If you have ever driven in Spa sim or IRL, you know outside is always dirty and when you stay away from the apex into that corner, it's impossible to make next corner properly. Pinnacle of endurance racing. Simply amazing.

Super cool to post an instant classic from the past. LMP1's at this time were SOOO good. Hopefully the FIA add some pace to hypercar because they are kind of lacking.
They need to reduce weight and let the teams add some downforce and weaken the impact of Bop. If Toyota sinply built the faster car then let them win instead having them to compete against a grandfathered lmp1 car.
@@Maenfy I know they don't want to make it a spending war like in LMP1, but there has to be something they can do while staying cost effective to add some pace. I was at Sebring this year and the DPI's were like 5 seconds a lap faster.

Kinda crazy how LMH has the same amount of manufacturers as the peak of P1 hybrid did. There was great close racing; but I guess it was less of a commercial success. In comparison the LMH/DH sign ups already exceed that by miles.
Only because every loser manufacturer can enter and be lifted into competitive performance level by BoP. Technical challenge basically zero, general public interest accordingly.

The series with the most technological level have always been the most watched. Also technical challenge is why motorsports was invented in the first place and development costs are ok if the development means that something for research and production is learned.
@@armorgeddon Agreed, this is supposed to be the top prototype class in the world. And it worked well for many years. Also, LMP1 has only 2 car makers, Toyota and Glickenhaus. Alpine uses a modified LMP1 and the others are just promises for now.
@@slicktires2011 LMP1H worked for 3-4 years before costs and other factors killed the class. Hypercar will be an era with over half a dozen major manufacturers, customer cars, and sustainable costs. We could even see a Hypercar Pro and Am class. With the latter replacing LMP2. That will depend on supply and costs for customer cars.

You take the same Doctor Ulrich and his pilotes and LMP1 fly once again to be checkerd first, in spite of the left and right pif-paf or "eau rouge" dive and creep. At every lap, the lines and tyres are crusched and the deep of this tricky section is a fearfull.trial where Antoine Hubert lost his life in.2019, racing in a F2 GP.

I'm glad that we have FCY nowadays because that's really dangerous. also very unlucky for any prototypes getting stuck behind a GTE in that zone because the GTE would be allowed to go full speed but the prototype can not overtake and will be losing a lot of time compared to cars without traffic in that specific corner
No, 2022 F1 suspension rules are more restrictive than the LMP1-H rules and there was still bouncing sometimes like here at ua-cam.com/video/oQTPBLh3_0k/v-deo.html .
I miss when they would describe what aero packages the cars were running that day and what the differences between them were in the pre-race. Now it's like they skip the pre-race altogether and don't give you any info from the qualy and practice sessions

This was real top class motorsports competition, not the bullcrap BoP fake show WEC has now turned into and next to nobody cares about anymore. Sadly professional sportscar racing worldwide is dead, even F1 is more alive and that says something. Btw in the year 2022 this should've been uploaded at 50 fps.
Professional sportscar racing has never been in a stronger position worldwide. Prototype reg convergence with ACO/FIA/IMSA, GT reg convergence with GT3. Reg stability and sustainable costs. Competitive customer car options in both prototype & GT. All will ensure sportscar racing enters a golden period. Only this time it will be sustainable.

Those LMP1 machines was something else. Brutal hybrid racecars with a lot of downforce. Did they do Eau Rouge flat?
Of the course they did, even the GT3s can pass the Raidillon flat out
Fantastic to see the 919s driven in anger. I didn't catch this race at the time but no matter, it's a great race with the original Eau Rouge!
