX are top 2 for around 50k. Accord is already an amazing car so I think ES will be amazing to looking to for fuel economy and supreme ride quality mixed with interior quality
8:40 and this is why I don't watch your videos smh. Too confident about your general assumptions. You know there is an entire car enthusiast community out there right? You know that many of them push their vehicles on spirited drives? I guess your demographic isn't car enthusiasts.
Loved the review and immediately subscribed. Hello from Australia! I am currently considering X3 30i and Audi Q5 45TSFSI. Both cost around $95K AUD. The M40i and the SQ5 are and addition $20k-$25k to the price which is significant amount just to get the awesome in line 6 cylinder! Looking at a daily driver and a family luxury SUV and think the 30i M Sport and 45 TFSI should be the way to go. What do you suggest? Thanks.
I actually really like the looks of this SUV inside and out, I would go with the regular one though, not into the harsh ride that’s for sure. Great review Kevin!👍
Kinda like the strawberry blonde cheerleader. Really beautiful from all visual perspectives, but over the long haul she'll disappoint your expectation of quality and reliability.
Another solid review Kevin!!! 👌 This, GV70 3.5TT, and Mazda CX70 are on our radar. It's hard AF getting the Genesis and we haven't seen anything solid from Mazda yet. I'll spec the M40i out again cause we're in no real rush. BTW, picked up the IS yesterday... its much more responsive than the LC. It's getting tint, PPF, and ceramic right now.... 🤣🤣🤣
With regards to the throttle being touchy and the vehicle lurching I'm willing to bet BMW did that on purpose to make the SUV seem as peppy and responsive as the sedans but overdid it. Same as you mentioned with the Audi SQ5. They tuned the suspension to handle as good as the cars and in the end the ride quality suffered as a result. Good review as always. Fits in with my lunch break.
Yea my friend they’re just doing too much trying to make these SUVs be more than what they really are. That M440i coupe was tuned so well. I came off a little harsh on this vehicle but that’s only because I know they can do better. But this is the result of most companies “performance” SUVs
Thanks for the shout-out! Yeah, loved the X5 45e -- was more fun than the X3 M, in my opinion -- due to the instant torque. I even got the X5 45e into an AWD drift! The air suspension in the X5 45e made it comfy and floaty, in an almost comical way, but oddly controlled as well -- it added a fun factor and gave the BMW some "character". Like you said, these BMWs are very capable, but you feel nothing. Same with my F30 3-series -- it's a clinical experience until you're at 9/10ths.
AutoTop NL tested it and didn't like the suspension, here is the episode 2023 BMW X5 45e REVIEW on AUTOBAHN by AutoTopNL ua-cam.com/video/5cQWZMVZDl8/v-deo.html, start watching at 07: 37, he said it's too soft
@@borghorsa1902 -- I took the X5 M50i for a joy ride last weekend -- that thing was INSANE! The suspension was very taut and truck-like. I'd take the air suspension on the 45e over that.
@@TrixAreForRabbits M50i, I would say that looking at specs only, it's "almost" and M car. Ok, interesting to hear that. I guess autobahn is a very special environment and it requires a very specific tuning not necessarily conducive to comfortable daily driving
Unfortunately not that reliable. everything about the exterior and interior is super awesome I truly love the German Design BMW OR Audi OR Mercedes exterior and interior no question .. but regarding suspension components and the overall under the hood .. is questionable when it comes to Relibitly in the long run !!!

What are you confused about?

That’s do the the chip shortage. They should be back….some day ….lol
